My name is David and with my dog Lefty we live full time in our ambulance conversion RV. I made this change to my life and you can too! Like, subscribe and comment - Lefty would appreciate it - he wants the adventures to keep coming!
The Campulance is a 2002 Ford E450 Marque Commando 164 Class III ambulance powered by the Ford 7.3l Powerstroke turbo diesel engine and a 4 speed 4R100 transmission. Lefty is a 65lb Staffordshire Terrier (best I can tell) that came from the Verona Street Animal Shelter in March 2014 at the age of 9 months. We have been living full time in the campulance since July 2019.

Yah those kids really chapped my ass. Gave them over $100 worth of gear, cookware and solar cell charger then they demanded that Dottie play secretary and call the church because even though they were able to charge their cellphone e after I gave them the charger, they had no minutes left on their phone because of playing online games. No plan and total sense of entitlement. Weird experience for sure however our hearts were in the right place so we felt we did the right thing even after learning they were total desert rat cons! 🤣🤣🤣

I would say unbelievable, but unfortunately it isn't. It's a shame that there are people out there who just want to mooch off of others. They ruin it for others who really are in need of help. It stops people from wanting to help because they're afraid of being taken for a ride. But, it shouldn't stop us from wanting to help and we commend you both for going out of your way to try and make life easier for them. Be proud that you are good people. Others appreciate it.

As a retired police officer, the world is full of crazy people and it is getting worse. I would be even more aware living the RV lifestyle because the real crazies' like to be away from it all as well. I know how you feel about firearms but I would never go anywhere I am not armed. I am armed even in my own house. After 38 years in law enforcement, people will be at their worse in their own home, around family and friends, and any area they consider their own. The lady you speak of claimed the area she was in and you were the trespasser! Stay safe and alert. PS; I am the retired cop from Watertown, ny with the converted ambulance. Still working on it but is functional. Love it.

People aren't "crazy" because they want to be alone just because you can't understand it. Being a cop you'd think you learned enough about human behavior on the job. Maybe you just never learned the simple act of compassion for others, you know, became hard-hearted from years on the job. 🤷 Also a former NYer and I think only COWARDS own guns. #sorrynotsorry

Good to know the 1st responders and ambulance were there in 10 minutes. That even beats a record for my little town! I spent many hours picking up dog droppings in different dog parks when I was traveling.. I was thrilled to find a park where I could let my dogs run and play, but it was just disgusting how people will not pick up after their dogs. I cleaned it up, trying to pay it forward for being able to have access to the park. Take care!

She could have thought of about 1000s different ways to be more tactful way regarding your dog walking path. For instance asking, "is your dog friendly?" This absence of tact would lead me to believe that she wasn't serious about resolving a possible issue, rather just interesting in making one. I think the way you handled it was spot on.

My old church was on a busy street that went to and from Indianapolis. Several times a week someone would stop at the church and ask the pastor for money for food or gasoline. He would give them a little money but it started to add up so he asked the church council for suggestions on how to deal with it. They all had a hard luck story but we felt the money was for drugs. What they came up with is that the minister would give them his card that a nearby gastation would honor for 10 gallons of gas to a nearby restaurant would honor for a free meal. We handed the cards out and none of them were ever used.

Lefty helping himself to the Milkbones had me rolling , dog's are so cool if they are raised properly you know the opposite of the young bums you ran into ( lack of proper parental upbringing ) , I have a t-shirt that says the more I'm around people the more I'd rather be with my dog. Thanks for the yarns David . Lefty and you keep an eye out for the nut cases there everywhere , I have a first cousin that is not wraped to tight and I could see her telling you to walk Lefty some where else , you can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't pick your family O well

Love the story telling, let 'er rip. People around here have a tendancy to build next to a farm that has been operating for 200 years and insist the farm shut down because of (you guessed it) the smell. Or they build next to a busy highway then demand the municipality put up a noise barrier. People are mental, and new people, they always bring a new kind of mental to the mix. Why didn't the guy snap the milk bones in half? Was his pooch too good to eat half-bones? Some dogs I tell ya....

I never help people like that because they don't even want to help themselves. It just makes it worse in the long run. They are usually immature and need to learn how to take care of themselves. Hi. I just found your site. I first want to say that I am so thankful to you for showing us what it looks like around a camp in the desert. The only thing I have noticed on several pages, is what happens at a campsite, or if they go do a hike at a known place away from their camp. Thank you for showing what the desert really looks like. I plan on making my way out that way this next winter and I've never seen the real desert. Okay, about the rude lady. Uhhh...the purpose of living in a van or any vehicle and camping away from the city and everyone else is to get away, because you don't like the surroundings, right? So if someone is bothering you when you move to a new camp, MOVE! She should never had said a word to you, except Hello. Nope. She was in the wrong, of course. I love that you and Lefty walk every morning. You make me feel safer when thinking about coming out there. Thank you.

In reference to the stories you shared about the couple who expected handouts, and the mini van woman telling you where to walk Lefty...I think they are teetering on being crazy, and full of their selves with a false sense of entitlement. OMG! Just remembered thoughts while watching. $40? for my wife? WHAT! Maybe she's been abducted? Felons on the run? Really nervous with some strangers. Ambulance responding was great! Support vehicles were most likely Supervisors. They can respond quicker in rough terrain with advance life support equip and direct ambulance route. Nice to know that service is available. Great video & conversation.

I enjoy hearing what's going on out there. I sold my homestead of 28 years because everything was going commercial around me and I got a very good offer. I found a small place in a rural community with about 500 population and a very old fixer upper on 1 acre of land that I could pay cash for and own outright. I'm living in my travel trailer while I work on the house. I am thankful except for some issues with neighbors. When you asked our opinion about the lady saying walk your dog someplace else I agree with you she had no right because she don't own that land. I do own my land and I do resent the neighbors coming in my yard as though it is their yard and letting their animals roam free to come in my yard. I wonder if they all think I am being unreasonable because I have asked them to stop. I was told no one has lived in the house I bought for over 30 years or longer, some people said they never knew of anyone living in the house I bought. It was built in 1939 and it surely needs a lot of work but it is mine and I can do the work. I think the neighbors should keep their animals and themselves in their own yard I keep my dog on a leash when I let him outside with me until I can put up a fence. I had a survey done with the perimeter staked and I will eventually put up a fence so hopefully then the neighbors chickens won't be over on my porch pooing and scratching all over my property. One neighbor's kids actually were using my back field as a four wheeler track! I plan to put a garden in that back field and I sure don't want their kids driving in my garden or the chickens scratching up what I plant.

@@TheCampulanceMan Thank you. My plan for this place is to use it as a stepping stone to later obtain more rural acreage farther north, perhaps Alabama because land and taxes in parts of Alabama are surprisingly affordable and I can get five to ten times the acreage, some with ramshackle but useable for what I paid for this place. I feel so lucky to have it all paid for. even though it needs complete rewire and plumbing at least the roof is solid and it has fairly good bones except for some termite damage. I wish my sweet old Labradors Zoie and Terra were still alive to enjoy it, they would have loved it in their younger years. They both went over the rainbow bridge last year, (2005-2021) I had raised both of them from pups and I am still missing them. I have Tango, he is 12 years old; he still gets around very well. I used to be his dog sitter but became fulltime caregiver in 2017 when they left him with me when they moved. He does seem to enjoy it here. He sleeps in the old house where he has a nice bed and lots of food, water, and treats.

I was looking for a new post from you, this by far is one of the best🔥Thank you for sharing. You are a very kind & ethical person. I agree with you. That is not ok to say to someone who has a leash on their dog. I could understand if Lefty was not on a leash, due to some owners do not have well trained and behaved dogs. However this is not the case. This information you shared was very informative and enlightening. Thank you again.

Hey! New to the channel. Love it! I'm out here with my dog, and NO I can't imagine asking anyone that. She was WAAAY OUT OF LINE But, what I realize is, I keep expecting people to think like me.. DUH Also, I'm a "drop the poop bag offender" lol Not intentionally, I always think I'm coming back the same way and will pick it up. But, after having to back track over 1/2 mile, I don't do it any more. BTW, I'm ASTOUNDED at the amount of people who let their dogs run loose and, of course, don't pick up after them at all.

Great video again, almost like I'm there with you walking Keira and Lefty together, then I look out side and see the 2 feet of snow. HA! HA! We have to always go with our gut. Humans are very unpredictable. Whether it be for good or bad. Its why most of us stick to small groups or alone. As for Lefty, he is an adorable ambassador to the bully breeds and can walk wherever he pleases. He seems very well mannered and trained appropriately. And you always have him leashed. Most ignore that important part of dog ownership. But some people see them as just the opposite of what they truly are, sqishy land hippos that bring joy to all lol. And people like that women are a growing breed of their own. Everyone is to conform to them. When I encounter these beasts, I simply smile and say, "have a nice day". Kinda leaves them guessing. Enjoyed the video. Thanks! xoxoxo to Lefty!

Around about the summer of 1995, when Lake Meade actually had water, our group of three adults, two adolescents and two yellow labs boated across the lake and landed on a beautiful remote beach. Several hours later, along comes a group of one adult and four adolescents. As they beached, the dogs went to greet them with smiles and wagging tails, which is atypical for labs. Two of the kids began kicking at the dogs, at which time the dogs, understandably, went on the defensive. The adult asked if we were going to tie them up! Our response was 'Oh, **** no. There are no leash laws around here!' The audacity! They left and we had a grand time.

There are strange people everywhere. I was living outside of town in a mobile home and my neighbor was on the town council. He was telling me about the lady up the road that moved from a wealthy area and set-up a horse farm. I had noticed it going into town and thought it was a pretty nice place. She shows-up at the town council meeting to complain about her neighbor's barn and she wants the council to order it torn down because it blocked her view of the mountains and was an eyesore to her and while she was there she demanded that the council put-up a large road sign leading to her place so that her wealthy friends coming to visit could easily find her place. Go figure.
