Nita Strauss is the female guitarist in Alice Cooper's band doing the guitar solo... She recently released a solo album ('The call of the void') in 2023 w/ Disturbed singer David Draiman contributing vocals to the single 'Dead inside'... (Alice Cooper sang her solo track "Winner takes all")

Alice Cooper is actually the perfect artist for a theater fan... his whole stage show is based on macabre theater. His 1975 album 'Welcome to my nightmare' is a theatrical concept record w/ (late) horror actor Vincent Price contributing a spoken word track... The tour was also a huge theatrical production w/ ballet dancers and costumed characters (It was when he met his wife Sheryl Cooper, who was a ballet dancer on his stage show... They are still married today w/ grandkids) Some of Alice Cooper's popular songs - "School's out" ... 'Eighteen' ... 'Hey stoopid' ... 'Billion dollar babies' ... 'Welcome to my nightmare' ... 'Freedom' ... 'Bed of nails' ... 'Lost in America'... 'Gimme' ... 🤘🤘 Hailing from Detroit, Alice Cooper was born Vince Furnier... he was a popular kid in school who did track and formed a rock band in the 60's w/ his school friends, inspired by The Beatles. After graduation, the band went pro in Phoenix, Arizona under various names w/ Furnier joined by guitarists Michael Bruce & (the late) Glen Buxton, bassist Dennis Dunaway and drummer Neal Smith by 1968 ... They started wearing makeup and provocative clothing to look outrageous as they played gigs in the L.A. scene. When the band needed a new name, Furnier suggested the name 'Alice Cooper'... it sounded demented & misleading cos the band was 5 guys and people would wonder who 'Alice' was. According to Furnier, he started wearing black eyeliner around his eyes because he wanted to look like the demented female character in the 1962 movie - "Whatever happened to Baby Jane?" ... where actress Joan Crawford had makeup running down her face from crying in certain scenes... When the Alice Cooper played live in the clubs, people freaked out and left the room, leaving the band playing to an empty venue. This made Alice Cooper's reputation... Furnier noticed after shows people kept calling him 'Alice' cos he was the singer... So, he decided to legally change his name to Alice Cooper. Frank Zappa first signed Alice Cooper and released 2 albums on his indie label... but they failed to sell. Warner Bros. Records bought Zappa's label in 1970 w/ Alice Cooper on the roster... Manager Shep Gordon saw Alice Cooper clear out an entire room w/ 1 song and thought this was a powerful band; they just needed to redirect their energy to draw people in... He introduced the band to Canadian producer Bob Ezrin who signed on to work w/ Alice Cooper (Bob Ezrin went on to produce major records by Pink Floyd, Kiss, Peter Gabriel, Deep Purple, etc.) One of the first songs Bob Ezrin produced was 'Eighteen' by Alice Cooper... It was a theme of angst and it became a huge hit in late 1970 and the label demanded a full album from Alice Cooper. They released the album 'Love it to death' in 1971 and it made Alice Cooper a sensation overnight... The band dominated the early 70's w/ platinum-selling albums like 'Killer' ... "School's out"... "Billion dollar babies"... As Alice Cooper, he inspired what became the band Kiss... his portrayal of a demented villain onstage made him the original shock rocker - he would beheaded, electrocuted in his act... He would sing 1 song w/ a live boa snake around him... But by 1974, the original Alice Cooper band was at odds w/ Alice Cooper and opted to split up. Alice Cooper launched himself as a solo artist in 1975 w/ the theatrical album 'Welcome to my nightmare'... and was a hit. However, his struggles w/ alcoholism in the 70's and early 80's nearly cost him his life and marriage. By the mid-80's, he was out of a job. In 1986, Alice Cooper announced his return w/ the album 'Constrictor'... he was much more into the hard rock/ heavy metal genre by that point and needed a hit record again... That came in 1989 when the single 'Poison' became a huge hit and his album 'Trash' became a platinum success... He appeared in the 1992 movie "Wayne's World" as himself, performing the single 'Feed my Frankenstein' from his 1991 album 'Hey Stoopid'. Alice Cooper's career seemed to fluctuate in the 90's, but he toured actively w/ his outrageous stage production... However, he was being outdone by the likes of Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie, both being fans of his. In 2000, his modern album 'Brutal planet' marked another career resurgence... followed by 'Dragontown' in 2002... He kept releasing new music and toured actively; his sequel 'Welcome 2 my nightmare' was released in 2011 and featured surviving members of his original band. In 2012, Alice Cooper expanded his live band - female guitarist Orianthi (who was tapped in 2009 to tour w/ Michael Jackson) was added next to guitarists Ryan Roxie & Tommy Henriksen, bassist Chuck Garric and drummer Glen Sobel... It gave Alice Cooper renewed popularity on tour as he shared the stages w/ Iron Maiden, Rob Zombie, and Motley Crue... In 2014, Orianthi left the band to join former Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora and focus on her solo career... Guitarist Nita Strauss, who had played in an Iron Maiden tribute band The Iron Maidens, became her replacement and is still w/ the Alice Cooper band today... His latest album 'Road' (his 22nd album) was released in 2023. Alice Cooper also recently formed the band Hollywood Vampires w/ Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry and actor Johnny Depp (guitar) ... They've released new albums and toured actively.

Alice Cooper was the first guy to let himself being beheaded with a guillotine on stage. So, MOST probably a theater lady will like this crazy good guy. He is in business for so long, that half of all guitar pro's would kill to be honored with being in his band, so yes, he can pick ANY guitarist he wants. And he hired this lady. F' yeah. And she deserves this place of course. This guy knows how to keep you watching everything happening on stage. He is one of the coolest people on earth, funny polite, theatrical, and smart. Someone I like to watch being on stage in the age of 90. The Keith Richards of heavy rock. Hopefully.

Nita Strauss is a badass guitarist! Seen her with Alice a year ago this month! She has a couple solo albums that rock! The newest one has a song featuring David Draiman of Disturbed. She got her start as the guitarist for the Iron Maidens, an all female Iron Maiden cover band. Alice is in his 70’s and still puts on one of the best live shows around! I met Alice Cooper in 2010 after his show in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He is one of the most approachable rock stars there is. He always makes time for his fans. He was quoted as saying that when I'm out in public my life belongs to my fans because they made me what I am and I owe them. He took the time to sign a couple of CDs for us and to posed for a couple of pictures. Great guy.

This is the song that first introduced me to Alice back in 89, and I have been a fan ever since. Have seen him several times and he always puts on an amazing show. Unlike most musicians, he does not actually interact with the crowd because his shows are all one big theatrical show. He has an interesting history as well. His father was a christian evangelist and Alices whole persona was a complete rebellion to his upbringing. He was an extreme alcoholic for many years, and after he got sober he said he had been close to dying many times and he knew he had to give it up. His stage persona though could not be further removed from the real him. He is an incredibly nice guy and loves to play golf. He also has a side band called The Hollywood Vampires, which features Joe Perry from Aerosmith and Johnny Depp. He also knows how to pick great musicians. One of his current guitarists is Nita Strauss, who you see in the video, and she is a guitar virtuoso. Before her he had Orianthi as one of his guitarists, who is also a guitar virtuoso. As a theatre kid, you would love his stage show.

Ok, I'll break it down for the Gen-Z folks in the audience. "Alice" is the old guy, lol. The band name was "Alice Cooper", and the lead singer (Vincent) legally changed his name to Alice in the 70s. His music is incredibly varied, there's no single song you can point to that is indicative of his style. He's done metal, rock, big band, classical, crooning like a lounge singer... you name it, there's an Alice Cooper song in that style. Biggest Hits: Welcome to my Nightmare Billion Dollar Baies Feed My Frankenstein No More Mr. Nice Guy We're All Clones Poison (a.k.a. The Stripper song) School's Out Interesting facts: Alice owns one of the Letter "O" in the Hollywood sign. He recorded two albums in the 70s on a drug bender that he didn't even realize he recorded until he saw them in a record store years later. He makes an appearance in the movie "Wayne's World", and is featured on the Guns and Roses track "The Garden", but there have been countless cameos and guest appearances in mainstream media. He owned a bar in Arizona from 1998 to 2017 Called "Alice Cooper's Town" (a play on the famous "Cooper's Town Bar"), which was co-owned by Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine and local hard-rock radio host Dave Pratt. Singer Tina Turner's career was launched into stardom on her cover of Alice Cooper's song "Only Women Bleed". He is also one of the most often cited inspirations for musicians across many, many genres.
@neilens1589
@neilens1589 Ай бұрын
I love Alice Cooper, but Ike & Tina Turner's cover of Only Woman Bleed had ZERO to do with launching Tina's career. It's a very deep track on a very unimportant album, and it doesn't even warrant a footnote in her career story. Very good song by Alice, however, and Julie Covington did record a hit cover version.

Alice Cooper is a rock legend I've seen him four times over four decades the latest time was 2021, he sounds exactly the same as he did 40 years ago, there is no replacement for Alice Cooper ever. his look was born sometime in the 70s and you would have to read into it or ask him about it. his stage shows are about as big as it gets and Theatrical from start to finish his wife is also a still in his shows playing very physical roles 66 or 67 years old. oddly enough Alice Cooper is also an Evangelical Christian. His guitarist is Nita hurricane, one of the greatest guitarists of Our Generation and possibly the greatest female Rock guitarist of all time, I saw her in a club that sat 200 people, probably suffered hearing damage and glad of it. as for future songs I would recommend billion dollar babies and you and me

In 1973, my high graduating class voted Alice Cooper's "Schools Out" to be our Class Song. The school fought us, but finally caved when 97% of the class signed a petition stating if the song wasn't played, we wouldn't show up. On the day of graduation, we set up to hold it on the football field (which had always been an option, weather depending). And as we were gathering for our last minute instructions, they broke the news to us that they had no way to play Schools Out through the PA on the football field - it wasn't equipped for it. My class, true to their word, got up and was going to walk out. The Vice-Principal was falling all over himself, trying to stop them. I held everyone up and asked him point blank, if there was a way to play it, would they? He said of course. So I told everyone to stall and give 10 minutes. I went out and pulled the 8-Track player out of my car, took it up to the annoucers booth, and wired it into the PA. I got Schools Out cued up on the tape and gave the AV flunky instructions as to how and when to switch it in. Then I went and told everyone we were all set. I'm not sure if the Vice-Principal didn't believe I could pull it off. Or if he just decided not to tell any of the other faculty members and guests sitting up on the stage. Because there were sure a lot of surprised faces when Alice started blaring out the PA - right after the Principal started in with " Due to technical difficulties, we won't be able . . ." 😅

Alice Cooper is a true rock theater performer. His shows are epic. One of my friends with muscular dystrophy got to see him live, being held up by friendly strangers next to him so he could see through the crowd, and then got to meet AC, who is also a HUGE supporter of numerous charities. It was a highlight of his life to meet Alice Cooper and get a picture and autograph with him. Terrible genetic disease that takes too many too soon. "Buddha" was a good friend and lived a hard life as an invalid. I know he accepted his fate at a young age but he never stopped working to enjoy life.

The song actually came out in the late eighties. The version of the band you see here is his original band members, minus Nina, from the sixties. The band was originally called Alice Cooper and he was too. When he went solo he was still called Alice Cooper of course. Most of his best known hits are from the band was AC. Poison is from his solo albums. He has different guitarist almost every tour. Nina was with him for awhile though. She is doing her own album and tour now. I saw him for the first time in the eighties and his guitarist at the time was Kane Roberts. He was very tall man who looked like a body builder. Megadeth opened at that time. I saw him a couple of years ago and Halestorm opened for him.

Hey Charis ! Most of what I intend saying has already been mentioned, but what I would like to add is Alice has a great knack of leaving his character onstage. He is one of the sweetest guys offstage, but when he hits the stage his ‘Alice persona’ takes over. He surrounds himself with the best musicians when recording albums and his current touring band has had the same lineup since 2014, barring the end of 2022 when Nita took a short term contract to play with Demi Lovato. Alice encouraged her to take that contract as he wants the best for his friends and he treats this band like a family. Nita was welcomed back to the Alice band at the start of 2023. I had the pleasure of seeing Alice & band play last month here in Australia and they always deliver the BEST quality concert. May I suggest listening to two albums, Welcome To My Nightmare (1975) and From The Inside (1978). You will hear a very different Alice to the one that recorded ‘Poison’ (originally in 1989). Enjoy & keep up the great work !!!

This recording is 2017 but the song is almost 40 years old. Here I gave you a few titles of some of the best tracks of his from the beginnings of the career: only women bleed, school's Out, Desperado, I'm 18, billion dollar babies, muscle of love, black widow, dead babies, be my lover, welcome to my nightmare (a must), elected, you and me. And there's a song called "halo of flies" and it's a very theatrical piece; it was written out of spite and anger at a musical critic who called the band's music simplistic and primitive. So they wrote this one and now he can't call it that. It's not my favourite but it sure is very interesting. The newest album "road" is great, essential rock. My favourite though are Last Temptation, Brutal Planet (heavy-metalest in his repertoire, I think), Dirty Diamonds, Trash, and Hey Stoopid. He sings in various rock (and around) style. No other artist that I know has such chalk and cheese span, just compare "brutal planet" (song) with "last man earth" with "desperado" and "welcome to my nightmare" or "you and me" I've seen Alice live twice, proudly own a few autographs and will gladly see him again with no fear of disappointment. A month of Alice Cooper is a healthy breakfast to me.

I got into Alice Cooper in Australia in 1975 when I was 14 with Welcome to my Nightmare. Cold Ethyl, always a favourite for me!! Brilliant album to this day!!

The crazy thing is that you have the same personally as Alice's daughter. I'm good friens with the band, and I noticed it right away.

Fun fact: Alice Cooper performed in the live network production of "Jesus Christ Superstar", singing the role of King Herod (and one interview quotes him as being "typecast" for the role). The broadcast featured John Legend as Jesus and Sarah Bareilles as Mary Magdalene.

Alice Cooper was my first concert. Saw him at an armory in a small Michigan town. I remember that the tickers were only .50 cents for the show.

The one bit of other background I’d add is that this is the main hit from “Trash,” his take on hair/glam rock and one of the best of the genre. Also, Nita’s solo has some themes from “Welcome to My Nightmare,” probably Alice’s seminal album from 1975.

The Alice Cooper song you would most like have heard before is "Schools Out". I would also recommend "Wrlcome to My Nightmare" "Feed My Frankenstein" and "He's Back (The Man Behind the Mask". If you want even more theatrics you should look into King Diamond.

This is so old I was young when it came out ;) Hail to the DuckQueen! You know better than most he can't see ANYONE in the crowd with those stage lights pointed right at him. He's just pointing randomly for dramatic effect.

He's one of the great rock showmen. I've seen a few of his shows, and just love the theatricality - but that's been there from the beginning. You can see it right there in numbers like Billion Dollar Babies from 50 years ago.

An old fart here: I used to go this youth center for volunteer work. They had this old Jukebox with those disc shaped records in it. This song was on one those records. I think this was the one song I would play the most. Just imagine that old gravely sound of an old record player, blasting this song. Still gives me the goose bumbs.

If you want really old stuff, then give "Under my Wheels" (from the '71 album "Killer") or "School's Out" (from the '72 album with the same name) a listen. If you've (unknowingly) heard Alice Cooper before, chances are pretty high, that it was "School's Out". He also collaborated with Twisted Sister for "Be Chrool To Your Scuel" for their '85 album "Come Out and Play".

Saw him like 10 years ago and he sounded much better than Vince Neil(Motley Crue was co-headlining the show) and he is like 15 years older than Vince. Much of that comes from clean living. If you want to see his earlier work, see "School's Out" or "Welcome To My Nightmare".
