Several observations: 1) you’re 100% on your analysis of Elaine and Amber dynamic when verdict read - there’s no way that was the first thing said in that room; 2) take a look at the contrast between Rottenborn’s reaction to the verdict vs Elaine’s (very different); 3) I think fealty might be more accurate than fidelity; 4) Whitney does a quick glance to her left as they’re walking to the truck - she’s “asking” if Amber wants to be in the front seat and then redirects when amber moves towards the back seat; and 5) Whitney reaches for her phone (not casually like she’s done it a million times, this was intentional - look how assertive the gesture is), which makes sense because my guess is she’s going directly to social media to see reaction to the verdict and try to get ahead of the narrative; oh and 6) Whitney’s face displays all the signs of aggression and frustration/anger - Amber is sad, Whitney is angry…how’d I do?

I'm not so sure about Whitney grabbing her phone. I do the same thing before getting in the car if my phone is in my back pocket... They aren't exactly comfortable to sit on. And the assertiveness about the grab could be due to her wanting to get out of the line of cameras/Depp fans screaming asap. I'm very curious who was in the back seat and put their arm around heard when she got in the truck.

The sad part is that she really believes that. I was in a toxic relationship and know firsthand that narcissistic people like her never admit being perpertrators and never feel responsible for the pain they induce. You can bring mountains of evidence, the whole world to back the truth and they still will deny reality, gaslight everybody and play victim. You will see it in the future, her desperate tries to look like she has been wronged, mark my words.

To say “it made it into the UK trial” means absolutely nothing…. The UK has a huge problem with its cases that goes back century’s where they allow the judge to be the jury. When you have 1 person presiding a lot of times they can be biased, let’s say it’s an older man who found Amber attractive and Johnny Depp repulsive now whatever she says and does he’s going to believe which is exactly what happened. Here in the us That doesn’t fly you are judged by a jury of your peers and the fact that ALL of them believed Johnny says a lot

Something that I haven't heard anyone mention is Amber's deep need to protect her ego at all costs. I believe she would rather die than let her detractors get the satisfaction of seeing her cry or appear vulnerable in any way. I've seen this in her consistently, and it also explains why she got so heated when saying, "I've NEVER referred to myself as a victim!" She sees being a victim as weakness, and she's too proud to admit she might be weak in any way. It's common in people with personality disorders.

I agree with you too. In 1991 I was stabbed by my partner and back then women were just getting to have a voice . It used to be the same with SA victims they used to be blamed and torn apart by the defense team. Times have really changed and Amber has put a taken air out of the tires and setting things back to the old days. We know she lied over and over again. I came into this very neutral as I have never seen any of the pirate movies not a big fan of either. I heard about him abusing her in the news years ago. But if I had any opinion going in it would have been with her. But as I heard the evidence ,the fist thing that really put me off was the knife. No way would a person who is abused give her abuser a knife . NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS .! ALSO she inscribed it " Till death " that sounds more like a threat from her.

Has she, as a lawyer, gone on national TV and claimed amber had heaps of evidence that to prove she was abused? Where is it? Why didnt she show it in court if she was properly defending her client? She can only be blatently lying or completely incompetent. Either way her claims now make her look and sound like a complete fool...really bad for her reputation.

Some evidence is not admissible in court. The texts saying he cried when I told him he kicked you would not be admissible because it would be considered hearsay. That's why they redact everything than anybody else says in the text messages. That said, if it's not admissible in court, then how is it "heaps of evidence". It's not good evidence if it's hearsay.
@jlynec

She said in one interview that a lot of Amber's evidence was "suppressed" - apparently the same evidence that was shown during the case in the UK.
@e.sterling141
@e.sterling141 Жыл бұрын
It's such crap because the only evidence suppressed was evidence that doesn't hold up in the US court system. And the exact same thing happened to Johnny's side. The most substantial to me (which wasn't kept out because it was hearsay like ambers) was the Australian recording revealing that it WAS in fact Amber who cut off Johnny's fingertip. She's on the audio herself upset and saying she didn't mean to hurt him. And then the fact that their private Dr and nurse are having (what they thought was) a private conversation and are discussing that Amber is the problem and is clearly feeling guilty, says a lot. And the fact act that at no point are they asking Amber if she's OK or acting likes she's been injured and needs help at all. Which according to Amber's story was the case. (Busted lip, broken nose, black eye etc.) There's no way we wouldn't have heard that addressed on the recording. And the kicker about all of this to me is that Amber is the one who was secretly recording all of this. Pretty obvious she had forgot she even had it going.

I'm 5 days late and I imagine you won't see this but when I saw that last clip live after the verdict I had an immediate reaction to Whitney's little glance. I felt it. I've done that glance. It's the glance you do when you're frightened of someone's reaction. Whether she looked sad during verdict or not, I believe Whitney was anticipating rage from Amber. When you're subservient to someone close to you you're constantly monitoring their changing mood to appease them/not step on a landmine. Possibly projection on my part, but I saw myself in Whitney in that moment. She's not comforting her, she's not demonstrating compassion, she's not being tender - she's nervous/scared of her.

@deborahholmes8275
@deborahholmes8275 11 ай бұрын
@@bobbicatt I see in situations like this that the person who is the aggressor has people around them who are constantly trying to cover up the abuse by trying to handle the person, and knowing that they most likely will get bit. They are constantly making up stuff to smooth things over to limit the fallout. They are never in a state of calm. They are ducking and dodging and desperately trying to not make it blow up. My mother was exactly like Amber and perhaps Johnny's mother. I was the one who was the keeper of all things family. When one of my siblings did something that would set her off, I ran out ahead and tried to simmer down the attitude of my mother. I always got burned in every instance. But, I continued this until the day she died. And I was exhausted. I hated being the one who was the keeper of all things family. Each member dumped on me and my mother, who did not have a rational thought, fought all the way. And after the smoke cleared from that particular time, my siblings dumped on me. I was named the bitch of the family by all to my face. But I was in the cycle of most DV relationships. I was the strongest one. The job was passed to me because of this. And I played that role, getting depressed every passing year until I snapped and I had a full mental breakdown like Johnny Depp had. And to heal I had to examine myself and own the part I played. And I had to restructure myself into a role where I was not that person anymore. It cost me too much. And I also had to find a way to forgive when they were so unforgivable. And I made a way. They are still my siblings and she is still my mother. I do not have to like the way I was treated but in order to get past it I had to find a way to let it go. I forgave the situations. Not to say that it was OK to treat me like that because it was not. I had to forgive their way of thinking and move on. I can't change what happened but I can change how I react to it. And it doesn't own me anymore. I am a better person for having done the work to get myself in a safer place. And I am OK with that.

I personally know this, having dealt with an abusive female just like Amber, I was happy to see this exposed. I was a DV victim. Just because you’re a male or female doesn’t exclude you from being an abuser and also doesn’t mean you’re telling the truth. Ppl believe who’s telling the truth,nobody’s gender determines the truth. You have just saved me months if not years of therapy in the segment on Leon Festinger; sunk cost fallacy etc. Four years ago I finally escaped 20 years of abuse, narcissism and gaslighting. Embarrassment doesn’t begin to describe what I felt when I left but also overwhelmingly ‘I am free’. I’m in therapy to understand why I stayed so long. I have transcribed that whole section. Thank you so much. I find your posts fascinating.

I’ve been disgusted watching Amber Heard throughout this case. I have been through many counts of abuse through my life, mostly sexual and emotional trauma. My first abuse started when I was just 5 years old, when a female schoolmate claimed me as her “best friend punching bag” and would molest me, beat me, choke me, poison me, and isolate me from others. Her mother, who was also my Girl Scout Troop leader, would also touch me and look at me inappropriately, force me to shower with her daughters, threaten me, isolate me, and lock me in the basement. I was always blamed, and even witnesses to the abuse never helped me. This abuse lasted until sixth grade when this family moved away. We had no cell phones or digital stuff back then, so I had no proof other than my word and the cuts and bruises. My mother suspected nothing, and I was too ashamed and scared to tell her. I know my mom would have killed her if she had known what was happening back then. The actual trauma is nothing compared to never having someone stand up for me, protect me, or clear my name. Since then, I have come to terms with the abuse, but I have never recovered from the total lack of protection, and my voice never being taken into consideration. When I have watched this trial, all I can think is how privileged this woman was to be able to have a platform and technology to capture real proof of her alleged abuse, and she *wasted* it, and totally blew it off like it wasn’t important to her to capture. My abuse WAS every single day, and sometimes overnight. It WAS commonplace and expected. I NEVER stopped trying to get someone to help me at school, even as a introverted traumatized 5 year old. I NEVER stopped telling that horrible woman that I did nothing wrong and I wanted to go home to my mother. How an abuse survivor could be questioned about her abuse and talk about it so nonchalantly and flippantly is so beyond my comprehension. I don’t have to hear a single word of her testimony. I can clearly see by her act that she is faking it all. She behaves just like the little girl who used to beat me and laugh at my crying, who would deny ever touching me even though I was still red from her standing over me and slapping me for a full minute only moments prior. If I lost this case, it would be EXTREMELY hard to control my reaction. I would be ugly crying. I certainly wouldn’t be sitting in interviews telling the media “of course they believed him, I don’t blame them.” WTF. Seriously. This whole thing is gross. She uses a Me Too movement as a tool to gaslight the public for her own selfish publicity. How dare she use us “rando’s” like that. Pitiful and disgusting. Thank you Spidey for helping me understand why her behavior makes my skin crawl. Before, I couldn’t understand why I just couldn’t believe her. Now I have words for it. Thank you.

First: Amber. Does. Not. Represent. Women. It makes me sick that her team is pushing the narrative of “this ruling is a setback for all women.” If anything, it’s a “setback” for women who exploit the Me Too movement to make false abuse claims with the intent to ruin someone’s life. Second: These interviews only destroyed Elaine’s image to me. During the trial, I felt bad for her because I thought she was struggling to defend an indefensible case and was getting flack from Amber. Now that she’s done these appearances and doubled down on Amber’s narrative, I have no sympathy. She’s a terrible lawyer and a sore loser.

Second of all, Elaine seems to be concern by her lost, not Amber’s. She was taking notes for herself without worrying about the team. Actually, it was obvious they weren’t from the same firm. Furthermore, yeah, Whitney not consoling her sister on the way out, sitting in the seat in front and then reaching for her phone as soon as she's "hidden" as opposed to getting in and turning around to ask her sister if she wants to get food or go home and how she's feeling just says a lot. Elaine had the chance to move on after this embarrassment. Now her outright lying, insulting the judge, the jury and the public, she has lost all credibility and respect anyone had for her professionally or personally, destroying her own career. Camille's career success will now skyrocket as Elaine digs a grave for her own career and reputation. Even her claiming the UK trial was the same and proved Amber was truthful is an outright lie, and anyone with even basic legal knowledge knows this. The UK case was simply deciding whether The Sun had a reasonable right to take as a source someone in the marriage, and whether that source was truthful or not was irrelevant. This trial was specifically whether Amber herself was lying, which she was proven to be lying maliciously....very different legal question. The only evidence not allowed in this trial was what would have helped Depp, and Amber herself testified she did not have medical records because she didn't need medical care, making Elaine an outright liar, contradicting her own client's testimony.

I've given Brederhoft's performance in these 2 media interviews more thought because it bothered me that she took time to embrace Heard after the hearing was closed. This suggests to me that, at least at that moment, she understood why the jury delivered the the verdict they did (I refer to Chew's remark in another interview that Brederhoft is a competent lawyer) and understood that, in fact, their evidence was not persuasive, but she wasn't empathic toward Heard and consoling her client wasn't her first, instinctive reaction. Brederhoft was watching Depp's legal team first and, it seemed to me, decided to emulate them by embracing Heard. My intuitive feeling is that having to deal with a very public "hard loss" Brederhoft is more interested in saving her professional reputation. Brederhoft complains about the presence of television cameras in the court room, something that I understand is almost ubiquitous in America, the role of social media and the preponderance of Depp fans in the audience versus Heard supporters. None of this is relevant to the case or the jury's findings but can have a huge impact on Brederhoft's professional reputation and future career, which she is now desperate to save. This is why she is avoiding to answer Burleson's question and instead she deviates and distracts. The approach I see here seems to be the same one she applied in the court room : make unprovable allegations based on weak evidence and blame everyone but one's self. I'm not impressed. Reality is always more nuanced. It's also telling that she did not bring Rottenborn with her either interview. His performance in the court room was as rotten and Vasquez's was impressive. They're so bad that I wouldn't recommend either to my adversary, should I find myself involved in litigation.

If anything, Amber Heard and her lies is what may well be the setback. I only hope that this does not result in any survivor -- male or female -- not being believed because of the perpetrator of the violence trying to discount the experience of the survivor and lying and lying and lying. And for the love of god and all that is holy, please do not come here to argue with me. In that hugging-scene I observe a lot. At first Amber seems to get her direction to Mr. Rottenborn, she barely looks to Elaine. (I don't know if she had the feeling her headlawyer let her down). Then Amber gets distracted by Elaine and goes into this 'polite' hug. Maybe some words fell. Then Amber turned back to Rottenborn. I watched that scene a few times. My first thoughts are: 1. When I feel defeated, I will turn to the first available person I 'trust' or which I feel comfortable with. In this case it definetly wasn't Elaine. 2. In that hug, that seemed for me was just a polite show towards the audience 'Look how much I feel for my client'. BUT: Elaines face was not directed to Amber, it was face away. If I hug a friend, someone I like or someone I empathize to. My face goes in direction of the hugged one. For me it says either Elaine doesn't want to hug her client as a calming gesture or Elaine is forcing herself to hug a person, she doesn't like or does not empathize with. Look hat the hug between Rottenborn and AH. Total opposite. He goes in her direction, respectfully and sorry. He pets her back. Long enough to seem caring, not to long that it could look unprofessional. 3. Amber directly turns back to Mr. Rottenborn without looking at Elaine again. (In that scene) Amber turns her back to her headlawyer, hugs Rottenborn, an goes out. Understandable upset, Amber didn't wait for her team. 4. Ambers Team seemed like non-verbaly choose to who has to go first, after their client (which will be upset). In my opinion, that has to be the headlawyer and no one else. My first impression is, that Elaine is hiding behind a shield, because she thinks that there will be an argument. Elaine is a experienced an confident woman, I think she's awaiting more than a verbal attack. But that is just my speculation.

How about you start focusing your anger against "the movement which allowed AH to make her BS claims in the first place"? FEMINISM! There needs to be a second, third, fourth "women's movement" ... to make it clear that WOMEN ARE NOT A MONOLITH and that they have different hopes and dreams for their future and that FEMINISM ONLY SPEAKS FOR A TINY PART OF THEM! IMO feminism has ALWAYS been evil, because it turned the relationship between man and woman from a SYMBIOSIS into a COMPETITION! There have certainly been men who "didnt appreciate enough what their wives did for them", but you can fix that by educating them ... instead of starting an all-out WAR between the sexes.

The fact that she said that she's "sorry to all those women out there", I believe proves the AH didn't think that anyone would believe JD simply bc he's a man. Shouldn't her response been "to all those victims out there"? I wouldn't waste anymore of my reputation even trying to defend her.

No, because she was using the #metoo movement to prop herself up so relying on her gender to paint herself as a victim. Her target audience wasn't supporters of domestic abuse victims in general, it was the #alwaysbelievewomen crowd - mega feminists, misandrists, etc.

Did Elaine really think no one would watch both interviews and notice that she’s saying the exact same thing over and over again? Also, why be a lawyer if she doesn’t trust our court system or a jury? That makes her a horrible hypocritical lawyer.

Good point! Sadly, defense attorneys and district attorneys usually continue to side with their client long after the trial regardless of the outcome. It is pretty unusual for an attorney to walk back on defending their client and I have even seen this happen with district attorneys when there is DNA evidence proving the defendant to be innocent. Surely at the end of the day the attorneys know that their client is guilty but you probably won't catch them admitting it openly.

@@bethfrench9064 the therapist notes are the only medical records, she used them in the UK trial so she’s still trying to used them in this trial even though they are inadmissible because they are hearsay. She’s also tried to get in notes from an ENT but that’s hearsay too. You have to have the ENT testify and she could have had her nose broken from a fall, plastic surgery or any number things. My mum used to tell me I broke my nose as a baby jumping out of my crib. It was never fixed as far as I know and it’s never shown up in a x-ray (but I guess baby noses are pretty malleable maybe).
