Just bought a nex-6 for 180€ with the pancake lens hope it’s worth it

It's a very solid camera , the battery life I find very short but in general its a very good camera for travel . Good video .

I bought this camera and I am very happy with it. Good images, high features, compact size and light weight. The only thing I don't like about this camera is hot shoe. I have a Sony flash like many of Sony users and want to use it on Nex 6 as well. I can't think of any purpose to use the standard hot shoe for this type of casual use camera.

Question: With the wifi feature, is there a way to use something like a tablet/laptop as an off camera monitor and/or controller for this camera?

If I don't use the zoom... would it be a good idea to get the NEX 6 stock, without lens kit ... and get a zeiss 24mm 1.8 ... then a teleobjective later... Many thanks for your reviews

Me too, I've bought it just 2 weeks ago - though I am planning to buy a better lens or adapt one of my old lenses to fit it, as I am not too happy with this one!

And guess what, the first prime lens I bought was Nikkor 50mm / 1.8D + adapter and it's my most used lens until now (it's slightly more expensive than Canon, but better build quality). Even though it's Manual Focus, NEX 6 makes it easy to use with the Focus Peaking Level and I really enjoy it. And I heard they've developed a special adapter with "Speed Booster" for Canon lenses, which converts the result as if it's using a Full Frame sensor. But it's very expensive though.

It's funny that you mentioned that they probably didn't put a touchscreen because your face would activate it when using the EVF. Well, other companies(Canon, Panasonic) have prevented this by implementing a proximity sensor that turns off the touchscreen whence you want to use the viewfinder.

I just came across this video searching for the camera, because I just bought one second hand as a backup. (150€) I also own a 6000 so speed might be an issue. I like the way you presented it. I think you covered almost everything that I could think of is important.

Do you think that changing from Nikon D5100 to Sony Nex 6 is good idea?

I had the same dilemma last year, but I settled with NEX 6 mainly because of the size. I'm a beginner photographer and this is my first one. From what I read, image quality is on par with D7000 because it's using the exact same sensor. However, D7000 has 2 SD card slots, better battery life, optical viewfinder, and wide range of better quality lenses.

Do you have any external flash recommendations for this camera? I've yet to find one that works on it (six attempts).... I'm starting to think my hotshoe is defective....

I went into best buy tonight pricing a 70d from canon. Canon was priced at $1500.00. A salesman came up to me and said the sony nex 6 camera was as good if not better. If it is better why the pricey tag?

Waiting on NEX7xx supposedly this year. NEX6 - Mode Dial nice so is new hot-shoe. Menu system still sucks - why not the Menu from RX1/RX100?? so much nicer. Flash control not good, Olympus OMD5 has it right. Yes the 18-200 is great lens. So I am betting on this NEX7 update this year will be better then NEX6. So NEX9 2014 with Full frame and E-mount support but around $2500-$3000 ouch. So will make with my NEX5n and NEX7 for now - or is that not good logic?

USB CHARGER IS A BIG PLUS!! Sony took this feature out in most of their cameras to make you buy their external chargers or special charger cables since like 2004?

Overheating is the battery overheating. You can take the battery out and put it in a cooler or swap the battery with a spare.

I have noticed that IS on these tiny cameras is an issue, since it's such a small body. Some videos that I have seen have shaking to it. They should have put the IS inside the body and not the lens.

The only thing that would make this better is if it could record 8 megapixel video (4k video) at 60p.

What is the power zoom? How do you use it?

"no matter what glass you have sitting, you can use it with this camera". Not really true. Some smaller lenses of course will not mount, and some newer lenses with electronic aperture and focus control will be pretty useless on it.
