I was preparing to go when I heard a TV reporter mention that they had planned for a total of only like 20 something trucks worth of food and drinks to serve the crowd for the whole event. I had some understanding of how much it would normally take to provide for a mass of people(via trucking/logistics industry business in the family). My quick math on the anticipated crowd size would estimate at least 60 trailers minimum. I called everyone I knew who was going and told them not to.

@@jamestaylor3805 We got a bad vibe when we were there. Like some shit was going to go down. We decided to bail Saturday morning. Being at the 94 one as well there was just something not sitting right with us. Completely different atmosphere. Made a lot of friends during 94, some I still keep in touch with to this day.

Limp Bizkit is from Florida, formed in the 90's as a quirky rap-rock outfit... The name was supposedly the stupidest thing they could come up with, but the band was supposed to be an oddball act. Originally formed by Fred Durst (vocals) w/ Sam Rivers (bass) and John Otto (drums)... Limp Bizkit was rounded out by Wes Borland (guitar) and ex-House of Pain member DJ Lethal (turntables). Fred Durst was introduced to the members of KoRn and they put Limp Bizkit in touch w/ their producer Ross Robinson (who would go on to produce Slipknot) and the bad was signed to indie label Flip... Their 1997 debut album "Three dollar bill y'all" was promoted heavily w/ Limp Bizkit opening for KoRn, Primus and becoming a breakout on the Ozzfest '98 tour... MTV made their cover of George Michael's 'Faith' a hit by the fall of '98 and the album sold platinum+... Rap-rock was starting to become big bu$ine$$ by 1999 and Limp Bizkit struck #1 on the US charts & multi-platinum success w/ their 2nd album 'Significant other' ... w/ massive MTV hits - 'Nookie'... 'Break stuff' ... 'Re-arranged' ... They quickly followed it up w/ their 3rd album "Chocolate starship & the hot dog flavored water' charting at #1 again in 2000... another platinum+ hit w/ the singles - "Rollin' " ... 'My generation' ... 'My way' ... 'Boiler'... But by 2002, guitarist Wes Borland ended up quitting Limp Bizkit citing conflict w/ Fred Durst... Limp Bizkit hired Mike Smith (guitar) for their 4th album 'Results may vary' in 2003... Unfortunately, the music was not as memorable and despite Limp Bizkit opening for Metallica in '03... the album did not sell up to expectations. While some of the "nu metal" bands like KoRn, Linkin Park, P.O.D, and Mudvayne grew in popularity in the 2000's... Limp Bizkit was out of the limelight and no longer in demand. The band reunited w/ guitarist Wes Borland in 2009 but their 2011 album 'Gold Cobra' was a commercial and creative disaster. Limp Bizkit would tour occasionally on demand since then but have not released any major records to date. Their 2021 album 'Still sucks' was another disappointment.

Gen X we knew how to have fun! The greedy vendors and the conditions bore what happened.... At Woodstock '99, a single bottle of water cost an astounding $4.00. When vendors ran low on stock, the price even went up to $12.00 per bottle... The festival organizers failed to provide adequate sanitation services. As a result, trash littered the festival grounds, and there were not enough facilities for waste disposal and hygiene. Attendees faced serious health risks due to consumption of sewage-contaminated drinking water. Some suffered from trench mouth, a painful gum infection caused by poor sanitation conditions. But is was a songs fault!

Funny how Jewel was at this Woodstock also. She did great. Who knew Who Will Save Your Soul could be so entertaining in a crowd like that. This is also the festival where Rage Against The Machine burned the flag during Killing in the Name. Crazy festival. Probably why they don’t do it anymore. But there was little Jewel in the middle of it all.

My friends toured with Limp Bizkit in 2021, which was mind-blowing as their second tour. The vocalist is Fred Durst, and the guitarist is Wes Borland. Those are the two iconic people in the band. Both of them do absolutely whatever they want attire wise.

I watched this concert in person. The boards were ripped off the sides of the sound booth that was sitting in the middle of the crowd. This was the point where it became clear to everyone that absolutely no one had control of the situation and security didn't give a shit if you did anything. By the next morning pretty much everything had been destroyed (and it was f-ing awesome).

I watched a documentry about this festival, and this was on the third day of the festival. The crowd had to deal with extreme heat because the festival was set on an airfield with little to no shade, very little water being available, water sources were contaminated from the toilet sections which had flooded and spread to the camping areas, all the vendors had high prices for food and bottled water due to demand being so high at the festival. This show was the spark that ingited the fury in the crowd and they went full on anarchy and broke things, robbed merch stands and vendors, lit massive bonfires and just ruined the festival.

You're absolutely wrong about 'ruining the festival'. This show was an all-timer. Pretty much every band that had sold over a million records in the last five years was there. I stil can't believe tickets weren't $1,000 each. The only people it got ruined for were the pricks that price gouged the crowd and failed to provide basic security for the event. Fuck them.

the thing about this performance is that at Woodstock emotions was building up already due to High Heat Temperatures and Frustration/Anger of folks not being able to get water because of Extreme Price Gouging for bottled water...and when Fred Durst said time to release all that negative energy and frustration they are dealing with...that was the single Match that lit the Powder Keg that made it rain Hellfire and Brimstone at Woodstock 99'.

Durst's vocals isn't about sounding melodic or in tune. It was all about making your energy ride crazy roller coasters of highs and lows during a song. I could tell just watching your reaction that you were feeling that energy. The nu-metal genre is unique in and of itself, but Limp Bizkit was unique amongst the genre.

Fred Durst was also always one of those guys when he was younger to stir the pot and kind of like intentionally be the villian character in music

This was honestly probably the best way you could have been introduced to LB because they're infamous for this performance. The people that ran the festival told them not to play Break Stuff because they knew what it would cause and how people reacted. Those pieces of plywood the people are surfing on are actually pieces from the venue that people literally broke off and destroyed just to rock out to this song. I saw an interview where Fred Durst (the singer) finished their set, went off-stage and was met with police officers for essentially starting a riot. I've read that several people were hurt and even killed in this pit but I dunno if that's true or just rumors.
