Thanks to our growing Patreon community, we are able to cover most the cost of our recent cherry picker rental! Patreon funding goes directly toward renovating the historical Chateau de Lesigny!
Special thanks to our dear Patrons: Andrea, Bailey, Jesse, Bernadette, Theo, and Morgan for your outstanding support of this Beau Chateau!
You can help support our renovation projects by joining our Patreon Community and gain access to exclusive videos, updates and more!
Join us, Daphne and Ian, as we embark on our new chateau renovation projects! This week, we explore our hanger to see if there are any marble scraps available to use in our bathroom remodel. We get a new gardening tool to help reshape the trees on our terrace, and we take the advice of our viewers to buy a wall steamer to finish removing the wallpaper!
Our "beau chateau" (The 500-year-old, Chateau De Lesigny), is located near Paris, France. Most of the structures around the chateau domain need a full restoration, so we are investing everything we have into making the property thrive! We are learning more about french culture and developing new skills along the way!
As a French/American UC Berkeley graduate in Agriculture (Daphne), and a U.S. Air Force Tactical Response Force Veteran/ Kinesiologist (Ian), we share a love for challenges and adventure. We have a long road ahead of us and we are excited to share the experience with you!
You can support our renovation projects by joining our Patreon Community, where you can also gain access to exclusive videos and behind the scene access with Daphne and Ian! All patron funding is used to renovate this historical French Chateau. Every patron is paramount to our chateau renovations and we thank you all tremendously!

I’m sure I was only one among many to suggest the wall steamer. One additional suggestion for the future, start at the ceiling and work your way down. Keep the steamer out in front of the process. While scraping the newly softened/steamed area, start steaming the next patch. Gravity and a downward motion with the scraping tool will assist with the wallpaper rolling off and falling to the floor. Great luck. Great progress. Continued success.

The wallpaper steamer is the winner. Scratch the paper in a criss cross pattern and the paper gets softer quicker and it all comes off faster.

Suggestion #2 - there is a small hand roller with little spikes on it. You roll it on the wall creating little holes in the wall paper. Then, spray the wall with fabric softener and a little water. Let it sit for an hour, then scrape.

DO NOT get rid of the old marble bathroom, it’s GORGEOUS. Also, the grey and white one if it’s Carrara is very valuable. The marble quarry is almost done because it became really trendy. The 80s music was perfect!

It’s so good that you are taking down the ivy covered trees. They ivy sucks the life out of them. Chateau LaLacelle had one come down in the storm two weeks ago. It had almost no roots left, thanks to the ivy. The terrace looks beautiful. Sell the marble tubs and use the money for a landscape crew to help you. It’s such back braking work. Loved you tandem ride/operate the tractor. Great teamwork 🙂

😊It is surely amazing what the vegetation grows over such a Pandora’s box! You did mention Daphne that the Germans during WW2 stole a lot of the art possessions from the Chateau that is unbelievable, though there was a movie made about a specific team of American soldiers and art specialists to seek the recovery after the war. I suppose it would be an impossible task to know what was exactly taken, did your Grandfather ever have anything regarding this, diaries, notes etc, would be fascinating hey. Anyway love what you and Ian are putting together great videography and very calming commentary that puts us all at ease. Take care and be safe 👍😇🇫🇷🙏🏰
