Real music cannot exist on TikTok. Real music is unapologetic and can't be cancelled because someone "feels" offended by it. Real music came from a time when there was such a thing as an album.

The Cure was one of my older daughters' favorites. She even dyed her hair black and wore it in long strings. I didn't care for them back in the 80's. She passed away in a car accident in 1987 at the age of 18, a senior in high school. I miss her and her music. I would just like to add, please be sure that you all buckle up. Not doing so cost me my big girls life.

In the 80s I was there, a rebellious teenager. I've never really liked New Wave bands and music. Today at 56 years old, after hearing this song on the radio, found it with Shazam, searched it on KZfaq, I find myself remembering my old years. I am here as many others do, looking for something, for a loved one, for love, for memories of the past, for regret, for joy and happiness. I hope you all find what you are looking for.

I was in college when this song came out. I remember dancing with my girlfriend countless times as we listened to it. We were young, in love and everything was possible. I eventually lost that girl as life sent us down different paths. Years later, I got the news that she passed away from cancer. Every time I hear this song, I go back to dancing with her with this song framing the moment. It's a perfect memory I hope to keep with me for the rest of my days. Peace.

Show me, show me, show me how you do that trick The one that makes me scream she said The one that makes me laugh she said Threw her arms around my neck Show me how you do it and I'll promise you I'll promise that I'll run away with you, I'll run away with you Spinning on that dizzy edge Kissed her face and kissed her head Dreamed of all the different ways, I had to make her glow Why are you so far away she said Why won't you ever know that I'm in love with you? That I'm in love with you? You, soft and only, you lost and lonely You, strange as angels Dancing in the deepest oceans Twisting in the water You're just like a dream You're just like a dream Daylight licked me into shape I must have been asleep for days And moving lips to breathe her name I opened up my eyes And found myself alone, alone, alone above a raging sea That stole the only girl I loved and drowned her deep inside of me You soft and only You lost and lonely You just like heaven =thanks 4 listening Xd

I remember standing outside of a restaurant downtown, balancing on the curb and waiting for some friends to arrive when this song started playing over the outdoor speakers. I started singing along (because how can you not?) and a stranger walked past me and started singing it with me. He was smiling wide and said "Isn't this the greatest song ever!?" and I was like, "YES. YES IT IS." Every time I hear it now, I think about that moment. Perfect music connecting us and bringing us happiness.

No it won't. It's too complex for today's ADHD crowd with the attention span of a goldfish. If it doesn't have the same 3 chords looping over and over while the singer sings the lyrics in a monotone (it's literally one note in most songs these days), then it won't be a hit.
@maxvermeij1779
@maxvermeij1779 2 жыл бұрын
@@NostalgiaforInfinity I think that's a bit unfair to some of the amazing artists that are finding success today. Even thought it's a different genre, someone like Kendrick Lamar has made one of the most instrumentally rich and complex albums of the past 30 years in To Pimp A Butterfly, filled with jazz chords and very technical delivery, and still found a ton of mainstream success. I understand people are always nostalgic for different times, but blinding yourself to all new music because of a preconceived notion that it's repetitive and dumb is just completely unfair

@@maxvermeij1779 Seeming complexity of music doesn't raise its worth. In musical terms Just Like Heaven is a pretty simple song and you can even hear all the instruments and parts they play if you really want to. But Nostalgia for Infinity said something different. He obviously didn't talk about overcomplicated and overproduced music but about mainstream and mummble rap. Check out the recent top songs and most viewed music videos and you will see that he's actually right about that. Now, I believe there are still some talented artists but they do go by unnoticed. One of the most talented songwriters of our time is Ron Sexsmith and no one know about him. So if this song was released today it's hard to say it would have been noticed. And it surely won't be among hits you hear on radio etc.

You, soft and only You, lost and lonely You, strange as angels Dancing in the deepest oceans Twisting in the water You're just like a dream You're just like a dream Daylight licked me into shape I must have been asleep for days And moving lips to breathe her name I opened up my eyes I find myself alone, alone Alone, above a raging sea That stole the only girl I loved And drowned her deep inside of me You, soft and only You, lost and lonely You, just like Heaven

Tell Chris Evans. He crashed into it with a steam roller today and continued to talk all over it right through, cutting it 30secs from the end. Oh well, perhaps a real DJ will do it some justice........where is John Peel when you need him.

LYRICS: "Show me, show me, show me how you do that trick The one that makes me scream", she said "The one that makes me laugh", she said And threw her arms around my neck Show me how you do it And I promise you, I promise that I'll run away with you I'll run away with you Spinning on that dizzy edge Kissed her face and kissed her head Dreamed of all the different ways I had to make her glow "Why are you so far away?", she said "Why won't you ever know that I'm in love with you That I'm in love with you?" You Soft and only You Lost and lonely You Strange as angels Dancing in the deepest oceans Twisting in the water You're just like a dream You're just like a dream Daylight licked me into shape I must've been asleep for days And moving lips to breathe her name I opened up my eyes And found myself alone, alone Alone above a raging sea That stole the only girl I loved And drowned her deep inside of me You Soft and lonely You Lost and lonely You Just like heaven

I’m so glad I’m not the only one who noticed that music in the carousel scene. I’ve tweeted about it and commented on YT elsewhere, not one person interested in pointing out that the show’s creators have phenomenal taste, should’ve just come right here, a comments section full of people who have the best taste!

I've been listening to it since it was released in 1987. There's no denying that the best songs are from the 70s, 80s and 90s. The question is, what will they be hearing 37 years from now? I'll be dead... Thankfully.

My mom passed away of cancer when I was 14 months old. I was always told how deep she was into the punk & new wave scene in the 80s. I listen to this song and I swear I can feel her sitting next to me. Its so strange to know that I'll meet her one day even though, through myself, I've known her all my life.

One of the things that I always appreciated abut The Cure is that their lyrics were legitimately poetry. Lots of imagery and metaphor and symbolism.
