It's sad that the Lorraine Motel became an infamous symbol of hate, for back in its time it was a symbol of racial tolerance and cooperation. A black owned motel, it was one of the only places where black and white musicians could congregate and socialize when they were in town recording at the nearby Stax Recording Studios (whose museum you should visit before leaving town). Otis Redding & Steve Cropper together wrote many of Otis's hit records while hanging out at the motel, including "Sittin' On The Dock of the Bay."

I am not a religious man, but I do honour and respect any person who has changed or is changing the world for the better regardless of if they are religious or not! More power to those who want to good and make our world a better place for all!

And I've said it before, but Adam, you are the best teacher I've ever had. I've learned so much from you, things I never would have researched otherwise. Thank you for your efforts!

It's a shame Jaclyn has not moved on from her long protest. Turning the motel into a museum and memorial I think is fitting and respectful, clearly she does not see it that way. It makes me sad she's out there all the time. Shame she does not have any family to take her in, maybe she does, but she just wants to just keep doing what she's doing.

Apparently the Memphis Police Department had been watching the hotel where Dr. King was staying, and then moments before he was shot they removed their officers from the scene. A person who was supposed to be watching Dr. King was told that he didn't have to be there from a official source and thus he didn't a witness thereafter. Dr.King should've had more protection around him! God Bless Dr.King and thank you for posting this video !

I loved today's vlog very much. I've always wanted to visit there. I was fortunate enough to visit the recently constructed MLK Memorial in D.C. which is another very powerful and moving experience. Great vlog Adam. Thank you.

Fascinating! I am a history buff so these types of vlogs always mean a lot to me. Thank you for once again doing it the right way. The "silent tour" through the museum was perfect.

I'm glad you brought this sad piece of history to your viewers today. I was 13 when Dr. King was slain, and I still get emotional every time I think about it. He accomplished so much during his short lifetime. Some people are born to be leaders and Dr. King was one of those people. His loss to the nation is so great that it can't be measured.

I've always wanted to go there. Great Video, Adam. I was fortunate enough to go to the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr National History Site in Atlanta Georgia last year. Visited his birth home, Ebenezer Baptist Church where he preached, and his final resting place with his wife, Coretta. Highly recommend for anyone who is interested in the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr & civil rights in general

Primarily consider the content of a person's character before anything else. A philosophy we should all follow.

I’m a Canadian and was a child when he was assassinated. Many years later in my 60s I took a bus tour to Memphis. We boarded the bus for what I thought was a tour of the record studios. Before I knew it we were at the Lorraine Motel. I got out and took pictures. The tears streamed down my face and I couldn’t stop. It was uncontrollable. I was embarrassed because I was the only one crying. It’s sad that we haven’t come very far since then.
