+Dashcam Stockholm Greetings from Poland! :) Great video and beautiful landscapes. I can say that driving in Poland is not that bad, we have built a lot of new roads and the "driving culture" has really improved. So no worries :) Last year I was driving in Lisbon and I was shocked ;) Almost no rules ;)

In many places on the west coast it is easier to travel around by boat, such as living on Vartdalsfjorden and boating up to Alesund, which is actually faster by boat because a lot of times you have to wait for the ferry at Festoya.

2:33 is actually legal. It's not a roundabout, there are no signs to indicate that it is and no road markings. Besides, cars often park on the other side making it impossible to drive there.

I really do prefer Norway's use of the yellow line like we have in Canada. I often find it hard to tell the direction of traffic when all lines are white :S Looks like you a great trip-it's on my bucket list :)
@DashcamStockholm
@DashcamStockholm 9 жыл бұрын
CptSchmidt The yellow lines do make it 100% clear at all times where you should be on the road so yeah, I agree, even though I've never encountered any problem around it driving in Sweden. Maybe that's just because I'm used to the white lines, but it's interesting to hear an outside perspective. Very beautiful roads and places, I can highly recommend it :)
@CptSchmidt
@CptSchmidt 9 жыл бұрын
thedll1 I just got back from the UK for three weeks, and they have all white lines too. I never had any problems there (and they drive on the left, so it's even more to worry about), but whenever I second guessed myself, I found all the white confusing. I asked my family how they tell the difference and they said they never get confused, so I guess it comes down to what you're used to and how you learned :)
@CC-lq6wp

They tryed to go white only some years ago, to save some money. Mutch noise and discusion (-Sp?). I like the yellow line, year around, but in the winter it`s realy good (- most road-marking masked by snow and ice, yellow stands out ). As a former ambulance-crew, -good "extra info", in a split-second. Makes roads a little bit safer IMO. ExEMTNor

Watching this i'm somewhat confused, most these things aren't even bad drivers, but mostly you complaining about narrow roads. What do you expect the meeting cars to do? take flight? Though the bad overtakes i can agree on, always have sight over what coems towards you when overtaking. And that parked camper in the middle of the road... looked like it had SD plates... which means they're from my town... but camper van drivers are idiots most the time anyway. :P

+VampyrMygg when you have narrow roads with what looks like reststops on the side, those roads are actualy one-way. whoever is between the two stops has the right a-away. so both he and the meeting drivers did wrong in this vid.

Nah, he's not. But *our* standards those are **bad** drivers. Some of those drivers could have landed in jail if caught doing what they did by the police. Mind you, Norway has what's probably the strictest road laws in Europe (if not the world). Expect to end up in jail for speeding, driving under the influence (even if you haven't had anything since last night) or in any other way misbehaving in the traffic. Norways goal is *zero* deaths in traffic, and they take that goal serious.
@M0N33R
@M0N33R 4 жыл бұрын
@@Luredreier, zero deaths from traffic accidents is an impossible dream for most countries, I know European traffic rules, and presume Scandinavian countries have the same. I think recording drivers clip lines on a highway is an exaggeration and waste of time as that's in "insignificant offense", most of the presented situations were manageable and accident risks could be easily mitigated.
@Luredreier
@Luredreier 4 жыл бұрын
@@M0N33R Norway is damned closed though. 3 traffic fatalities pr 100 000 vehicles in Norway vs 14.2 in the US for instance. It's the lowest of all the countries listed in that wiki article (at least one of those countries where above 1 000 road fatalities pr 100 000 vehicles). While accidents can't be entirely avoided accepting them as inevitable just isn't acceptable. There's *always* something that can be done. We can learn from the mistakes here, and you might think of them as "insignificant" but they're not to us. As for our laws... www.speedingeurope.com/norway/ www.speedingeurope.com/theburger/ You get a speed ticket if you drive more then 3 km/h above the speed limit, among other things... You need to stop for traffic from the right almost everywhere, even when you're on a main road and you're encountering a small road etc... I suggest that you read through those two sites and some of the links from those sites you'll find there. While *similar* to other European countries the country merits a detailed study of the laws and absolute *best* behavior at **all** times.

Alot of this is just normal in Norway. In Oslo, pedrestrians are the worst to follow light signals or even road signals, bikers are even worse. And all the campers in the mountains usually comming from countries with autobahn, so they piss themselves when a car comes their way so one just have to be patient. As a former semi trucker, people just can't stand remaining behind something, specially if it is bigger than its own car. And speed limits to some are just a guideline, because the time they usually fail to gather is more precious than security of others. Welcome to Norway søte bror.

I see one bad driver except for a few situations, yourself! Narrow roads, use your brakes... In a city, be aware that people will jaywalk (walk on red) and adapt your speed... The VW passat coming through the fog was not a problem whatsoever, he saw your lights and pulled back into his lane.

2:00 there are indeed many people making that mistake and then going over the curb back onto the road at this point; However I don't really see the point of driving all the way downtown when you can as well take a bus or train Tbh sometimes you simply need to lean back and chill, like at 7:30 even though he's on your side, he didn't endanger you and it's plain normal that it happens on hairpin turns on steep slopes. You even have to be flexible enough to switch from driving on the right to driving on the left when there are e.g. buses or trucks in oncoming traffic; See, after passing the car at minute 8 you don't get all the way over on your side either and it wasn't a problem, right?! On my 11.000 km roadtrip this summer I came across only 4 (!) bad drivers while driving through Norway. It was relaxing and nice to drive there

You were in Norway and didn't come to northern part? :) I didn't know there was that narrow roads anywhere still, but probably there are main roads that have replaced most of them. I still do not understand why so many drivers are driving just in the middle of the road over hills and blind corners, but there are a lot of those expecting all other traffic to either move very slowly or just move away when they appear. Even when there are marked lines some drivers just have to cut the corners even when there are no visibility ahead.
@DashcamStockholm
@DashcamStockholm 9 жыл бұрын
Bodø Dashcam I would love to go to the northern parts, Norway is a big country so we didn't have the time this trip. Hopefully some other time :) The roads around the Oslo area where very good (most of them where toll roads though), as you came closer to the coast the roads became more narrow and winding, which is understandable due to the mountains. Most roads where wide enough to meet another car, only in a few places we encountered roads with meeting places, and we didn't always drive on the main roads so that might be an explanation. Yeah, cutting over on the wrong side like that is so stupid and I encountered a lot of them for some reason.
@BodDashcam
@BodDashcam 9 жыл бұрын
thedll1 I can understand that :) It is terrible long drive from south to north, and especially when driving on the E6. The road is just terrible crowded during the summer months. The roads around Oslo is really good, and now that they decided to test 110-limits it has been a little bit easier to drive there too, as the traffic gets less compressed into queues. .. and toll roads are everywhere from north to south, and now that they can create toll stations just by having a couple of cameras and a radio transmitter for the autopass system and no people at the stations they gets places everywhere, like inside town streets, on- and off-ramps, etc. driving across the country is getting very expensive.

Bodø Dashcam Yeah I can imagine that the E6 is very crowded in the summer. No wonder you see so many Norwegian cars travelling on the E4 instead :) Oh so the 110-limit is new? I only saw one pretty short stretch of 110-limit road, the rest were 100. Especially on the motorways there were toll after toll after toll. Very expensive if you have to drive there often!

When I rode my motorcycle through Norway, it amazed me how low the speed limits are and how slow everyone travels. I got beeped when I overtook cars at 100km/h (cars doing 75km/h in the countryside). Goodness know what they thought when I shot past at 140km/h north of Oslo (O-Slow).

pilninggas Then where did you go? I've never met any problem with going abobe the speed limits, and if the speed limit is 70 most prople drive 10-20km/h above, at least where I drive
@illusionisten6314
@illusionisten6314 6 жыл бұрын
There's no problem going fast, as long as you know where the police usually hang out. I usually drive 150-200 km/hr on highways and 100-120 on countreyside roads (unless there are too many curves and I don't know the road). I feel as long as you have control and don't pose any danger to other people there's no problem going fast. Old people might get a little scared when you takeover in double speed though. A lot of the roads are not that great (tiny, curvy, shitty quality) due to the terrain and I'd guess that's the reason for the low speed limits.

You've never been in Russia. After the Russians roads in Norway you can drive blindfolded. I was in Norway on Land cruiser 200 with a caravan. It is 12 meters tougher. No problem )

All in all, not too shabby! I wanted to see how we Norwegians fared here on bad drivers, and coming from 2 hours of bad american drivers on youtube this seems pretty harmless. I've heard lots of swedes complain over our narrow roads, and for that I am sorry! :p

At 6:00 mins in the video ,the sheeps are crossing which I think is rare in Norway but if you drive in India you i am sure u will be fed up because in India most of the cattles especially the cows are set free on the roads and you can find them even on the highways......Anyways i think its peaceful in Noway!!!!

@@DashcamStockholm Äsch vet inte. Har alltid tyckt att läns gränser, kommun gränser och landsgränser har alltid varit så häftiga. Wonderful country, very good drivers. Got no problems, even on very narrow streets. A problem are only the camping mobiles and their drivers, who study the landscape, not the streets before them. If you want a lot of idiots on the streets, come to Germany and study the phenomenon.

Thanks for the video. I always wondered if it's allowed from our system (Norway / Sweden) to show the number from the car that they made a mistake? Because as i understood that we are not allowed to show the car number or a person to be recognized! in other way we can't do as USA/Russian do :) Hope i am wrong. Please let me know if someone has a good answer. Thanks

Well worth doing in a RV. There's some videos on here with people driving here in that kind of vehicles that I think you'll like. =) It's also a way of cutting costs. If you rent a RV in Finland or Sweden and then drive through Norway buying food in grocery stores and preparing it in the RV you can keep your expenses relatively low while also getting a good view of the country and a feel for the people. =)

They look mostly good drivers compared to the UK/Japan/China. UK drivers are ignorant to other people; Japanese drivers are incredibly aggressive towards other people; and China is a nice strong mix of both.

If I made a compilation of all of the worst driving, and all the worst roads, I see in a year it would probably be something like this (norwegian here). I'm frankly impressed of the amount of stuff you encountered in one trip; some of those stretches of road are just terrible. Like that bridge that only fits one car at a time in the middle of a curve for instance; there might have been a warning sign for that earlier that we didn't see in the video, but frankly there should be 10... and a guy communicating it by interpretive dance on the side of the road. Or better yet; build a proper freaking bridge instad of half of one. I guess that's Norwegian country roads for ya' -.-

I think we all got some bad drivers in the traffic, and as you pointed out yourself, you also made a mistake. Not all are familiar tho all road systems, and if you drive much, espescially long distance fom Bergen - Gotland in my case, you see much annoying stuff. Particually people who overtake when oncoming traffic is coming, is annoying...potantially deadly...and thats happens a lot in Norway. Sweeden i find people who dont use blinkers / indicators annoying, but thats probably they see my norwegian license plate.
