First View Vintage Estate Sale | Reselling Antiques & New!
Come in with me! We're getting the first look at this packed estate sale house, the trust attorney just gave us the keys and you're seeing it the way I'm seeing it...for the first time.
It's all here, this home in a fine St. Petersburg, Florida neighborhood is full of good stuff and we're here to organize, price, promote and sell all of it! But what all do we have?
The living room makes an auspicious start, with a pristine 1920s maple burl dining suite festooned with gracious antique porcelains and glass, a modernist candle set and a few of what prove to be many, many pieces of Portmerion China strewn throughout the house!
Strewn is the operative word...we see collectibles, art and furniture from Asia, Africa and 1940s America, some hidden under piles of books, some under boxed and unopened new household items, some under afghans and vintage blankets! Boudoir collectibles, Fenton and Scandinavian glass, Hummels and Wedgwood, old paper ephemera, Christmas gear and lovely decor items...there is just so much in here to sort, merchandise and price for resellers. (We haven't even looked in the closets of clothes with original tags still on them!)
We talk about what we see, the fun and the fanciful...what we'll do with it is the big topic of conversation. We'll be back with more video to show you what more we find, and how we transform this crowded house into a successful estate sale that will help our client, nostaglia seekers and resellers alike!
Here's some of what you'll see in this video:
Coromandel style screen, nesting tables, Wildflower pressed glass bowl, pattern glass compote, cut glass pitcher, art glass paperweights, African wood figures, Asian wall art, Shannon Crystal ferris wheel, Pasco kissing fish, Charlotte Byj Goebel Redhead, slide collection, childrens books, Peters and Reed lamps, Pyrex, glass side display table, Victorian settee set, Asian low tables, Asian scroll, Goebel birds, Limoges chocolate pot, landscape paintings, Duncan Caribbean port stems, spoon collection, English china and teapots, 1930s bowknot mirror, Victorian marriage manual, polyglot Bible, Noritake China set, 1970s airline cards, carved kidney shaped desks, secretary desk, 1970s French-style bedroom furniture, costume jewelry, Rosewood marimba, 1970s stainless Niello flatware set, horse brasses, magnets, barware, Waterford, Orrefors, ladies' rocker, dog tags, sewing box, 1910s convex frame photo print, formica table, enamelware, globe, etc.

So refreshing to watch someone else shop, Cheaper too. I, being addicted (seriously) to spending money (not yet a hoarder) enjoy just watching it. And of course, it feeds my addiction for a reasonable price. TY from Oregon.

What an amazing amount of quality items, especially the art and furniture. I love that she surrounded herself with things she clearly adored. Tierra Verde is so nice--and I really love Fort DeSoto. We go there about once a month from my area of St. Pete. Until I started following your channel, George, I didn't know you spent time down this way. I am a 4th generation Floridian by birth, but lived many years in NYC as an adult. Now I'm back. I love that Florida "collects" people from all over. We're like a people thrift shop!

At least some of those stuffed animals afound the 13:35 mark are old Steiffs and collectors items. My dad was stationed in Germany and we all had them--they're worth a fair amount now, even worn. Thanks for posting this, it gives me an idea what to look forward to with my aunt, who's very much alive but in her 90s and reluctantly having to downsize and move closer to family and medical facilities. They seem like similar kinds of ladies. Sorry to hear the owner of this estate had passed, she seemed like she was really interesting.

the quilt pattern is called, 'Grandmother's flower garden'. It was a great way to use up all kinds of leftover and small pieces of random fabrics. You are right that those fabrics are more modern. the low arms on the lady's rocker made it much more comfortable with more freedom of arms for a nursing mother to hold the baby and rock them also, and easier too if you were sitting there doing needlework . Higher up arms just got in the way terribly! Best of luck on what looks to be a delightful estate sale

What a great house! something for everyone from all over the globe. That blue bathroom was soooo blue! Bet she had some great designer clothing in that closet. Loved all the Port Merion pieces, Wedgwood, Asian, etc. I admire this woman for traveling so much , whether on her own or with a friend to such faraway places. Maybe she did so for work, or just was well off and could do so. An independent woman, for sure! Looking forward to the sale video. Thank you for showing it all in its original habitat! Even though I took care of my best friend for 4 years before she passed, and am her Executrix, I didn't know where all of her important documents and assets were located. She was very sick and had been so methodical and business-like, but towards the end, she just didn't care. She was parceling out her things towards the end for me to make lists. After she passed in 2003, I found paperwork inside of vases, teapots, trunks, books, etc. I had to look inside of everything. After I parceled out things to the people she wanted to have them, I had to clean out her apartment in two weeks and hauled it all to my garage and house. I collected 8 trash bags full of paperwork into my spare bedroom and it took one year , in my spare time from a full time job, and home and family, to go through it all sort it, contacting all kinds of places, etc. Per the Probate attorney, I had 3 garage sales/ estate sales and what was left over he said to either give away, or keep. I donated a lot to Salvation Army. anyone that came to visit me had to leave with something! I called relatives, in-laws, and friends to bring trucks and take furniture, lamps, pictures, knick knacks, and clothing and shoes! After almost 20 years later, I still find boxes with wrapped items in my rafters that I don't recall seeing before. She had inherited from her German Mom and Grandmother and was a single, only child with no heirs. I have to research so many items from Europe and have learned a lot from you and other resellers. I now have an Ebay store to sell what's left, and just last year sold an Opera length beaded necklace for $400 that I found in the bottom of a box! She has paid me back many times over but I so miss her! We only knew each other 12 years, but we just clicked the first time we met. We were Thelma and Louise! Thanks for your great videos, George!

It is always sad to see the deceased belongings being sold. This lady had great style and I wish she could be there to tell the story behind each item. I have been downsizing for 20 years and although I have got rid of a lot it wasn't easy. I have had to clean out 5 generations of homes and it always brings melancholy and nostalgic. Did she pass suddenly? I always feel sad if no family member wanted the deceased's belongings ,or if the person even had family. She had beautiful antiques and personal items. A lovely cottage. It seems she was in her 70-90 age range. I would love to buy her bedroom furniture and some other pieces throughout the home. This was a lovely home. It looks like she didn't know she wasn't coming home What happened to her It's a shame the people who had first digs just ramshacked the bedrooms.

Could you give me some advice? I'm trying to clean out my brother's house in St Pete. In the last few years he became a hoarder and there are boxes everywhere. I live out of state and went down a few months ago to try and clear it out by myself. I filled up a dumpster with a ton of stuff and hardly made a dent. He was an antique dealer for many years and when I would open a box I never knew if it was just trash or something valuable. I just cleared some pathways thru his house so I could walk. Anyway, I can't do that again. What would be my next step?

I love estate sales. I'm fortunate enough to get to go to a great deal of them and am friends with several of the estate sale professionals in my area. I love this video because most people don't understand just how much work goes into setting up an estate sale. TONS of work.

How to be a good wife: barf. Lol. I love everything else though! The xylophone!!!! I played xylophone in high school, so naturally I’m drawn to that beauty. This estate sale looks like one I’d spend a lot of money at! Btw I got my painting and I love it!!! Thank you very much. It looks awesome in my office-I’ll have to send you a photo.

Hi George! There was a footed pitcher in the display shelf, with the Goebel birds on top, that caught my eye. Loved the oak pedestal. That "Safe Counsel" book looked to be a fun read. The nursery rhymes book was interesting. I tend to go more for the old faery story books, though. I have several of them. Love that game table! The pedestal and the feet on it are definitely my style. Geez!!! You definitely had your work cut out for you with that one! That looked overwhelming! Estate sales are fun to shop, though. Finding overlooked and sometimes difficult-to-find things appear at them that aren't easily found elsewhere. Thanks for the tour!!!

Safe Counsel was a fun read! I like all childrens books, faery tales are good for graphics and gruesomeness sometimes lol. Estate sales are great places to source and fun to do but take a lot of energy!
