Your Shot
Vax, wrestling with the morality of working for his mysterious new patron, is given some advice from an old friend.

This physically hit home. I’ve watched the first campaign in its whole at least three times and even if they didn’t know at the time of writing this it was foreshadowed heavily. Plus, I don’t think Matt has it in his heart to kill a character completely if they don’t want it. Still super spot on though! I love this song.

I love that Percy often takes the Aaron Burr-y position in these songs. The two of them possess some similarities, for sure.

The musical did Burr dirty, they skipped light and elegantly over the fact that he was both an abolitionist, pro womens suffrage and pro immigration, he also created the first bank in America that made credit videly available for the middle class, and he did not cheat on his wife. The Spanish royal archieves even proves he was never a traitor.

@@erikrungemadsen2081 You're absolutely correct, but the musical was correct in history's portrayal of Burr. Unfortunately, in most US history classes, Burr is barely talked about besides his duel with Hamilton.

I like how some of these songs use actual lyrics Sam has sung as Inspiration on the show. The start of this one was one, for Vax, and in the first one, in Scanlan's introduction, there's a verse he did in a live show.

@@madsw7253 The scanlan line ("girls I haven't boned") from the first song is from the live show they did in the feywild (episode 61 I think) and this song ("just like your sister; young, brooding, hungry") is from the battle with the Sphinx, episode 49 I think.

Man, the first time I listened to this I straight-up started BAWLING at Keyleth's verse because i was so delighted by how well you all portrayed her (a hilarious way to figure out who my fave VM member is, I must admit). To say nothing of the REST of this! Gosh, everyone is utterly PERFECT. Both my dnd nerd side and my theater major side are utterly delighted by this whole project.

One of my few suggestions for improvements to this incredible labor of love: "In loco parentis" means "in the role of a parent." Hercules Mulligan says he has his friends in loco parentis to mean they're the closest thing he has to parents at the time. "I'm with y'all knuckleheads in loco parentis" would be a better line for Pike- she doesn't have Vox Machina in a parental role, _she_ plays the role of the parent for _them._

Makes sense, yeah. I will add, at least in my understanding, that Mulligan was older than the other 3 (I believe about 10ish years older than Hamilton) at the time, and I believe that the implication was that he was the one in the parental role, so I interpreted it the same with Pike, her being the one in the parental role for VM :)

One thing i would say: when vax does the monologue of "i imagine death so much it feels more like a memory" it would have been a lot cooler if he said "her" rather than "it", that way its referring to the raven queen
