Carla!!!! Come to the Chicago suburbs, you can buy yourself TWO houses with your preapproval. HOLY MOLY! I knew California was expensive, but house #1 blew me away, just like you said it's smaller than your current apt for $685k???? WOW!!! House #2 has much more charm - very pretty! Good luck. I look forward to see your house hunting journey. -Lety from Chicago

Absolutely house number 2. Much more bang for your buck. That first place didn't even have a closet for the principal bedroom. I know it's only you and Samson but the 2nd place actually felt like a house and didn't require you to hike up or down a hill to get to it. That would get old *very fast*, especially when you were carrying groceries.

You’ve been a great inspiration for me. I’m 72 years old so things don’t happen overnight. 2 weeks ago 1800gotjunk picked up my year long clear out - feels good to have empty space - I don’t drive or have people to help so that was my option. Now on my 7th week of Factor meal delivery - I’m eating way better and haven’t done DoorDash since November - cancelled yearly membership so by that and not ordering I can afford Factor meals. Thank you so much for all your help! You don’t know me but by being on KZfaq I feel support and Love. Hope you’re able to get a house with no stairs so Sampson and you can be more comfortable. Great job getting back with the work out! Pretty flowers! Take care. 🙏🏻🕉💙✝️❤️🕊🪷🐾🐾

I love your comment. Isn’t it such a relief to watch the 1-800 JUNK truck roll away with things that have felt like a burden? One of the things I had them take was a massive oak desk I just hated, way too big and no one sat at it, it just took up space. I felt for the 1-800JUNK employees having to move that monstrosity, I tipped them well and thanked them profusely. A year later I’m still grateful it’s gone and hope it has a new home where it’s used and appreciated, I was told they do re-home items when they aren’t in bad shape. Congratulations on the changes you’ve made, you must feel better on many levels.

I'm also in shock over the price, but for the opposite reason. I can't believe she can find livable houses in California that are under $1million. I'm in BC and teardowns in bad areas, with mold, asbestos or a history as a drug house go for $1.1million or more very quickly because a minimal lot is worth that much.

I liked the first house better. The bigger the house, the more cleaning and maintenance it requires. The first house would support you in your goal to live minimally and the stairs would keep you fit. 🙂 The first house also seems to be in a better shape/newer, but I could be mistaken. I am kinda sad that when you move, you will loose the beautiful trees in front of your bedroom window... That filtered green light that bathes your bedroom is so beautiful. 💖
@liisaking1247
@liisaking1247 6 ай бұрын
Samson apparently has problems with stairs, including the stairs at Carla's existing place, so house 1 would be quite problematic for him on that basis. There's only about 450 sq ft difference between the 2 places (so not a huge difference in actual maintenance) but the 2nd one shows like it was at least twice the size. Layout really does matter. And I'll take a well-maintained, but closer to original, space over a quickly reno'd one almost any day. Too many horror stories about contractors or house flippers who made things look really new and pretty, while cutting corners on safety or code requirements. I'd have a *lot* of questions about that first one and its history.

You can get a three drawer plastic storage container to probably go under your desk for papers/supplies. I have several. I like the Steralite ones. I don’t put the wheels on them, that way they fit under the desk top.

I love your new desk setup! I think the orientation is perfect for your room. Also, house number 2 is my fave!

Hi Carla. Im so inspires watching you. May I offer a suggestion for your migraines? If you would consider adding just a pinch! Of Celtic sea salt to your water you will be able to hydrate at the cellular level, which will help reduce inflammation. As for the house search , I am in the same process. I want you to go back and watch your video. Count the number of times you use the word "little" as a qualifier. Trust your instincts. I love you to have more room because you always want to buy you 2nd home, first. Because you cannot count on the market.❤❤❤

Consider looking out of state before you spend that kind of money on a house in California. In Rhode Island you could get a four bedroom two and a half bath two car garage brand new house on an acre of land for 600,000. I get it you wouldn't want to move to a cold state but even South Carolina you could get a palace for that price. Check it out before you buy.

The most important thing with me buying my own place, that I can say after living here 5 years: To be able to comfortably afford it, even with rates going up. It's much better to buy something smaller, or with a part that you can rent out, and/or that needs a bit of work, than having everything I wanted from day 1. The peace of mind I have living here, i never have to worry about finance, even now that I have quit my corporate job.

I love the music you use -- could you link to the song or say where you get your music for your videos?

Hi Carla, I have a monitor like that. I was able to buy a nice tray to set it in and compartmentalize the area. Then, it helps to keep pens and things organized. You can set the keyboard/mouse in there when not in use.
