For February's Budget Recap, I am doing something different.
Rather than just going over my February numbers, I show you every step I take to fill out my "Where Did My Money Go?" Worksheets.
That's right! My first STEP-BY-STEP video showing you the ENTIRE process of closing out my budget. If you are struggling with this step in my Budget By Paycheck® process, this video is a MUST!
What do you do with your budget after the month is over, and you’re ready to begin a new month? Most people don’t realize it, but your spending throughout the month gives you some incredibly helpful information.
One of the first steps to creating and sticking to a realistic budget is tracking your expenses. Your spending is the underlying foundation for creating a budget and ensuring that your budgets in the future are successful.
If you are not aware of where your money is going, you can’t make the best decisions for your dollars. Today, I am going to show you how to extract all of the vital information from your expense trackers using the "Where Did My Money Go?" Worksheets.

I miss your KZfaq videos that are frequently shared, like the old days when you first started the journey. They helped me so much more than random videos when you post. What I am trying to say is I miss seeing your videos on KZfaq.

I devide my food budget by the weeks of the month and have an envelope for each week. So I avoid overspending my food budget and having enough left until the end of the month.

Wise. I do the same thing but break it further to one envelope for essentials and the rest for regular groceries because I know there a few things (essential) that I obsolutely can not do without. I has worked very well for me.

Miko, thank you. I can never have this shown too many times; I have my expense trackers up to date every morning over my tea; but I sometimes forget to add the occasional inflow (a small lottery win for example). I see now how important it is for accuracy, and will endeavour to track them and not mindlessly spend the $10 or $15 dollars. So helpful always.

I also do a first to last day of the month tracking period. Although I really love the beginning and creating my budget, closing out my month is so fun for me. I think because it’s a little challenging to get everything balanced sometimes. I don’t usually track daily but I always plan to. I’ll catch up today and try to do it every day for the rest of the month.

Hey Miko Love the recaps. I love when you show the step by step. I closed out my budgets for January and February, but didn't complete the WDMMG worksheets, until now. I did with your video showing the step by step and it always feels EASIER doing it with your video on. LOL Thanks for doing a new one of these 'live' recaps. I loved them on IG before. 💙💜💙

Thank you very very much. Just yesterday I sat there and asked myself, if I am filling in the pages in the right way. This video helped me very much. Could you do another video, where you explain how to fill in the pages: Debt Payment Plan and the Monthly Network Tracker? I'm m a single mum from Munich, Germany. My son is six. When I became a single mum over 3 years ago, your videos helped me essentially to learn how to create my budget and track it. Although I am still learning, I am getting better every month. I was able to pay off €16,000 in debt. Only €3,000 are left. You helped me more than you can ever imagine. Being a single mum yourself a couple of years ago, you helped me to believe in myself to be able to do this and get rid of my debt. All my best wishes to you and your family. 💜

Okay, here's a question: Today my husband and I decided to take some money out of our savings account (only a measly 1% interest rate) and move it into a 5% CD for 6 months. I have in the past only been tracking MY spending (cash, checking and credit cards - we are completely debt free so I charge things and pay them off each month). My net worth page is combined for my husband and me for retirement/tracking purposes. I was not tracking savings or savings interest outside of my single sinking funds savings account. How do I show this? I started an expense tracker for savings, but now September shows this giant $100K+ inflow which technically isn't money coming in... Then I showed a $25K deduction for my CD and tracked it on the debt/investment page. Should I have done this? Or since I wasn't tracking it anyway, should I just make the adjustments on my net worth page (less savings, more CDs)?

Can you help me to see why I need to track daily if I stay within my envelope amounts? Say I have $200 for food for my tracking period and at the end of the tracking period I have $50 left. I know I spent $150. Does it matter that I know where and when I spent the $150? I love your method and it's changed my life and my marriage but I struggle with the tracking daily because my mind tells me things like this! Can you help me change my ways!!!?

Why? 🤔
