I have a Whirlpool Front loader Washer Duet model that gives a error code F-02 which is a good indicator that it's not draining properly. We bought the washer and dryer on cragslist for $200. It was a great deal, but I got distraught after a couple of months, I started getting the error code and it was taking forever to do a load of wash. After looking through the internet, I found some videos that helped, but there wasn't one I was finding that took you through the entire process. I hope that I have done that with this video, and have made it clear and simple for you to do the same, saving some money on repairs.
Thank you all so much for watching!!

The internet is amazing, isn't it? One moment, you're looking at a $200 repair bill. The next moment, you watch a great video from someone like The Bearded Woodworker, and you've fixed the problem yourself and saved all that money! Amazing...

My brother, and I fixed ours. We have two dogs. A pit bull, and husky mix (so you know it’s extra fluffy some times 😑). We thought that our clog was going to be a huge a$$ hair ball, but it was a stocking cap. 😂😂. We resided ourselves to buying a whole new washer, but our old one is still in great condition. Thanks a lot for the video. My brother, and I feel like handy men now. 😎 💪🏿🔨 🪛

FANTASTIC, easy to follow video! I am a 67 year old lady and did the repair myself in about 15 min. Only had to take off the bottom front panel. Didn't even have to pull it out from the wall. Found several coins and a good bit of lint blocking the drainage holes. Cleaned it thoroughly, replaced it with no problem and have a test load running now. Thanks again SO MUCH!

This was so helpful! We tried washing an old bath mat, and unbeknownst to us, the entire rubber backing dissolved and went straight down the drain. Thank you so much for posting this, I was able to open up the panel pretty easily, but got completely confused once I actually started poking around in there. Thanks to you, our laundry has been saved!

Lol. Thank you for this. Opened the panel and “cleaned” the trap three different times over the years, never really fixing it…until, in the beginning of your video, you reminded me of these cool little holes behind the rubber gasket that might be blocked. Felt pretty dumb pulling back the edge to find the equivalent of an end-of-day SuperCuts waste bin laying like a small wet mammal across all five holes. I need to remember: RTFM, check YT…then check YT again and listen to every word of someone who’s fixed the problem you have. (And don’t forget the simplest explanation.) Thank you for the vid!!

Great advice! Fixed my washer in record time thanks to this video! Seriously thought it would be an all day thing, but it was just a sock stuck inside the gasket :) Now I can kick back and see if my couch is still where I left it! UPDATE: It wasn't as simple as that and I ended up having to unclog the drain trap. Your instructions worked even for my Maytag. I found a sock, two pencils, a broken chapstick, and a $20 and 57 cents among other gross unidentifiable things. The smell was putrid, but profitable! Thanks again!

THANK YOU!!! I was just about to go Memorial Day Sale shopping figuring my 10 yr old washer was not worth fixing, but your video saved me a lot of money. The trap was not too bad, but then I opened up the back and disconnected where the drain meets the tub. There were socks at the bottom of the tub. My model has a float where the tub meets the drain making it difficult to get past that junction. Is by far the best video on KZfaq to solve this problem. Thanks again!

2022 and this is still a great how to and fix. Exactly as shown with extra steps I’d recommend. Get as much water out of inside. Cup Scoop and towels. And I think as shown get your filter out, pull forward, to drain easier into a bucket. Hopefully you can raise or already raised unit. If not use some sort of flat cookie sheet type pan or container to catch water or just grab a ton of towels. Our filter had minimal items. But awesome to see how easy to unclog if needed. We ended up replacing drain pump and that was just as easy. Disconnect the 2 pipes (big black into back of filter & white going out from pump) with the clamps using pliers. You’re working in small area to get clamps squeezed to pull pipes so keep that in mind and maybe a flash light to help see clamps better. Also, unplug the wiring harness from side of pump motor-very easy plug and play type wire plug. Working the entire unit of the filter is easy with how they have it rubber mounted to floor of that machine. Be careful not to break or exert too much. Little back and forth tug and you should loosen and see how to gently remove. Once you can get filter and pump out, 3 screws to detach motor pump. You can either order that entire filter/pump or just the pump motor. Both ways under $30 from Amazon. I did both for $50 since I couldn’t find model # of Maytag and wanted back up if one didn’t fit. I tried just pump first with success. Backup of filter and pump is insurance should this happen again. Once motor pump screwed on to side of filter, reattached entire unit back. Getting the pipes back on and clamped a bit of challenge but again light and good pliers and making sure clamps seeded well to make sure no leaks. Plugged back in the power harness to pump and re-plugged washer back into outlet and ran an empty quick wash test. No leaks, no error code, super happy to see this video to follow, less the cat. Already running clothes successfully. Thx to all for comments. Easily a task anyone could do given torque screwdriver, pliers, lighting, replacement parts and some buckets and towels. FYI, if you see SUDS code, probably a big hint either clogged filter and easier fix or your pump about to go like ours. And you’re most likely gonna get the error code F 02 and dead cycles to not complete any loads.

Hi Gary the Bearded Wood Worker…you are one great KZfaq instructor, right to the point. I do have the same machine the Duet Whirlpool and it constantly giving me the F02 error code. It took me almost all night doing single load due to this error and this morning I was about to call a repair technician and for some reason went to YT to get info on this problem and it was your video that came out first, took my screw driver and followed your instructions and took me about 15 minutes to do it and saved about $300. Thanks so much for posting this. I have owned my set for 18 years and my husband will, at the sign of first problem, prepare to buy a new appliance. I fixed our old fridge 5 years ago for $25 (a fan), and have replaced the squirrel cage in the dryer for about $50 (ball point pens in it). I knew there had to be something fairly simple going on here. I am about to tear into it, and even if I have to replace the pump, it is still a bargain compared to buying new. And yay! The 2005 grey set I bought is now back in fashion and fits our new industrial farmhouse look. Thanks, again! BTW, we have used the leaf blower method of cleaning out the dryer vent, and it DOES work, quite hilariously. Give it a try.

OK, awesome video! I just performed this fix. I found about a buck fifty worth of change, the remnants of an old pocket knife (the blade was gone), various parts of pencils, what I think was a AA battery, a paintbrush, several screws, a 4-inch long copper-nail (I kept that one) and of course, a fist full of grey goo. Whirlpool should bill this as a time capsule feature. Thanks for the help.

Sorry to hear, Sam. I also believe that if your pump goes out, it will also give you the same error code. I guess it is a not draining code. I don't have a video, nor am I an appliance repair guy, but perhaps look into replacing your pump. I think it is pretty easy and inexpensive. The pump is right next to (or even connected to) the drain. Good luck!
