I love the underlying message in the video. In the end, The 1975 were not the ones in a cookie cutter box like the reviewers claimed they were. In fact, the reviewers who hated their music were the ones boxing themselves in with their narrow mindset about how music should be.

I love how everyone is commenting about everything except for the amazing concept behind this music video...How much criticism this bands gets, but in the end they just don't care. Hence the role reversal of the critics being in the box and the band being outside staring in. Kind of like a big "F*** you, look where we're at now" kind of message. The 1975 has my full support!

This song was playing in the hospital when I heard my daughter's heartbeat for the first time when I was pregnant so the line "I know when you're around cos I know the sound of your heart" always brings happy tears to my eyes. I also saw them live in Brighton, November 2015 when I was 12 weeks pregnant. This album brings back so many happy memories!

@@girlsgokawaii Why stressful for the baby? She was comfy inside me and was the size of a tangerine! I had seat ticket and wasnt standing so could rest anytime I wanted to. Had the best time and it's a memory I'll cherish forever !

This is like song #8 by them of people going on about it that just sounds so hopelessly generic and empty. Like compare this to a song like Amerika by Wintersleep or Other Man by Sloan - songs that have something to say while having a hook, a crescendo, something, anything. So many people are upset that their style has changed, but all bands should be developing as they release more albums. If they don't then it's the same stuff over and over and the band isn't actually learning and growing. Change isn't always a bad thing.

+R. Aubrey B. It;s not change, it's EVOLUTION!! I heard glimpses of this in the last album, on tunes like "Girls", and they really built on it and made it better. And I think Matt's gonna eat his words. In prior interviews. he says they are not a pop band. Uh Matt, what do you call that??? That is pure 80ssynthnewwavepowerpop at it's finest. To me, if you don't have a killer pop sensibility, you're boring. Hooks rule. Bright choruses rule. Those "cliches" in the video do not apply. Pop music is SUPPOSED to be catchy, but the idea is to do it in such a way that is exciting and not formulaic. Familiar but with a twist of originality. Everything's been done before, yes, but give it a little fresh twist and some little familiar but either not obvious or forgotten about references, and you have a winner.

The one thing I always LOVE about this song and why frankly its one of those songs you HAVE to listen to with the video. I've gotten a ton of hate over my stories being called cringe and blah blah blah. But some of them are really deep with hidden meanings and like in the video, people say things like this and I just love at the guitar solo the tables are turned. And its like "do it, lets see you create, go ahead, we are waiting". Thanks 1975 for helping me make stories even if most people hate them.

Songs like the sound, sex, I like America and America likes me are very different and special in their on way. So there it isn't about which song is "better" because everyone feels and looks at it a different way.

The best moment of my life was when I went to their concert in a small club in a different city (actually another state, I took my first flight ever, alone, to see them in a city that I didn’t know), but it was totally worth it, it looked like a cult, it was surreal, and the craziest part is that everytime I listen to these songs in the total dark I can feel exactly the way I felt in their presence. This plays everyday at my job and it has for the last 4-5 years. I never knew what it was or who it was by but it always gave me so much joy hearing it even if I was having a horrible day. Hearing this song always gave me a feeling of freedom and a sense that I could take on anything. I lost my job during 2020 and didn't get to go back to it until October 2021. I finally got to hear this song again for the first time in 2 years 2 weeks ago. (I finally paid attention the the lyrics so I could find it) I was reminded of an easier time before the panorama. I get to hear it every day that I'm scheduled now and feel that brief moment of joy and reminder of that free feeling from the before times when my biggest worry is definitelynot what it is now. I will never take hearing this song or that feeling it gives me for granted again.

Also one of the main reasons I love this band so much is because they showed me that it's okay to be different. And I know this sounds like one of those cliche, can-apply-to-any-band kind of thing, but it's not like that. Matty and the band, they do what they love, they do what makes them who they are, and that helped me become stronger in who I was and what I wanted to make. After I watched this video, I scrolled down to the comments below and I saw the hate comments, but I was unaffected. After watching in the video how they portrayed how they could get past what the critics said, it gave me a whole new mindset.

This was the first song by the 1975 that I heard. Nearly 9 years later, I'm turning 20, I've been to several of their shows and call myself a huge fan. I'm going to miss these guys while they're on hiatus.
