In the Dark Knight Returns, Batman kills the Joker by snapping his neck. Was it intentional? Maybe not. But the Joker still died because of Batman. This outraged the Gotham Police department.

Have you read a recent Batman comic lately? Bruce Wayne lost his trust fund. He is forced to move out of Wayne manor and into a brownstone house. Then Batman has limited resources that he could use to fight crime. On top of that, Vandal Savage buys up Wayne Manor just to keep Batman out of the Batcave

the issue you're facing with the "Modern Cape" vs the utilitization of the medieval armor cape... that cape you were wearing probably weighed less than 20% of the Armor Cloak. As such, its physical properties didn't really allow for sitting on it as it was a lot more rigid. however, the armor style cape is weighted and multi-plied giving it much higher durability at the cost of extra weight. Armor cloaks were also necessary against natural elements like rain, snow, and dusty winds.

A cape makes the most sense and practical for Batman. Besides all the protection it provides, he's also trying to hide himself and strike fear into his enemies. No cape, he will just look like another person.

Batman wears a cape. End of story. Just like all impractical superhero suits and powers, someone will come up with justification for it. Also, depending on the length, you can get used to wearing a cape. I did a play forever ago, and wore a cape as part of my attire for almost a month. You kind of learn to work with it. Still impractical for a vigilante, but yeah.

In my opinion Christian Bale was a great Bruce Wayne shitty Batman... Ben Affleck I believe was a great mesh of both Batman and Bruce Wayne as Batman he brought a gritty dirty aspect of the character... Definitely redeemed him from dare devil 🤔

He began as the 3rd Robin. Then he became Red Robin. But DC made him the Gay Robin. He was even The Drake wearing a brownish superhero costume. He also became the Future Batman who wanted to kill Batwoman. He was Batman Beyond when Terry McGinnis died. Then he returned to being Robin. Now he is the forgotten male Robin who isn't Nightwing, Red Hood or Damian.

You forgot the two Batman actors in the two movie serials. Ben Affleck had the same weakness as the Adam West Batman...they had terrible costumes. Of course the 2nd movie serial Batman suffered from this as well. As a kid I was so excited that there was going to be a Batman TV series. Terribly let down by the campiness of it. Hated Adam West's Batman but felt his Bruce Wayne was okay except for his Batman movie where he overacted. Val Kilmer is one of the best in both roles to me but Bale and more recently Pattison are at least as good. Hilarious that though he played a vampire in five Twilight movies but he doesn't get the Dracula cloak till he plays The Batman!

Basically the dude likes to kneel on the ledges of tall buildings and wants to be dry and warm. But i bet sometimes he just wants to take a dump and doesent want to get jumped. Its probably an uncomfortable moment when your trying to drop a duece and you hear the sound of a coin flip or the joker trying to tell you how he got his scars.

Great video! As much as I love Batman, I think Marvel's Night Thrasher is the best design for a modern realistic superhero. Helmet and body armour in a black and red aesthetic (perfect for blending into the dark), and no dangling bits anywhere. Also, he's got his nightsticks to aid in combat.

Nice work on this. However, IMHO, the BEST interpretation of both Batman and Bruce is Batman The Animated Series. Kevin Conroy nailed this, especially with the two different voices.

As much as I love Batman, the only problem is that his technology is so specialized it would require entire teams to create much of the equipment that he uses, making it impossible to keep his identity a secret. That's why I feel Tony Stark a bit more because he just says I am Iron Man off the break then just gets down to business using all of his resources to publicly make bigger and better toys. Screw the secret identity. Let's get some funding and build some s***.

Also in some Superman media it's mentioned that keeps help with the aerodynamics. Now I'm no expert in aerodynamics but I doubt that's true. Nevertheless this is fiction we're talking about so writers can brighten the function or purposes of a cape all they want. One thing is certain though it looks cool.

If i ever had the opportunity to write a batman story. Id have the cape be a memory fabric that can change shape. Become longer. Or dramtically shorter. Fan out to glide. Or become ridge as a sheild. It's almost like a piece of tactical shape shifting armor.

@thebatcave111 I'm definitively team cape. As we know the cape is not only part of the costume like the cape you are wearing at Halloween but its also part of Batmans suit and armor. We also know it is made out of a "special fabric" which can be hard or flexible. So it is used as a camouflage, shield for him and others, fall protection, wing, storage, footprint remover, distraction, target-him-obstruction, weapon and when separated as a (emergency) blanket or standing on its own as a mock-up. All this is possible today in the real world, too. You can more or less easily have pockets on the inside, bags with compressed air/helium/..., weights at the bottom, Kevlar fiber, foil displays on the outside, wingsuit like polyester Elasthan combinations and electrostatic fiber. And yes emergency blankets are made out of polyester too. We know nothing about the shape of the weights so they could make cuts too, which would explain some cuts in the comics and why so many enemies escape or step back from the cape. Besides it is possible he has more features which are not mentioned. Because if the cape is at least in parts magnetic it could also be attached to the arm and/or leg armor temporarily when needed. This way it would be out of the way. That also would explain why he can have such a tight silhouette when he is at a crime scene and doesn't want to contaminate any helpful proof. This is often seen in the animated series. Another reason for his cape is also not mentioned in the video: Maybe you need to learn how to use it properly and that's why there are no/not many(?) occasions at which someone tries to fake he is batman while he is in fact not. So it could be some kind of copy protection. Regarding your own tests: Try a Hakama to move and fight in it (Kendô/Ninjutsu/Aikidô/Iaidô) at first you only moan but than you become used to it. And the Hakama also hides your moves and where your legs are which makes a precise cut to them harder and to see when you start an attack. And I see like with a Hakama a cape is maybe not for everyone. But for a "Bat" which prefers basic skills and technology it fits. As like as Jarvis fits for Ironman. Some like it some don't. And I can't see a Batman without a cape really fit the role. Would be like Wolverine without claws, Wonder Woman without the rope of truth, Godzilla sized like a T-Rex and without the ray or Popeye without his spinach... In reality someone fighting 20 guys alone and barely surviving it would be unbelievable. But Batman with the cape we believe could do it without a scratch. If he has none we aren't so confident and he needs to be armored like a Mech from Battletech or Robocop himself. So no, there is no alternative. Sorry to spoil your truth.
