Eren Jaeger is a member of the Scout Regiment and the main protagonist of Attack on Titan. He is the only son of Grisha and Carla Jaeger, the adoptive brother of Mikasa Ackermann, the younger paternal half brother of Zeke Jaeger and the current holder of the Attack Titan, Founding Titan, and the War Hammer Titan. Eren was born and raised in Shiganshina District, which is located on the southern edge of Wall Maria. He lived there until the year 845, when the Colossal and Armored Titans breached the Wall, allowing a flood of Titans to invade and destroy the city. During the incident, Eren witnessed his mother being murdered and eaten by a smiling Titan. This event aroused in Eren an intense hatred towards the Titans, and he swore to wipe all of them off the face of the earth. Soon afterward, his father, Grisha Jaeger, found him and gave him the key to his basement, instructing Eren to find it at all costs and retake Wall Maria. He then injected Eren with a Titan injection. Two years later, Eren along with his adoptive sister Mikasa Ackermann and his best friend Armin Arlelt joined the 104th Cadet Corps. The three successfully graduated, with Eren ranking as the 5th best cadet, and they joined the Scout Regiment following the struggle for Trost. After finding the basement and unlocking his father's memories, Eren learned about the truth of what the Titans are, as well as the history of Eldia and Marley. Eren then vowed to free his home from their true enemy: the rest of humanity that lives across the sea. Eren currently possesses the power of three Titans. From his father, Eren inherited the Attack and Founding Titan. After eating Lara Tybur during the Raid on Liberio, he gained the War Hammer Titan as well.

The fact that he forgives armin and tells armin of his true feelings toward mikasa and loving her back, and telling that he didn’t want to die was probably the most heartfelt moment in all of anime

After listening again to Pieck saying that she doesn’t trust Marley, only her comrades I understand now that the main point of AoT is the love you have for your friends, those who stand along with you. Eren couldn’t care less about the Eldian empire and his country. The boy was desperate to save his friends, the comrades he grew up in the military, his best friend Armin, and the first person he saved, Mikasa.

Yes. A lot of people didn't understand Eren searched all timelines to find the one where Armin and Mikasa lived. And this was the only solution. He learned that when kissing christas hand. That's why he's basically soulless after that scene. Until the end. It's like doctor strange in endgame 😅 you think: that's!!!! The best outcome???? Holy....

Cap. He did get kidnapped first three seasons but saved paradis more than anyone. EACH SEASON. Levi saved him 4-5 times. Eren saved paradis including levi more than levi saved him

A part of me wanted Eren to have a happy ending because of what he, his people, and especially what Ymir Fritz went through, but I think that would defeat the purpose of the story. And I think that purpose is to say that peace cannot be achieved if you keep dominating the weak, hold any grudges against any group of people, or telling a lie so that future generations would believe it.

Eren turned into one because he thought to achieve freedom he has to destroy humanity outside the walls (which he's prepared to do) but his plan fails and he ended up destroying 80% of humanity not because he has to but because he want to and since he won't be able to destroy humanity he decided to make his friends as hero

@@jeoncoconut4858 so yeah he 'played' the villain. you basically just proved kdh right, Eren did these things to save his people & friends and to try and stop the rest of humanity in the fight of titans. he became a villain so his friends could become the heroes. He is a villain, played the villain roll well to save his people, and died a hero in the viewers eyes.

His initial decision was to destroy humanity outside the walls "commiting genocide" a hero would never sacrifice 80% of humanity just to achieve freedom for himself. It was a self-achievement he only redirected to making his friends as hero because he learned that he won't succceed

@@jeoncoconut4858 again ur just reiterating what other people are saying. eren was always planning on being the villain as long as he could save his own people, why care for the people that watched you're whole race get demolished. his thought process was the same the whole time he just edited his plan as needed for his end goal. even the time loop proved it was all planned from the beginning.

In my opinion, Eren Jaeger deserved better. His life came to a tragic end although it was for the greater good. It's messed up how he fought so hard for a world he couldn't even be a part of. 💔 He made himself the villain, so his people would be granted glory for their sake in the future. He was such a good person & cared about others. It's bittersweet honestly. I'm happy he was able to do something so noble like ending the existence of the Titans, but it is sad it had to be at his expense.🥺

Also just to put it out there I acknowledge that Eren was wrong for the genocide he committed. People hate him and say he's a monster. He is a man that wanted to save his people including his loved ones by murdering the people(includes everyone) of the Marleyans that posed a threat to their existence. If he didn't commit genocide his people would have been the ones subjected to genocide. He was in a messed up situation to where he killed innocent lives as well as those complicit.

I agree with this, but I feel like the ending would feel kind of empty. When a huge manga, that is decently long, like aot ends, the ending needs to have impact. Having eren survive removes all of that impact, he killed most of the world, and he just lived happily ever after? Having that kind of ending makes it feel unfinished in my eyes.

I don't think they'll change the ending for the Anime, because it would make Eren's declaration of him hating the kind of person Mikasa was back in Paradis completely bunk. He knew that moment would lead to his death, and he had to do it.

I think that eren still felt bad for zeke since he should’ve known that zeke only wanted the best of the world. I think that the logic is that if someone *thinks* what they’re doing is morally right, (even if it is wrong) it makes them a good person. That escalated quickly A minute thirty in and I'm told who the main villain is. I decided to catch up on lore of this series (haven't watched any episode yet) because of some comments on a cover of one of the openings and decided to see if I can find any bits of the latest episodes of KZfaq and then I discover eren is fighting humanity... I'm absolutely speechless just cause it's kind of funny but I had no idea this show took this turn. TL;DR I'm shook

SPOILERR!!! The fact Eren loved Mikasa back but didn't tell her to spare her from the heartache of him dying later on in the series is probably the most breaking moment in any anime. Especially because she had to kill him in order to save what was left of humanity.....

As we know if a user who dies loses their Titan ability it goes to the next subject of Ymir. ⚠️ Spoiler Warning ⚠️ Chapter 139 I believe, Mikasa talks to Ymir, Ymir is seen to look happy and free and after that she disappears I’d assume the Titan curse is gone not sure though since Ymir was only the first person to have the founder titans power. Also, in the extra 8 pages that person finds the same tree similar to Ymir which means that Hallucegina still lives on and the next founder shall come. More like a endless loop if you ask me.

Eren’s tree manga panel in the last page of ch.139 truly puts a dagger in my heart, knowing it’s been well over 40-50 years & everybody’s aged up and probably moved out to live a life of their own while eren’s forever gonna be at the spot of the tree, glancing down at what’s to come. The author did an absolute perfect job at making everybody feel “hurt” , it saddens me every time I think about the ending, the life eren truly deserved to live which he never got

Holy shit what a well fleshed out character. No happy ending. A character that lived so long he saw himself become the villain, and was so set in his beliefs and determined, he became a villain of sorts… I have never seen a show so well written & executed. The writers deserve an award for this.

@@f.b.lagent1113 he wanted to set free the curse of titans from the world by being the ultimate sacrifice. in a way for everyone else to be free he must be punished and go through hell many times, but in the end peace only lasts for so long and the cycle continues again. hes free because he chose this timeline but a slave to suffer through hell so others can be fully free. its a very common thought practice yin and yang, chaos and order constantly phasing in and out to let the other run its course

in a way the anime tries to explain human behavior and complexity through varies micro and macro shots of character development making the series very well thought out and rich which is why i personally enjoy it

@@jon-sw5yw Exactly when season 4 dropped, it showed the perspective of Marleyans and I realized they were indirectly or maybe purposefully showing that war has no end. Bertholdt and Reiner invaded the walls only for Eren to use the exact same tactic to invade Marley and destroy so many innocents the same way Bertholdt and Reiner did so many years before. I like that there was no peaceful ending because with the nature of their world, only overwhelming force would end the cycle.

Eren was a villain by every possible fashion. He took things too far and put his selfish desires above others. I remember at the start of the show I really did pity the kid but after reaching season 4, I lost that sympathy. Man became the very thing he swore to destroy. I don't even want to call him an antihero because he in all regards is a villain like most of the characters in the show. Having no regard for innocent lives doesn't make anyone a hero.

My theory Eren travels through his memories to the moment where they choose between Erwin and Armin and tells himself to give up on Armin and pick Erwin(I know it's mean but Erwin has the necessary skills I'll explain later) Eren destroys the military forces using the rumbling. Then, he threatens the Marley and other countries government, ambassadors that if they don't listen to him, the rumbling will continue. He invites them to the Paradise where Erwin convinces them that the Paradise isn't dangerous as long as the other countries don't attack them and signs the peace treaty. (It's not a surprise that Erwin can stop a meteorite by just looking at it. He has leadership skills and is able to make people follow him)If they refuse the rumbling will start again and continue.

Spoiler Warning! As tragic as this beautiful story is, I feel at peace knowing that Eren lived a meaningful life and is at peace. Ofcourse we'd love a happy ending where Eren and Mikasa can be together forever, but that doesn't mean their love wasn't special. Ofcourse he desired to be with Mikasa and his friends but he truly believed in his own sacrifice for them. "The world is cruel, but I still love you". This perfectly encapsulates that the world broke them through the sacrifices they made but their love endured. Eren sacrificed his final years of happiness with Mikasa to become a monster to stay and defend Paradis so his friends could live peaceful lives. Mikasa sacrificed her love to save what remained of the world but also to give eren the peace death brought from the monster he had become. Despite the cruelty of these sacrifices they loved eachother and what matters is their freedom, resilience & choice to rise above that pain of sacrifice and see the beauty in the world, their love. It eases the heartache knowing despite the dark path Eren went down, he still lived a meaningful and fulfilling life where he loved and was loved both in the paths with Mikasa and the world. The world is cruel, but it's also beautiful because of the love Eren and Mikasa had for eachother and their sacrifice. They were eachothers constant companion and peace. Eren was tired in his final moments but Mikasa brought him peace, both in life and in death. it was ultimately his choice to sacrifice himself for his friends and Paradis. I feel at peace knowing that Eren lived a meaningful and fulfilling life. In savings his loved ones he is finally free and at peace.

The most tragic thing about Eren was that he was stopped at the last minute making his war against marley futile, because of Armin and Mikasa he kept a small piece of humanity and let them live to stop him because they represented the freedom destiny robbed him of. What makes him a great character is that he saw how the world worked against the existence of his people out of a selfish viewpoint of superiority from old history. Eren decided to press forward so far to the point of having the ability to annihilate them despite bearing the nigh infinite guilt along the way from the immoral but necessary actions to win his war against the enemies who despised his race for hundreds of years. He is a man without freedom in life who is chosen by destiny to make an impact without being remembered, whose only purpose is to fight for what he believes in because he is essentially "the chosen one". It's a shame that there are few people with the will to impact the world due to positive changes being buried by more negative ones at a much faster rate by a larger more unstoppable power at the cost of something far more precious that won't ever come back which will lead to worldly destruction because of said unstoppable power in whatever form it inherits.

I mean he was a mindless villain. He had no freedom of his own. There’s songs in series about batting fate but in the end he was a slave to fate and you can’t battle fate. That is in line with reality today. Your death day is sealed you just don’t know when and your fate is sealed. No matter how hard someone try he won’t accomplish everything henwants or even at all. Just like some people are born for greatness and some are born for failure. In erens case he was born for failure. As his plan failed and left paradise defenseless and they got bombed and exterminated din the last chapter. In a way he did zeke a plan but worst. He saved them from themselves but in a more violent way. He is no different from zeke plan. But zeke plan would of cost less death. So he is a mindless villain doing destruction for no reason or no long goal in mind. Zeke plan would of saved 80 percent of the world while eldia live the res to their years in peace which is what happen with eren plan minus the peace because they were in a Cold War. The nations were buying time till they have enough weapons to kill them. So he was born a loser bound by fate it’s as simple as that. Why you think people in life born for greatness and some aren’t. Some born to be good at something and the other at some Hong else. Our fate is what we get. It’s dark but that’s reality . Just like someone with bad genetics can struggle all they want and take PEDs but will never beat someone with good genetics that take PEDs. @@doffyy_8649 that is true. In the end there was no "right" choice for eren to do: step back and let paradis be destroyed together with all of his friends and his child? Kill all eldians himself to stop war? Or go with the choice he made, protecting those he loved by killing 4/5 of humanity (except eldians). You really cant blame him for his choice but in any way he could not live with himself after deciding wchich choice to take, which is why he wont come back as a human even though he could
