It’s focused on interviewing but the information in there is amazing! Science based (and they list the studies) behavior analysis. 10/10

Between everyone on JD’s team you see trust, people working together, and true support from top to bottom. I know there are no absolutes but if I was working in the law profession I would love to work for this law firm.

Couldn't agree more. Whitney's expressions and actions reminds me of how I'd behave with my ex husband. If i knew he was angry or on the verge of exploding into a rage, my chin would go down, I'd make myself as invisible as possible. I'd fall into step behind him and I would take all my cues from him. I think AH's victims extend to more than just Johnny Depp. I'm sorry you endured that as a child. Children are precious and should be protected at all costs.

I noticed the same.

Throughout the trial I thought the same thing. In comparing both sides of lawyers I thought Amber's lawyers were terrible. Now I don't think that way. Amber's side knew she was a nut and totally guilty so they had to represent her the best way they could. No warmth, no conviction of her innocence cuz they knew! Johnny's side knew he was innocent and worked very well knowing that.

Same!! I felt nothing when Amber testified. In fact, I rolled my eyes several times during her testimony. The exact opposite happened when Johnny testified and when Ben got emotional in the interviews. Mind you, watching Johnny testify at this trial was the first time I had heard him talk about the abuse he sustained in that relationship. I had not one preconceived notion about anything in their relationship. I did not know anything about it.

As a juror, you would also know that social media reactions would be very passionate and often unreasonable (that goes for supporters of both sides), given the sensitive subject matter and the celebrity factor. No surprise there. Even if they did get glimpses of that, it wouldn't contain anything unexpected.

I mostly agree… but there’s something to be said for social contagion. It’s *possible* for public opinion to become a downhill runaway train, in a way it never could with 9 people isolated from one another to formulate initial opinions, and then brought to a room to debrief, negotiate and decide.

I think emotionally connecting with others is very much ingrained in human nature. When we sense dishonest emotions, we have trouble connecting. That's with Amber. When she's recounting her stories of horrible abuse, no one wept with her. Instead, we felt uncomfortable and wanted her to stop.

AH's whole presentation was based on character assassination and not on evidence. It is not surprising that her lawyer clung to that strategy in defending her own failure. They were a good match.

Facts, that's why I was confused when everybody said they felt bad for Elaine that she had no case because of her client. She took the case having to know who her client was. Her interviews after just confirmed what I always felt. They're just not good people.

Everything I've seen and heard shows that Ben is a great team leader and mentor. He was definitely proud of Camille and the rest of the team. Their team spirit and team work were starkly different from that of the Heard team. Ben and his team truly believed in Depp and were passionate in helping him clear his name. In contrast, Heard's team were disorganised and disjointed, almost going through the motions - there were no signs to indicate they believed passionately in her supposed innocence. They were paid to do a job, and did it. They didn't even do it that competently because their hearts were simply not in it. Depp's team were well organised and competent and did top notch work. Camille's cross examination helped to crack open the facade of a lying narcissist abuser, and the truth about Amber was exposed for the world to see. And Depp finally got justice.

the way ben spoke about all the female lawyers on his team was so lovely. it is interesting to see the way johnny's team were a reflection of his character. i don't think any of the lawyers on his team cared about the potential fame they might get from their involvement of this trial. they wanted johnny to get the justice he deserved and that was fulfilling enough. in tv and film male lawyers are often portrayed as having massive egos and it is nice seeing someone like ben chew representing the large percentage of lawyers who are not that way at all.

Yeah, I really wish he had included that answer. I understand that it doesn't have a ton of body language to analyze but it is such an important question and answer from a strong woman like Camille so I think it needs to be seen by as many people as possible.

Amber looked Pissed and I honestly think she grabbed her phone to cover up that she flinched a little as Amber entered the car. I think she knows Amber would never do something in front of cameras but I think the tension was very visible, and I think anyone would have flinched at any sudden movement in that tension.

Same thing for me, when I have difficult/emotional talks upcoming I will have at least a post it note with most important topics. And when going to the therapist as well, and when I was testifying to the police about some two people getting into the fight - to put all I remember on paper in quiet, and not get messed up or stuck due to stress or emotion.

This is a really good point! That makes me remember my favorite teacher from 6th grade, my gym teacher. I'd often forget my gym clothes and one day she said she was disappointed and I had to try so hard not to break down crying.

I don't know if this is a cultural thing or not, but disappointing someone is also way worse than making them angry - after all, if you disappoint someone it means they had higher hopes for you or put you to a much higher standard and you broke that to such a degree that it doesn't even evoke anger, but simply disappointment. The blow you gave by letting them down is so severe, that there is no energy to spare on anger.

My impression was she was waiting for the volcano to blow and hoping to stay out of the blast range.

The love for their client was palpable. Conversely- Amber’s bunch looked like they didn’t expect to win... no shock at the verdict; no comforting. I don’t doubt they all remembered that she threw them under the bus over evidence not brought. I’d warrant they’ve felt the sharp edge of her tongue once or twice too, for she thinks that fire-alarm vocal tone is normal.

My friend is a lawyer and he once said the worst responsibility in his life is when he needs to defend innocent person. I think that Ben Chew moment at 26:49 when he said "his life is on the line" is the perfect representation for that. (I dont ask him whether that is true though. It is just my assumption hahah)

Most lawyers like to make statements that come off as though they're trying to convey "I am a great litigator, you all watching should consider hiring me" when they speak to media. It's really rare that a litigator has that much faith in their client's innocence and feels that much compassion about what they've been through to be emotional about it. Compare him to Elaine. Elaine seemed more pissed that she was made to look bad and was ridiculed online. Which I would agree with bc most of it had nothing to do with her performance as an attorney, but the criticism of her performance was valid and I doubt that anyone who watched it was actively blaming her for failing in the case because the heard team would change course so much, it was obvious that some client-lead decisions were really throwing a spanner in the works

I agree. Last year my ex... She is exactly like Heard. And watching this and seeing all the things that they both did and that I wasn't just "being dramatic". Basically this whole trial helps me feel validated that I was being abused by her and the judge I had when I went to get a restraining order was in the wrong for telling me she didn't believe that she could do what I accused her of. Shit .. she even refused to look at the 30 pages I submitted of evidence too.

You've hit this on the head for me. I was in a relationship like this but no one understood. It came to the point where I had to take medicine to be around her. I felt so bad for JD as I could absolutely relate.

Spot on there mate....we all, men and women, will inevitably have to, or already have had to deal with people with narcissistic tendencies, gaslighters and liar's.....it's why Amber is hated so much, she literally reminds everyone of the person they dealt with....man, she reminds me of 2 of my ex's....the mannerisms, the eye rolls, the denials....

I think also it may be because a lot of us can relate to some part of this case. I know friends that are very similar to both people. I have a very good friend like AH. With all the same issues.

Even though domestic violence and abuse is more commonly perpetrated against women and there's some really scary and disturbing murder statistics around that(I was one who barely escaped a murder-suicide scenario with my son!), men ARE also victims of domestic violence and abuse. And they're put in a bind because society says "Well how can a man feel powerless when you're obviously physically stronger?" Like implying that you're supposed to physically fight off the woman, in which case you're going to be seen as a "wife-beater", not to mention if you're not an a-hole, you don't have any taste for that violence. Damned if you fight back, damned if you don't...of course that feels powerless! I don't know you or the situation, but if YOU were the one who filed the RO-unless you're a psychopath- that says something to me. You should have been listened to. I approached this with an open mind. I was willing to be completely disilliousioned about Johnny Depp. I wanted to hear Amber Heard out, regardless of public opinion. Throw out any prejudices about them as celebrities and actors. This is important to me because I know, as a woman, how much the issue of domestic violence is treated dismissively. When I was brutally assaulted by someone who was completely out of control in that moment, and my life was saved by concerned neighbors intervening...after they'd called 911 and the police were on scene, I overheard one of the cops reporting "There's been a fight". And I snapped out of my shock and said "You call this a fight?" As I had blood dripping down my shirt from my split lip(and was later taken to the ER for my injuries) "That was NOT a fight, I was f-ing assaulted!" Dismissive towards women, why not dismissive towards men, too? When I was hearing Amber Heard out, I tried to relate, but I could not. She reminded me so much of my abuser! The manipulation, the gaslighting, her admitting to being physically violent and trying to minimize it and mocking her partner for being a "baby", as if he should take it "like a man". Really familar, and really gross and toxic. And her stories of violent abuse were just stories-I didn't relate to them at all, they just didn't add up in any realistic way. And it pissed me off that she was co-opting my experience like that! I am glad that you feel more heard now. I stand with anyone who has survived narcissistic (often violent and cruel) abuse. We need to shine a light on this.

I have totally been in a relationship with somebody like this! If I ask them if they thought they ever made mistakes they would say stuff like “of course they make mistakes I’m human like everyone else”… But they would still never admit to any mistakes 😅

I would guess that Ben Chew also has children and so empathizes with Johnny's absolute dedication to not harming his children. Depp said in one of the recordings, "She is trying to alienate me from my children." That is the type of thing that malignant narcissists do. It gave Amber Heard pleasure to try and destroy the kids' love for their dad. I think Ben Chew knew of Depp's terror at the harm he saw himself exposing them to. Hopefully Johnny forgives himself and both kids are okay now. Malignant narcissists are very capable of deceiving for a while.

When Johnny said it, he experienced once more, that false accusation, and I could truly feel the dagger that was twisted in hisheart. I could truly feel the shock, disappointment and deep saddens he felt, while saying that. Still in some sort of a disbelief, like "how did I even get here?" It didn't feel like acting, to me, and obviously to many others. His testimony was very different from Amber's story about the carpet, which was ridiculous and felt untrue and unreal...
