I just read my post. Didn't try to sound like I was putting your trailer down. It's just that I do a lot of boat trailers for people that are hard to load on. I'm glad that you found one for free.

Add a little strip of red reflective DOT tape about the middle of your guide poles. It sure makes it easy to see at night when backing up. God Bless

Your not alone, most of us can't or wont spend a ton stuff. There are great deals out there.

One thing that really needs to be done to help out more than anything else is to flip the axle on the springs. Take the U bolts loose and put the axle on the top side of the springs. You will get the boat closer to the ground. That one is tremendously hi off the ground. Another thing people have been having me do is replace the carpet bunks on bigger boat trailers with vinal fence post , I rip them in half on the table saw and cover the 2x4 or 2x6 , the boats will slip over the vinal like rollers. On Jon boats I use vinal gutter material over wood or metal. The boat loads and unloads much easier. They don't have that sick if you can't get them in deep enough water.

Nice little trailer. You did exactly what needed to be done and now you just need the rubber v-stop for the front of the boat. I'm not sure how far you plan on towing that boat or what the speeds are in your area, but most trailer tires are only good for 65 mph max. I replaced the tires on my new boat trailer with small car tires rated for 90 mph. I'll never tow it that fast since the interstate speed limit is 80 mph and I plan on going no faster than 75, but It'll be nice to have the extra cushion. Plus they were only $40 per tire and will last for years. What will really be nice is how much shorter the drive to the Missouri River will be. It used to take 4 hours at 65 mph now it will take less than 3.5 hours. When I rewired my trailer I used some of the cheap plastic covered crimps, but I took the plastic covering off before crimping. After crimping the wires together I used a small butane "torch" style lighter to heat the crimp and apply solder for a solid connection. Basically the crimp was just there to hold the wired for soldering. Then I covered each connection in liquid electrical tape and once that started setting up I covered the connection in heat shrink. It's a lot of steps, but I got solid, waterproof connections.

Nothing like rewiring a trailer...Not on my list of things I like to do. Lol. Current upgrades look good. It’s ready for a nice day!

Amen, please pray join me I’m low budget and picked up a 12’ sea king aluminum for 200.00 but I’m in need of a trailer and yes, being patient is key. God blessed me with my 12’ boat . I’m 65, I store it upside down in the truck bed. It’s rough sometimes unloading loading it back into the truck. It’s good exercise but I can’t do any boat projects when I have to empty the boat out every time

Inspect and regrease those wheel bearings... how many times have you seen trailers on the side of the highway with either blown out rotted tires or seized bearings. Little time bombs waiting to go off...lol
