Acne is the thing causing despression, not accutane. Most people (especially teens) have a bad self esteem before starting the treatment and as the acne naturally gets worse during the first 1-3 months on accutane the risk of getting depressed increases as well. To anyone starting on accutane: Stick with it, follow your doctors advice, ignore the haters (true friends will always have your back), try your best to be in a positive state of mind and after 6 months just enjoy having a much better skin and confidence!

He clearly has makeup, I think I have the same type from what I've seen when he was at his worst, those cyst scars don't go away, the damage you get is similar to that of a deep knife cut.

Gilgamesh, you do realize that he got laser skin resurfacing to remove his acne scars, right? He even has a video of it on his youtube channel. You can barely see any of his acne scars anymore because of it.
@TheOwlGilga
@TheOwlGilga 6 жыл бұрын
Well then he lasered them then, my point was that those scars were not naturally gone. They do fade fairly well though but without any intervention the texture of the skin will always be scared.
@redninelowdog
@redninelowdog 6 жыл бұрын
True. If by "fade fairly well" you mean the redness goes away over time, then, yeah, probably. The dents the pimples leave, however, particularly the large ones, on a his face would still be fairly visible if not for the laser treatment that he got. All I'm suggesting is that he probably isn't wearing makeup because he doesn't need to; the laser skin resurfacing he got and the healthy diet that he's been keeping up already took care of the scars for him :)
@TheOwlGilga
@TheOwlGilga 6 жыл бұрын
The glow on his skin for me looks like makeup, remember this is a TV show, could be the intense lighting though. Scared tissue requires up to a year to fully recover and leaves tissue dependant on the damage, this is what people mean with scars "fading" well. The laser surgery is maybe what I am getting since my right cheek for some odd reason is way more scared than my left one, it looks like I am Prince Zuko from there.

I'm 71 now. I had cystic acne from age 16 to age 30 when after going thru every treatment, I was put on Acutane and I was cured but left facially scarred. Suicide was a constant thought. No dating, no prom, no friends. It completely destroyed the life I could have had. It's still hard to talk about but I'm so greatfu for videos like these. I was not alone. I'm so happy for this young good looking man as only one who suffered is.

One of my pet peeves is when people point out your acne and give you advice on "good skincare products". Most people with acne have tried millions of different products. For me, I have hormonal problems and acne is one of my signs that I have some issues with my hormones! When I do eat healthy and consume less dairy, it does clear up for a little bit, but it still flares up. Lots of people don't understand how mentally draining acne can have on someone. I'm glad this video was made not only to help people who might have acne because of their food, but also towards those oblivious to someone's insecurities of their acne.

Try to eliminate all forms of dairy , sugar, and bread. I did the whole 30 program and my acne cleared up. Once I started to eat “junk/processed “ food it came back. It takes baby steps but everything can be corrected with diet. It’s hard, if it was easy everyone would do it. Whole 30. Look into it people !

Anyways also I heard soy milk cause acne in some people so Idk if you drink that I drink soy and it doesn't cause acne on me but this is why I think acne is a lack of some vitamin

I did Accutane. The effects start to wear off after awhile, though there is a permanent reduction. The best thing I ever did to get rid of acne? Quit dairy. Dairy is full of estrogen. Acne is largely a hormonal issue. But even so, with completing a full course of Accutane and giving up dairy, I had some acne that persisted. I started supplementing with Magnesium and spraying Magnesium on my skin after showering. This cured the rest of it. I do intermittent fasting too.

Eliminating dairy, gluten and sugar cleared most of my acne. I do still get some hormonal acne around my period, but most of it is gone. Also, consuming turmeric and apple cider vinegar too helped with the acne. Before 'going natural', I took antibiotics for 2 years, which ruined my immune system and the acne just came back after I stopped. I wish I'd known about the diet aspect earlier!

@leopardprints
@leopardprints 7 жыл бұрын
The turmeric spice is fine. You can mix 1 tsp of turmeric, about 30 'turns' of black pepper- the pepper helps the turmeric to work and mix it with the non-dairy milk. It helps if you consume the turmeric with something with fat in it- such as the soy milk etc. Also, use it as a face mask. Just mix some turmeric with honey or water, make it into a paste and apply for about 30 minutes. Use a clean makeup brush to apply and always wear gloves because turmeric gets everywhere! Don't worry if it stains your face, because it will wash off in the morning shower. I would also recommend using a rosewater spray on your face- that helps to ease inflamed skin.

Acne means you have a gut issue. I dealt with this for 18 years and I'm 31 and finally have clear skin. Avoid pasteurized dairy and hard to digest wheat you will see wonders in your complexion. Makeup isn't even a necessity if you have a solid foundation. Your body if healthy will give you your skin tone, naturally. Topical stuff can work sometimes but your attitude and gut health determine how good your skin looks.

Sugar equals high glycemic index which = Insulin spike which = oxidation in the blood & blood vessels, where nutrients are supposed to be instead. No it won't "cause" acne in the same way that dairy probably will but your not helping your body deal or repair with inflammation, your in fact causing it. There is nothing good about it.

My dermatologist straight up told me sugar can make acne worse. Scientific journals have published studies to back this up. Sugar itself mostly likely doesn't cause acne though. (just like water doesn't cure it) So if your derm told u your acne is not caused by your diet, they probably assessed your skin and told you this from a place of experience and recommended a treatment that WILL improve YOUR specific type of acne. BUT it never hurts to reduce processed sugar in your diet to see if it helps. Good luck to u, I'm on a skin journey too :)

Glad you figured this out at a young age. I suffered with cystic acne until I was 45. I saw dozens of dermatologist across several states and tried everything except Acutane. I spent thousands on lasers, facials, light therapy, products, medications. Cutting dairy and sugar from my diet cleared my skin. I get an occasional zit but nothing cystic or frequent. Best wishes for continued healthy skin.

and that's why i hate most of what doctors say, they only sell you their stuff which in most cases isn't neccessary you spend so much time/money on that crap while the answer often is related to your diet which is cheaper,healthier and the better solution anyways. i'm glad that i can use google for everything, so many problems i had were just about lifestyle/diet instead of taking some drugs from doctors.

Aww poor dude. i totally know how you feel. i had bad acne in the early teens, i would cry bc i felt so hideous. my mom got me accutane (before they pretty much banned it) and it worked! it got worse before it got better though, and that was extremely hard to deal with. luckily, as an adult i dont have any acne. my skin stays pretty clear now, but i remember how NOTHING worked to clear it up. it was so discouraging, bc of this I'd pile on makeup to cover it. even to this day, i sometimes still wear a lot of makeup for someone who has clear skin (its not a ridiculous amount or anything). but i catch myself still doing things like that bc of being insecure about my skin for sooooo long. now, i finally have the confidence to leave my house without makeup, and im 100% fine with it. i wouldnt be caught dead outside without makeup when i had acne. i hope his skin stays clear! drinking copious amounts of water really helps.

For years whether I'd attend a party or a family get together would depend on how my skin looks. I never told anyone this. I hated it so much because I couldn't control my break outs. They controlled me. Sometimes I'd have clear skin which made me feel happy and confident. This happened because of what I called luck. I got sick and tired of depending on luck. I wanted to feel confident everyday. I noticed a change once I changed my diet. Don't waste your money on expensive facial cleansers! Find out what foods are causing breakouts and eliminate them. I stopped consuming sugar and it's making a difference. I still get a pimple every now and then which means there is something else I need to eliminate. I'm gonna try getting rid of dairy products. I love cheese and ice cream, that's going to be extremely hard!

Worst thing is, im good looking, I know girls like me but I don’t have the confidence to go out with them if my break outs are bad which is most of the time. My husband had acne on his face and back, painful acne like his. He also had terrible body odor. 34 yrs ago several doctors told him I was wrong it wasn’t diet related. He took medication after medication. The doctor finally suggested removing the sweat glands underneath his arms. Yup, surgery. I convinced him to try my diet suggestions for just 2 weeks. 2 weeks got him to one month and no acne or a small tiny one and none on his back. He still sweated a lot but not smelly with a combination of diet and 91% alcohol to clean the bacteria in his armpits and diet. After that no medicines, no surgery, if it started to reappear he looked at his food/drink and adjusted it. This has lasted for 33 yrs now. I think if I was suggesting it today, I would advocate of green smoothies to allow the difference to happen quicker. The relief from the pain and infections are tremendous. You see it in your skin, hair and healing.

I'm a huge fan of Brian, and his videos were honestly the catalyst to talk to my doctor about my own acne. But I call slight shenanigans with this interview. Anybody that's followed him knows that he was on accutane for over a year (much longer than a normal course of accutane), which greatly improved his acne. Then he started a vegan diet, which he attributes to his clear complexion. But I think it's probably 80% accutane and 20% vegan diet that cleared his skin. The doctors also praise how smooth his skin looks.... But if you've watched his videos, you've seen him have laser skin treatments. A vegan diet didn't erase acne scars. Laser skin treatments did. So while I love his videos, this interview is fairly misleading. You won't look like that by just eating vegetables.

So glad he found the culprit!👍🏾 Reminds me of a beautiful woman that worked at my job who started getting really bad acne like this and it broke my heart to see the change. I know she had to have felt self conscious about it but she didnt let it show. I wanted to ask her what she was eating but we werent close enough for that. A couple of years later her skin was totally clear and she later revealed to the staff that it was her bodys reaction to tofu and soy products she’d started eating once she became vegetarian. Once she realized the connection and stopped eating those products her skin once again returned to its clear and radiant state. 😃

Wow, I have significantly less acne compared to this guy but I used to be so insecure and sad. Seeing this video made me realise that we should always be thankful to God about the fact that we have all of our organs and body parts in working condition. Kudos to you for overcoming your struggles. I'm gonna have a strict diet myself and avoid dairy and meat products as much as possible.

It is still possible to clear it up. Just because something runs in your family doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll get it. Dairy, sugar and processed foods turn on the genes that make you ceceptable to diseases and inflammation but if you cut out those things and eat real whole foods it turns off inflammation in the body.

Girly No My grandfather and mother had very bad acne. I had AWFUL acne when I was 11/12, but it really started clearing up at 13, and at 14 I barely had any breakouts, and since 15 my skin has been incredibly clear. I cut out dairy, became a pescatarian, stopped eating candies and chips, and used a simple skin care routine (scrub exfoliant, acne cleanser, an oily skin balancer, and an acne fighting moisturizer. I used to use a lot more products like serums and shit, but using too many products really made me break out, and having it being simple made a huge difference in my skin.) It can be genetic, but you can still find a solid skincare routine and eat healthier to improve your skin. I haven’t had any acne in a long time, besides the occasional pimple that lasts a day at most, while having the genetic predisposition to acne prone skin.

I was in the same boat. Cystic acne from 12/13yrs-19yrs, accutane didn’t help... two years ago I tried the Keto diet, ended up basically only eating meat. Here I am two years later, perfectly clear skin all over my body, scars reducing, and for the first time I’m not wearing any makeup. Diet is so important!!

I have suffered from severe cystic acne for 17 years and went on two cycles of accutane. It was a devastating time of my life...now I want to help sufferers. I believe that most people don't connect nutrition and skin health. Your biggest organ is trying to tell you that something is wrong. I did a food allergy ELISA test and stayed away from alcohol. No more harsh chemicals except Glycolic acid cleanser like, and diy pure witch hazel and tea tree oil spray toner. God bless you all and I hope you find healing very soon.

I'll make it real simple for everyone out there. You are what you eat. Substances you intake affect your genetic expression. While you may have acne now, if you put in the work like he did, you will find the cause and will overcome it. Accutane is not the solution, not the only one, and it comes with its risks. I experienced psychosis when I took my first dose (50mg) alongside 10+ physical side effects that would render me unable to function or move for over 24 hours. BUT HEY here's what works for me : sulforaphane + oleuropein. Currently also testing panthothenic acid doses with boswellia serrata and meriva turmeric. I ate half an entire broccoli a day for a week and my skin has been clearer than it has been for the last ten years. Don't give up people. Love y'all.

I went through similar acne from 15-19 and it was really bad during that period, systic acne on cheeks and chin and forehead. But have suffered mild acne from 14 to even now 42. I wish I took roaccutane back then rather then put it up with it until now. Now I have very mild scars and get a spot now and then but when it does pop up on my face it lingers for months and causes pigmentation even now. So I will now take roaccutane once and for good when my dermatologist appointment comes up soon.
