Before Sheryl Crow's own rise in popularity as a solo artist, she had another life in the shadows as a back up singer for many of the greats, including Michael Jackson.
Crow secured a dream gig, spending 18-months touring allover the world with Jackson in the 1980s but came away with mixed feelings, feelings she has rarely expressed publicly. So here is her very own account of when her life crossed with that of the 'King Of Pop'.

So sad 😞 Michael was one of the greatest entertainers of all times and above everyone, and he did give all the praise to God first. He truly seemed like a living human angel. Man she really started to change her tune about MJ in later interviews. There was a period when a lot of people were doggin' MJ and making fun of him, and she fell right in line with them. Kind of like a kid giving in to peer pressure. I have nothing but respect for people like his guitarist Jennifer Batten and musical director Greg Phillinganes who always spoke positively of MJ even when a lot of other people were unfairly talking greasy about him. I'll also add Stevie Wonder and Brooke Shields to that list of people who didn't betray MJ and were always supportive of him, even when he was deep into his legal troubles. I'll never forget how pissed Stevie got when Eminem took some cheap shots at MJ in his video for the song "Just Lose It." Stevie wasn't having any of it.

@@beselbic I will not be arguing. We might share different views. But Brooke having affair for 10years utilizing his spotlight for years and then not marrying him after repeated request breaking his heart, is not called a betray? He might have many relationships and most of the ladies utilised him for either money or limelight or fame but Brooke was one who literally broke his heart. Calling someone to speak at funeral doesn't mean she is not a betrayal. Brooke was famous and many famous person was invited to speak in his funeral. Yes but she did say he didn't learn their names for the first 8 or 9 months. And routine you speak of didn't become part of the show u till the American 2nd leg in 88. So technically she hasn't gotten anything wrong. He clearly remembered her name once they started doing thst in the show from 88 onwards. Amd i can honestly belive her too because there is video proof of him not knowing the nane of his female dancer Yoku in the 1993 orange shirt rehearsals of the dangerous tour. He openly asks everyone on stage "um, what's her name? The girl who dances with me"? And a few of them all at once say "That's Yuko.". And she had already been performing the way you make me feel along side him since rehearsals in April, and for the first couple of weeks of the tour. Before the song was taken out. But she also did for a few shows in December in Tokyo too. I can understand it. His mind is on so many other important things and he's dealing with so many professionals and suits on those tours.... his mind needs to be on his own art. There's no way he'd remember every ones name unless he had to use their names regularly. So it does make perfect sense. Although it sounds rude when we hear it. I'd be ad bit offended like Sheryl too, if my boss still didn't know my name after touring Japan and Australia with me. But it's understandable at the same time. There was no need for her to bring the up at all. She seems to not be able to control her mouth. The mind mouth filter is broken.

@Spooky Encounters What she meant was that he didn't socialize with any of the crew members and that's why he took so long to learn their names. I would say that she was a bit frustrated with him. Notice how she goes from describing how shy and withdrawn he was to the point of not knowing her name until several months in, to speaking about allegations as if she was in his inner circle. Which I doubt is totally true. Keeping initial distance due to being shy is more likely. 99% of people who speak any ill of Michael are people who only knew him from afar or in passing. Those who knew him intimately generally have nothing but great things to say. At most the only negative things hinted at by those who truly knew him was that the only true victim of Michael's was Michael himself. Which is often the case with all of us as human beings. We tend to harbor trauma which manifests itself in various ways. None of us are perfect. Don't judge a book by it's cover sums up Michael Jackson to a tee. There's a lot of context to unpack if you truly want to form a well rounded understanding of him. Nobody has ever achieved that level of fame before or since. He was became famous by or before the age of 10 and was performing from the age of 5. Combine that with him being a unique individual both in talent and personality. It's amazing in these so called progressive times where people are accepting of just about anything yet many still can't accept him. The main issue is people feel compelled to chime in and give their 2 cents about things that they actually don't know anything about.

Michael didnt need her, he could of had any lady billions would of tried out and would of loved and appreciated that opportunity. Why would she speak like that about him. Like he did something to that child , shes a two faced and once she got where she wanted to be she trashed his name. Are we seriously suggesting that Sheryl should refuse to acknowledge the possibility that sexual abuse may have taken place simply because Michael had helped further her career? Well, that's pretty ridiculous. Of course one's perspective on Michael is likely to evolve over the years as more and more detailed allegations have emerged. I find it somewhat disturbing that many of Michael's fans engage in a form of denial that is eerily similar to the position that the enablers in Michael's life likely would have taken as the alleged abuse took place. None of Michael's fans could possibly know with any degree of certainty what really happened or didn't happen, it's all just speculation that hinges on the myth of what Michael means to them. But the Michael we all knew is the Michael he wanted us to know, clearly. The same is true of any public figure. While that's not to say that an entertainer's persona is necessarily disingenuous, but it's certainly never the sum total of who they are. So to suggest that an entertainer couldn't possibly have committed sexual abuse simply because it doesn't align with the public persona that they created for themselves is absurd. An entertainer can make themselves out to be a saint (which ironically, is a persona that I do recall Michael trying on from time to time) - and they may in fact bring plenty of joy and happiness to many around the world - and yet they could be an entirely different person behind the scenes without us ever knowing about it. For any of us to think we know the real Michael is delusional at best. Personally, I don't know enough about the allegations to jump to any definitive conclusions one way or the other, but as we've seen with the recent "me too" movement, it's highly unlikely that so many people would come forward with the same sort of allegations about a particular celebrity if there is absolutely no truth behind any of it. Closing one's mind to the possibility that abuse may have taken place simply because it doesn't align with what we'd prefer to believe about the alleged abuser can and does perpetuate further abuse in many cases, and it does a great disservice to the alleged victims. I really think people should consider that before they jump to Michael's defense based on the love of his work or his presumed character, especially when none of us have spent enough actual one-on-one time with Michael to know much more about him than what he (or the many people on his payroll) wanted us to know. And frankly, if the abuse did take place and everyone in Michael's close circle refused to see the writing on the wall and as a result, did nothing to stop it...well, I certainly wouldn't consider that being loyal or supportive in any good sense - that is taking loyalty too far and is obviously more self-serving than anything else, as far as I'm concerned. It's basically saying that if someone is rich, in a position of power and has a lot of public support that it entitles them to play by a different set of rules and to live above the law. I don't care if you're Mother Theresa or Donald Trump or Michael Jackson - we all need to be held to the same standard. The fact that those in privileged positions so often abuse their power and never have to face any consequences for it is obviously a large problem in society. The only way it will change is if more victims of abuse are courageous enough to tell their story. Of course that doesn't mean we should necessarily believe everything an alleged victim says, but we should at least set aside our own bias and give them the benefit of the doubt, particularly when they're one of many and the alleged abuser is no longer alive and therefore any fallout they may have faced from the allegations had they still been alive is no longer relevant.

She did not get it and HE went to get her ass and walked holding her hand to the stage. He did thank his entire band. So, she can't say he did not know her name, the opposite is recorded. If there was something fishy why she didn't report it. I'll say that she was the fishy one was something fishy as when singing with him, she did not what to do with her microphone's cord and she starts moving her feet/legs everywhere; and when walking with him her shoe came off but MJ kept holding her hand. But this is good because we can see the kind of person she is, desperate for attention; opportunistic. She looks evil.

I will always love siedah garrett for her artistry but i really think sheryl crow was the better tour singer. Too much screaming and overdoing by Siedah. The duet "just can't stop loving you" at the Bad tour with Sheryl is just wow. Tough i must say im more into the music of Siedah. And i think she wrote one of the most beautiful song ever written. "Man in the mirror". But that doesn't change my opinion that Siedah tried to often to show off her voice and overdoing it. But what a shame that Sheryl changed side with the latest allegations. She is a bold-faced liar. There is video of him introducing his backup singers early on in the Bad Tour. As well as another video of her saying how great he is and how he was so good to them and getting to know them, completely contradicting herself. Also, there is an audio recording of a phone call between Michael and a friend during the Bad Tour when he was in Australia, so at the VERY beginning of the tour (the first leg of the tour was in Japan and Australia), so would have been November 1987 and he mentions her (Sheryl) by name as well as Jennifer, (the guitar player) and others. I mean he did say that outside of the performances and on stage for rehearsals, that he doesn't really associate with them.(Maybe there was a reason for that. Maybe something we don't know, like he could have had an intuition about her and the others in general, and if so he would have been right about Sheryl, because she only speaks kindly of Michael when it benefits her and she also speaks negatively of him when it benefits her. Still, to this day, even though he's been gone for almost 14 years.). But, the tour started in late September 1987, so this was like a month and a half into the tour!! So, she is a bold-faced liar!!! He knew her name well enough to mention her by FIRST NAME ONLY to a friend, but yet she says he didn't know her name for over 8-10 months!?! It's just absolutely infuriating the amount of people who he was incredibly kind to that just turned on him for their own selfish motives. I don't know how they can live with themselves.

Sheryl Crow is full of shit. First off, she stated for the first 8 months of the "Bad" tour, Michael didn't know any of the band members names; we know that's a lie, because several of them he had worked with prior & knew well, most notably Greg Phillinganes. Secondly, she stated Michael invited her to his hotel room to watch old movies in Asia, which would have been within the 1st month of the tour. Question...how do you request someone to join you in your hotel room & don't even know their name? 🤔 Furthermore, Sheryl stated in several interviews that Michael & her went to the amusement park together. Excuse me Sheryl, but those kinda sound like dates. I believe Sheryl, in retrospect, is a woman speaking from a frustration standpoint of NOT being able to build a stronger connection with Michael Jackson.
