Gotta say they struck gold with Jason Todd becoming DC's answer to the punisher.

I always thought Jason Todd, the black sheep of the bat-family, was my favorite robin eventually into Red Hood. In a way he was a precursor to Damian Wayne years later and when he became red hood he was like the original batman, in terms of personality, that he was willing to kill villians. Also in many ways Jason is right when it comes to batman's own moral code is very fallible that letting people like Joker and others that have the same outlook like him, willing to kill Innocents is something Jason is not going to allow, there's also been many times where jason had overpower Batman and even defeated him for example in the Injustice 2 comics Red Hood was able to beat Batman within an inch of his life and also managed to gain the upper hand on him during the battle.

you mentioned how jason came from the streets and had his own perspective on crime and i really wish DC did more with this. he's really the only robin who can rival bruce in that respect and i think it's quite hurtful when it's batman who throws him out of the city because gotham is his. it's really fucked-up. i wish he had a standalone story, too, not just headbutting with batman intermittently.

I love red hood. His lethal force use paints a darker very dc vigilante. It also brings more of a sense of realism, I think heroes are just as cool as super heroes and I would love to see more of it. Bats has so much tech he might as well have super powers. Meanwhile Jason has a very “here hold this .45 for me” mentality

Man. These stories are so epic yet tragic. I remember when Death in the Family came out and much later reading the Under the Hood story as an adult.

It's not even because he used the same pool as Raas Al Gul, the Lazarus Pit is an evil method of resurrection that won't bring you back as you were before

Great video, love these character story breakdowns. Would be nice to see a mix of well known and slightly more obscure characters for these. Love learning more about the characters I know but would also be nice to learn about characters who's stories I haven't read to get ideas on what to read in the future.

I will say though Jason Todd makes a decent point in the under the Red Hood series basically Batman sending all these people to prison doesn't do Jack f****** squat if he actually would kill them they'd be dead hell if he killed joker he would save millions and millions of people

Personally the new 52 costume of red hood I loved when they put that bat emblem on him it was literally like putting a cherry on the top

A storyline I would love to see for red hood would be him learning to get along with the other members of the bat family like Damain or Tim

Only thing I wish they would stop doing is displaying jason getting beat alot. He was trained by the league of shadows under Talia, and was even trained in combat by an interdimensional cast called the all cast. They need to show his grear combat skills more along side his cunning

Honestly I’m confused as to why none of the main criminals in Gotham are sentenced to death? Like everytime they get out they kill more and more ppl the killing all could just stop if those guys die like why not sentence them to death even chicken robot made a parody about this lmao

The way i feel it , Jason Todd will canonically lose it one day and become the Mr.J , Joker of the future. Because the failed comedian became redhood for sometime before turning into Mr.J and history will repeat itself when a failed Robin will find a sick sense of humour in the way Batman will give up on fighting crime a pass over the mantle to the merciless Damian Wayne. That's when Jason quits his Red Hood to be the Mr.J , taking on all off Gotham's mafia will give him resources, knowledge of Wayne's will help him create elaborate plots as well as hire endless list of criminals to do his bidding. Jason Todd already started off with Damian Wayne by shooting him , also there was an episode of Batman Beyond where Timmy Drake was shown to be in Jason's situation of being captured by the clown prince of crime and do become the Joker in future.

Why does the villan always win they marvel should make it that Jason gets his revenge and kills batman and then the entire bat family and then travels to a different universe and later on becomes so strong he can destroy anything then later on all the people he has killed come back to life for anger only to he killed again anyways this video was absolutely amazing keep on the good work and I want it that villans sometime win at least it's no fair and then after the villans defeat there gonna start talking about being fair plus the villans always has the saddest back story's and never get there revenge unless it's like anime when the hero or villan has sympathy with I want marvel heros to have

I don’t see what was wrong with the ORIGINAL Jason Todd the redhead. The aren’t many redhead sidekicks so why get rid of him. Plus he could wear a black hair wig on patrol and have his regular red hair for when he is Jason and even if he looked similar to Robin people would say well Robin doesn’t have red hair. So good an the disguise front.

With crisis on infinite earths happening in the late 80’s as a way to streamline the company’s comic continuity it’s hard to know what is still accepted as official canon to the characters cause even in the 80’s Superboy got retconed into his own hero and not part of Superman’s backstory going forward I wouldn’t say Jason was a popular robin cause the a death in the family storyline gave Jason’s fate up to the reader to vote on and the unanimously vote to have the joker take him out even though It was to to young to have voted being I was 4 when it was done but hearing that tow-face killed his father does make the circus scene in Batman forever make more sense now it feels like Joel Schumacher mixed together dick Greyson and Jason Todd together personality wise and had him wear Tim drake’s version of the robin suit and mixing the origins together also with two-face being the one who killed dick’s family instead of a mob gang like in the comics and why he was so fixated on getting revenge on two-face in the movie
