Tekton has become my go-to company for hand tools. I have ordered many things from them directly now and quality is always top notch. Shipping is incredibly fast as well. I recently ordered a 1/2" air hose reel and when I got it I realized I should have bought the 3/8" instead. When I reached out to Tekton to see what parts I needed to convert it (at my own expense) they said "send it back and we'll ship you a 3/8". They even sent me a pre-paid shipping label and only charged me $5 for the exchange. They also honored the 20% discount I had originally gotten on the 1/2" product and applied to the 3/8" product. I couldn't be more pleased with their customer service. Tekton will be getting my money for a long time.

I ordered them and two days before they were delivered the price dropped from 875 down to 750 and I called tekton and the guy that answered the phone added the 125 dollar difference to my account, and sent me the 7/32 wrench which wasn't available when I made the order. Here's a little tip to make reading the stamped markings on impact sockets much easier. Take some white (or light color) ENAMEL paint and thin it to a consistency where it flows. Then, slop it all over the stamped markings and immediately wipe off the excess with a rag. The white paint will flow into the markings and become permanent after it dries. Instant easy to read markings on your black sockets. It won't wear off like the laser etching does either.
@MikeBrown-ii3pt

@@ypop417 It sure does. Nail polish was my go to for stuff like this years ago. However, just like any other paint these days, it's sometimes hard to figure out how to thin it. Many times, acetone doesn't work as well as it used to because most of it is water based. That's why I usually stick to cheap, appliance paint now.

I have a few Tekton tools including the 3/8" and 1/4" combo socket set. As a former part-time employee of Sears that worked in their tool department during the early 70's and early 80's I can say that Tekton tools are equal or better than USA made Craftsman tools of that era. I would not have even known about Tekton if you hadn't done that piece on he company a while back... I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for really good quality tools at a reasonable price point.

Yes Tekton is one of the better tool companies today if you consider value, only being on average, slightly less quality than Snap On. There are other tools that come highly recommended, however, with Tekton it’s the entire tool line. I have a wide mix of brands but if I only had access to one brand of tools it would be Tekton. It’s also the brand I would recommend for younger folks just starting out because of value.

Love their tools but not completely happy with how chunky their wrenches are. Plus they use the same blank every other wrench making some sizes the same length as the next size up making some really thick on the box end making them not fit tight spots. Plus they put a heavy chamfered edge on the box end leaving very little tooth bitting the bolt head. Strong wrenches but have much room for improvement.

I’m also going all in with TekTon, but I’m a weekend hobby mechanic. I get what you mean by “Almost all” because TekTon’s largest impact sockets are 38MM / 1-1/2” As a example of where this is a issue, with one of my hobbies being boat mechanical work, I need 1-7/16” and 2-3/4” sockets for removing nuts on Mercury Marine Bravo propellers. Still, for the majority of my sockets, socket extensions, adapters, wrenches, and torque wrenches, I’m using TekTon and found the TexTon quality is all I need. TekTon’s prices are above auto chain store brands, private label brands, and above big box DIY quality, but the price point is well below Snap-On or Mac. TekTon’s largest issue, in my opinion, is lack of brand name recognition. I know about them but many professional mechanics and electricians I ask never heard of them. Neither do most hobby mechanics. They need more KZfaqr reviews, maybe sponsor a Nascar vehicle on a handful of races or, shoot, market themselves more. TekTon is the correct balance of quality and price for me.

When I first acquired hand tools as a grownup about 10 years ago, I randomly picked up Tekton socket sets at Meijer (think of a Walmart Supercenter, but only regional to the Great Lakes area) Which seems to be the only place they are sold at retail. Years later, I started doing auto work and needed more stuff. Initially, I tried to find more Craftsman items, since it was the only widely known "reputable" brand I knew but it just wasn't the same. Shopping regularly at Meijer I kept seeing them and liked the look and feel and ended up getting more. Assuming they were cheap over-seas stuff (which apparently they were at the time I first acquired them) I was hesitant, and then saw they were made by a local company and was all in. Glad others are also taking notice too.

Hey Bear, I would put the 24" 1/2" ratchet in that list. At $35 it is a great tool. I bought mine to do suspension work on my frame off Land Rover Ninety restoration. I thought this would be relegated to 24mm-32mm socket work but I find myself grabbing it to break all sorts of things loose. It also made me grab some 1/2" sockets down to 10mm. I know some people will say "that is why I have a breaker bar and a regular length 1/2" ratchet". Nope, this is a game changer! My idea for some lists, "Top 10 tools you might not already have, but should". Put this on that list. Most people here probably have a basic 3/8" and 1/4" socket set, standard sizes of combo wrenches, etc. Would be fun to learn about the tool you never thought you needed and some examples of where it will make your life easy.

I had to replace my Craftsman 25-150 ft/lb torque wrench about 10 months ago now. Somehow the twist handle disconnected from the internal spring and would no longer adjust. Bought a Tekton from Amazon, it's the 25-250ft/lb, not bad for what it is. Use it daily at work. The lock screw to hold the bottom to secure it in place for the torque setting, likes to loosen up while using it. Have to use a small screw driver to lock it down good. All in all, I'm impressed with it.

Tekton has a great opportunity to expand their selection and maybe dabble in some specialty stuff and really take off. From my 1 ratchet I can say that it feels like it's worth more than you pay.

I learned a lot about Tekton in this video, which gave me a new confidence in the tools I already purchased from them, and greater confidence in purchasing more tools from them.

As an automotive tech I use impact sockets about 90% of the time. Even with ratchets. I actually was browsing ratchets sockets considering a new purchase, when I got this notification. So I am going to be considering tekton. I would like to put them to the test in daily shop use.

Same. I rarely use my chrome sockets but glad they’re there when I need them.

The first tekton product I bought was the 1/4"dr sae and metric set. I absolutely love it and recommend it to anyone, but I'm just not sure how to feel about the ratchet. I'm not sure why, It could just be the fact that I don't like quick release ratchets.

i use 1/4 and 1/2 ratchets all the time and never touch the 3/8 because i already have all the 1/2 sockets i need for my impact and if the 1/4 can't do it i might as well grab what can without a doubt, and i dont have to rebuy all the sockets i have.

I have quite a few tekton stuff and will be adding more although after some research I decided to skip Tekton torque wrenches and get me some Torque wrenches from Teng Tools. Just a tad more expensive but worth it.

i have some of these, i have the crome 1/2 set i use at work with power tools and with out. i have no problem putting a 4ft pipe on the end of the breaker bar. i work on boiler and chillers so the bolts tend to steam gual on and i have broken studs off. i am looking at the 3/8 kit vs the 3/8 and 1/4 kit for my house.

Honestly for the home gamer these are the absolute best tools to go with. I can't recommend them for a guy who'd use them everyday because I currently don't but I'd venture to say most guys in this case would be happy with them. The only negative I see with Tekton is the fact that they don't have a lot of specialty tools, or even pseudo specialty tools like hose grip pliers or snap ring pliers. They used too apparently but they dropped them out of their lineup. I am sure they only want to have tools that sell the most, but by not having some of these offerings they are forcing people to buy other brands. Also, I think with say a product like their groove joint pliers are an old design and lots of people like myself prefer a more slim and easier to use design like similar offerings from Knipex. So if your'e listening Tekton, please modernize your lineup a bit and I think you could easily dominate the market.
