Today I am going to show you how to make a simple drill press table. The table is built to accept zero clearance inserts and has a fence with a stop block. After watching this video you'll be able to make a simple drill press table.

Really liked the overall quality of the unit kzfaq.infoUgkxajoEbapTfqWaadnqb04h6U576yxXp-FE . No, it's not a professional level drill press. I bought this product for one reason and one reason only: it adds value to a product I already have (a dremel tool).I was able to use this tool to secure my dremel. Dremel owners and users probably can sympathize that often holding your oddly shaped (and sometimes fragile) workpiece and the dremel at the same time can be cumbersome. This completely eliminates the need to hold the dremel, which is a huge overall improvement to control.I would consider this a must have for anyone who regularly uses a dremel.

Best home made table I’ve seen so far. Intend to make one for my bench press. Absolutely loved the ‘offset insert’. Puzzled until you explained the rotational aspect. Just a totally brilliant tip!!!

Clean and simple. Very nice! The offset is a great idea! Though I may make mine circular. That way, instead of having just four sacrificial spots, there would be a dozen or more, depending on the wear of the sacrificial piece.

Nice build... I'll be making a slightly smaller version for my 8" bench-top Craftsman. The only change I'll do to your design is to make the fence to base t-track holes slots to allow the fence to be angled when needed. I think 1-2" slots will work nicely and allow the fence to sit at an angle (like how a router table fence works).

I made one for my Montgomery Ward electronic variable speed drill press some time in the 70`s. It is still on there. Differences are there were no T tracks. I used a 6” tall fence with 6” base, 4 right angle triangles to brace it, C clamps to place in position on each side. Crude but it works. I may upgrade.

Without accommodation for clamps in the T-track, there’s no reason to have the T-track extend to the front of the table: the fence will never be positioned there.

Subscribed. Beautiful table. It makes work safer too. This project is great for many people. And I may add a table to my drill press. But really, instead, or in addition to, I want more of a multi-spindle, multi-tool CNC setup under a long set of CNC pedestal rails, like one long X axis, with a carriage that has a 4 motor Z axis, with a Y axis setting on top of that. With say 5 or 6 spindles, all permanently tooled up, or at least for a given job, with the assumption that you can do the job with different 6 tools. For the money that you can buy a tool changer, and the tool holders, you can probably buy a bunch of spindles, some of which may can be lower power, and be able to multiple "cars" on the long X axis, forming an assembly line that for about the same money, can run much faster than a single CNC with a tool changer.

Great video! I’m gonna build one. Good solution for the table crank clearance issue too. I might take one of my sacrificial inserts and glue it to the bottom of a cookie sheet or maybe a metal pie pan to use when drilling or countersinking metal stuff ( to contain shavings, cutting oil). Just a idea I had to save time removing the table for messy, nasty stuff. I subscribed!

Thats a great vid and the table is basic but very good. One thing I wondered is why the maple front edge didnt have cutouts for sliding the fence off, and for sliding adjustable hold-downs onto. But thats a simple mod. And I like your design. great stuff

It was a brainfart on my part. If I ever need to I can go back and chisel out the channels but so far I haven't needed to. Thanks for watching!

Nice video. Thanks for making /sharing it. One other video I watched on drill press tables they uses a circle instead of the square design for the area to be damaged when you drill thru and then could just rotate it abit to have a fresh area.

I thought about that but figured cutting out circles would be a lot more time consuming than the way I did it. Definitely a good approach though!

The Average Craftsman, get a big-ass hole saw, and size the ‘socket’ in the table to the size the hole-saw produces. That way, creating a new insert is a simple matter of popping the hole saw into the press, and cutting out a set of inserts all at once.
