Things like CSA or adults inappropriately communicating with kids was never talked about. Topics like CSA or adults developing inappropriate relationships with kids was NEVER talked about and VERY (VERY) few victims came forward. If you look at the statistics from then, versus now, it is staggering. Usher's mom thought she was doing the right thing for her son, just like those parents who sent their kids to boyscout or church camps only to be assaulted thought. I don't think shaming such people like Usher's mom is helpful. It only makes older victims like Usher more determined to keep the secret of their abuse hidden. And, we don't know what conversations Usher has had with his mother. As the parent of a victim, she owes nothing to the public. I just don't see value in shaming a nearly 70 woman.
