American Indian College Fund

Күн бұрын

The American Indian College Fund (the Fund) has released a new five-minute documentary video describing how the Fund improves the lives of American Indian college students attending tribal colleges and universities.
The Fund, along with its longtime Portland, Oregon-based advertising agency partner, Wieden+Kennedy, traveled to Indian country to record Native students telling their powerful stories. A team of professional cinematographers, photographers, and sound engineers toured tribal colleges and universities and attended graduation ceremonies. As the cameras rolled, students, elders, tribal college presidents, and community members described the miracles that cultural-based education through tribal colleges is producing for people of all ages.
Richard B. Williams, the Fund president and CEO, says "The American Indian College Fund video is a unique opportunity to see a very important part of Indian country. We are educating the mind and the spirit, and this it is captured in the video."
The Denver-based American Indian College Fund is the nation's largest provider of private scholarships for American Indian students, providing 5,000 scholarships annually for students seeking to better their lives and communities through education. For more information about the American Indian College Fund or to make a donation, visit www.collegefund.org.

Sometimes I wonder if these beautiful people are simply too good for this world. It is great to see them not give up and to fight, educate themselves and work to preserve their communities. Hopefully, native peoples around the world, who have a unique perspective, will help all of humanity come back to its senses and reject the ugly corporatism, consumerism, waste and selfishness. It would behoove us to respect them and to listen to their wisdom.

Yes, but there is more. The drug abuse and hopelessness is directly connected to the fact that folks there lack a sense of purpose. Purpose is the fruit of life. Our unique genius is the seed of that fruit and it is encased by what we care about the most. So education can shine a light on purpose but the sense of purpose is the driving factor.

@nialloneill5097
@nialloneill5097 3 жыл бұрын
@@tntruther And so the genius of education is when it coincides with our sense of purpose, and therefore there is a need to stimulate this through experiences that can awaken the spirit, for we were all spirit seeds once upon a time. And the earth and the university of life are meant to proffer us the right experiences, so as to develop and mature us, so we can recognise the laws of nature, which are at the same time the laws of the Great Spirit. Then, one day, we may return to our one true home in the blessed and happy hunting grounds of Paradise.
@timothyappleseed2986
@timothyappleseed2986 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, the synergy of applying our talents and interests to the things we care about is the seed of purpose and purpose is the fruit of life but the path to the tree of life is obscured by the masks we wear seeking validation and or approval from others. Purpose is the fruit of life and community is the soil that we plant our purpose in. The Garden is where we cultivate our trees together. In the Garden we GET to work. Outside the Garden we MUST. Heaven and hell are states of consciousness. The door between heaven and hell is marked contempt on one side and contentment on the other and hinges on swallowing our pride.
@nialloneill5097
@nialloneill5097 3 жыл бұрын
@@timothyappleseed2986 I see purpose as the main driving force for our intentions, as it comes from the depths of our spirits, which if we allow them to speak, constantly cry out in the longing for God, and a peaceful and beautiful world. Therefore upbuilding and beautifying ourselves and community is vital to its purpose, which leads to the fruits of our efforts, where these conditions should prevail upon the earth, until finally all of us can ascend to the place of our origin, Paradise, and eternal life, free from the worlds of rebirth and dissolution, which are part of nature's cycles and linked to the Will of the Creator, the Great Spirit. Thus, the earth and the immediate beyond, where we reside between lives, in the Wheel of Reincarnation, are the real gardens, where we sow our seeds of either good (that which coincides with the laws of creation), or not so good (that which is man's self-will and stand outside the laws of creation, or nature). If man does good, he reaps blessings, but if he takes other paths, then karmic storms must one day come his way, to awaken him again to what is good, for he has thereby become a poor steward of the garden of life, that sits around the Tree of Life, around which many branches exist that contain many planes of existence, all with different densities and different distances from the original Light Source, where stands the Temple of God... and the place from which pours out the Divine Will... into Creation, to sustain and renew us. Amen!

AJ, It is the attitudes like yours that keep this cycle going. Exuses, excuses and more excuses why you cannot do what ever it is. Quit acting like a victim. You vote in the people that keep socialism on the reservations, the democrats. The liberals are the enemy. As far as college goes, you have to be either rich or very poor to go to college. It gets way easier after the first year. I had no help from Indian scholarships and got a Masters, my lady has a bachelors. No none is holding you back, but yourself! Just quit whining and work hard! We can't even help our own overbreeders. Why have children if you live in poverty. I know people are addicted to sex. I bet a bunch of us would have rather been aborted then live in poverty. So keep bringing life into a dying evil war torn planet. Hope it all works out for you. People are in for a rude awakening when the system collapses and there is no more government assistance. Dependence on a failing system spells doom for most of us. Hope is only good when you accept reality. Major depression is already here, so don't get your hopes too high.

I have been listening and watching many native american videos; I am part Choctaw, but don't have the features. I am a retired military veteran and a combat veteran as well. I think if people experienced war, death and combat in other countries that we were trying to help and protect; if would bring about a different view of the United States. It was a big mistake to abandon the Afghan people; I am so worried about my interpreters and Afghan military men I worked with. Absolutely unacceptable for us to leave these people like this. I really have a lot of respect and admiration for women like Rose and Misty. They overcame their circumstances; they studied and worked hard to get ahead and excelled for their community. I don't see this in other reservation communities--I see a lot of them blaming their problems on the US government, and don't try to learn and achieve something on their own. I would like to know why the reservations are not getting funding for schools and programs to learn vocational skills. I am going to get in touch with Governor Kristi Noem's office and ask about this concerning the Pine Ridge reservation. A lot of bad things happened to the american indians, and a lot of bad things happened to the settlers. The current state of affairs with the US government and the native americans must change. It is very obscene to me to see illegal immigrants pour across our borders and be handed money, food, housing and medical attention; while letting our native americans languish and suffer in these kind of conditions. I would like to see how the ladies like Rose and Misty are doing now since 2007 when this video was made. God Bless you American Indian College Fund and God Bless the Native American people!! :-)

Aho. I was in a Native American College Fund comercial back in the late 90s early 2000 and I have been trying to find it. It was filmed in Fond Du Lac Indian reservation in Minnesota. Can anyone help me?
