I love Nigel. He has been there, done that and now he is with someone that cares for him, maintains his health and interacts with him and he is appreciative. Yes, he is still in stallion mode but we love him anyway. Please give him a great brushing-so much hair, a treat, a scratch and a hug.

Nigel isnt happy about the shedding because he probably eants to keep his hair. The coat acts as insulation against heat too.. not just cold. And he's old... he probably gets too cold at night.

I was so surprised to see all those video clips of you deshedding and trimming Nigel! That was alot of hard work!! Nigel doesn't know how fortunate he is to have you as a hair beautician and pedicurist! Im glad my cats don't roll in their litter box after l comb them! Nigel is one beautiful lucky dude to have you. I appreciate your hard work and how you care for your animals! You are so dedicated.

His coat is a testament to his ancestors . He is the quintessential tough pony. This is why he is such a great survivor . His coat is made for really tough conditions his ancestors had to endure. I hope you get him body clipped with less trouble than you have to endure yourself. Please keep us updated on his coat condition. He is such a cutie and a great little man. What a mini wooly mammoth! “Peanut butter and jealous” had me smiling 😀 I think a body clip is the most efficient way to manage this little one. Clippers are definitely a good investment in his case. Your time is valuable. Thanks for sharing the struggle. 😂💜

I think you could sell or donate his hair to a fiber arts venue (fiber weaving and knitting stores, Etsy, etc). Some Northwest Coast Indians have made traditional blankets out of their dogs’ hair much like Nigels. You could collect it all in a pillow case for when you have a good amount. The crafters will just tease and card out the dirt, just like a fleece. Nice job taking sweet care of this cutie. I chuckle at all your funny observations. I can relate to him; I’m 83. Love his man bun and braided chunky mane😊. Love his little prancing. Love your background music. Peanut butter and jealous? Hysterical episode.

CC already has 1 bag collected. I really hope she did keep this shedding as well. IMHO, I think instead of selling it, she should pay someone to knit her a blanket. Then when Nigel is gone, she can surround herself with his warmth and snuggle him as much as she wants. I know I would donate to that heartwarming cause 🥰❤️

A hundred years ago and more, horse hair was used to stuff upholstered furniture, and chopped and mixed into plaster to strengthen it as a base coat for lath and plaster walls. I've wondered how hard it was to collect all that horse hair, and now I know - it's a major spring crop for horse keepers!

One of my friends had a really cute gelding dapple Shetland pony named Dusty. Every year she let her summer camp kids de-shed and shave him as the first of summer projects. Pretty much took a whole day to do. As a testament to his temperament, he enjoyed the heck out of 6 little girls primping and pampering him all day. He was over 45 when he passed. He is still talked about fondly.

Oh, the irony: Nigel wants no special attention; just feed him, and leave him -- he doesn't even want you to see him eat. what a little adorable curmudgeon he is! Meanwhile, de-hairing that little pony takes as much time as five full-sized horses. You are so dedicated and he is a very lucky, grumpy old pony. He did look better and better, until the end, that is, when your multiple clippers failed you. You are a good soul, CC to persevere with what Nigel needs, not what he wants, while the rest of your animals (except Tiny) are trying to guilt-trip you into giving them Nigel's time. What a funny bunch of characters you manage :) They all make me laugh and smile.

I cannot help but post again how wonderful your videos would be for children in preschool and to elders in a care facility. Some things never lose their ability to fascinate. Your video production is excellent your mix of music is effective; it is slight enough to not dominate and yet lend to a very relaxing feel. A good tip when working with horses and canines as you said is to end a task with an element of agreement. Thank you once more C.C., watching your video’s straight on with no stopping is the highest compliment I can give. 👍

I’m right there with the animals on the shakey plate! My bed is an adjustable bed with massage motors in it and it’s my favorite place to be at home. I’ve become spoiled to this kind of bed and to sleep in a regular bed is almost unbearable! lol Nigel is one handsome little dude!

Oh, what a job Nigel is!! 😅 A previous comment said his coat was a testament to his ancestors and boy that is the truth. I can’t believe how long the individual hairs are! Also can’t believe it’s 75 degrees already in Montana!! (I live in Eastern Washington). Nigel is gorgeous once he has his summer coat! Can’t wait to see if you finish the clip. 👍❤

I just love watching your films - I LOVE little Nigel, his independent ways, and the mischief he applies to proceedings in order to maintain that independence. You have done such a wonderful job of de-hairing him for the Summer. He will appreciate it when he is not too hot later in the season. Since he dislikes hugs, please give him an extra handful of grass cuttings in his porridge from me. And give that gorgeous dog a hug and a pat from me. And Tiny.

I absolutely love watching you interact with Nigel❤. He’s an amazing spunky little man and he definitely lets you know when he’s had enough of your pampering, especially after his bath when he goes back to his pen and rolls around the dirt 😂😂. I’m sooo glad you rescued him and are giving him his best life in his old age♥️♥️.
