This is a tabletop review of the KIMBER MICRO 9 EVO SP. In this video we will discuss the history, size and features of the firearm. In addition, we will demonstrate how to field strip and reassemble the gun for cleaning and inspection. Range performance will also be discussed along with different tested methods of carry and how comfortable it is to carry on a regular basis. Last, we will provide an overall opinion of how this firearm stacks up for concealed carry purposes. Thanks for watching!

Great video.I appreciate you. Great advice on advising to save up and how worth it it really is. Nothing over exaggerated.realistic .optimistic. And never got too down on it. Best handgun is the one on us consistently!

I've had this gun for about 3 years now. Have put about 2000 rounds through it without a single problem. So comfortable to carry. You don't even know it's there. I do recommend getting the 8 round magazine. Gives a much better grip when you're holding on to it.

Just got this pistol and I love it! The recoil is absorbed by the pistol to a degree that surprised me. Not snappy at all compared to my Glock 43. I give all my guns the lemon test. If I can't hit a lemon at 15 yards, consistently then I fall out of love with the gun. The Evo SP does not disappoint.

Enjoy your videos and critiques on various weapons. I own the Kimber EVO SP TLE as well as the Micro Nine KHX. I was surprised to learn recently that Kimber is doing a final production run on the EVO SP and that this model will be discontinued. The EVO SP had a short life span! I have the Mako as well and enjoy shooting it also.

Nice review sir. Thank you. My Kimber Evo SP Raptor went through 1000 rounds and I has not failed at the shooting range yet.

@ Conceal Cary Chanel : I have the same opinion with yours about metal frame guns and polymer guns. I am not very exciting with guns that made from plastic. :) even those I own a couple ones.

I have been carrying the Evo for about two years and it's the most comfortable pistol that I've ever carried. I was carrying a Colt Defender before as I really like the.45 round, but it just got too heavy, I carry crossdraw owb and with my shirttail out it disappears. It shoots very well, but what really sold me on it was the trigger. My daughter has the Kimber Micro Nine and I really don't like it, I don't like a pistol that you carry cocked and locked that doesn't have a grip safety

I owned a black slide/silver frame more basic version of this gun a few years ago and sold it to buy some new/latest/greatest plastic CCW option. Looking back I wish I wouldn’t have and am back in the market for a more premium option that actually has some craftsmanship to it. For me it’s like hunting rifles…I have browning XBolt’s and tikka T3x’s and they’re great, just like Glock 43’s and P365’s…but I also have Henry 30-30’s and that’s what these kimbers remind me of…there are cheaper options but the Henry’s are sure classy in the woods.

I rather like the Kimber pistols. They are very elegant and pleasing. Would like to own them If I could. For me I think they are the definitive Goldilocks size for cc. I am intrigued by the Mossberg MC1 as well because one variant has a cross bolt safety and never seen that on a Pistol before. Such that the safety seems to be where the trigger finger is and requiring far less memory muscle to interact with it expected a lot of noise to be made about that gun but as yet have seen no real mention of note as to its novel manual of arms.

The one all-metal 9mm near-identical in size to my Walther PPK and this seems even more difficult to field strip. Though that trigger pull in DAO is about as good as single-actions in the same class. This looks like one of those ideal platforms for 9mm loads specially-tailored for short barrels. It is advertised that, because the grip angle is the same, the 6-round magazines for the Micro 9 are compatible with this. Does this likewise apply for their 8-rounders? I also read somewhere that in the Micro 9 both the 7- and 8-round magazines can cause nosedive when fully-loaded (a known issue in any 9mm 1911 because the case has a slight taper) and I wonder if that got fixed for the EVO as it appears built from the ground up for 9mm while Micro 9s are derived from their .380 (a fully straight-walled cartridge) predecessors.

I struggle to understand why it’s harder to fumble with the hammer more over that fumble with a safety. It would seem to me that relying on the hammer has the advantage that you can see the state of the weapon as soon as you point it without having to be reminded of a forgotten safety when you pull the trigger. Ergonomically it maybe easier to manipulate the safety yet is that just not practice?
@bdawson6473

The hammer on these and many small models are smaller (shorter) than their full size brothers. Also the size and weight of the weapon makes manipulating the hammer...different. If you're going to carry a small 9mm hammer down, might it be just as easy to leave the chamber empty and rack the slide (Israeli Carry?)

The Glock and the EVO both offend my hip flange bone. The square shape and thickness don't work for me. I like thin single stack guns. A better fit for me.

So it looks like something in it, so it must be like something???? I pray for this country, but I also pray for the fire, wrong manufacturers that have to deal with people who don’t read instructions

Kimber discontinued the solo basically because the buyers and owners were morons and didn’t read the instructions that tells you exactly what weight bullet to use and you will have no problems ever with that Gun NONE

The Kimber Solo Sig P365 Genaro malfunctioned and people had a problem with that if you don’t like what the manufacturer suggest don’t buy the gun don’t knock the gun if you don’t know what you’re doing I’m not defending Kimber or any other manufacturer. I’m just telling you the truth if you used what they said to use, it would be no problem with a gun at all. People didn’t like the fact that they had a buy different or a specific weight bullet and that’s they are bad don’t knock manufacture, for no reason you’re not helping the cause you’re hurting the cause The Internet was a blessing and a curse, and I think Mark more of a cursed than a blessing.

Hurting the cause? By critiquing a gun maker? I do not understand that argument. If a company makes a substandard gun it is only right that we tell them in these forums. As for Kimber and their finicky guns, you are correct. We should not blame Kimber if we do not follow their guidelines. It is better to just avoid their over priced products. And people did. That is why the solo failed and is out of production. These weapons are made for self defene and should be adaptable to different situations. Is it is a night stand gun? Is it carried in the winter? The summer? Can my petite wife carry and shoot it reliably? If you have a good weapon that feeds all modern factory ammo reliably, the anwer is yes. Whenever a company limits you to certain bullet weights or tells you there is a 200 round break in period before the gun is reliable, they are selling you an inferior product. And in years past Kimber has had the audacity to charge double the price for guns that are half as reliable. Im supposed to remain silent because they are a gun company? They do not get a pass simply because they make guns.
