I'll never forget taking Simorgh to my locals and getting the anti-spell dark simorgh lock on only for the opponent to top deck evenly matched felt like Kaiba after seeing exodia lmao

I was interested in the name and lore behind the card so I googled it. The Simurgh is a gigantic Persian(modern day Iran) mythological bird with the body of a peacock, the face of a dog(or man), and the claws of a lion, so old that it saw the destruction of the world three times over. It rustled the branches on a divine plant and sprinkled the seeds that became every plant to exist when the world was nothing more than a sea. According to wikipedia at least. There's also an east Slavic god, Simargl, that may be based on the Perisan one. Very interesting lore.

Ah yes Simorgh, the first set of cards that introduced me to pile decks and synergy decks like Bird Up, Earth Machines, Tri-Brigade and Aramancipators

I mean Master Duel has Simorgh, Bird of Sovereignty unlimited, but the barrier statue is banned and the deck is kind of underpowered in the face of a deck like Snake-Eyes of going 2nd. Simorgh is still a cool idea of an archetype that’s kind of a precursor to Floo, but without the banishing resource effects. Once Simorgh, Bird of Sovereignty and its interactions with Tri-Brigade made it be easily abused with performing big lockdowns, its banning then made the archetype get their wings clipped. Missing the activation timing doesn’t help either. Interesting video for Failed Cards.

My favourite archetype, i play nothing else since 2020. My idea for making them better would be to print a Link 1 and 2 that could activate effects whenever a Winged Beast monster is offered as a tribute to activate a Winged Beast monster effect, or Tributed for the Tribute Summon of a Winged Beast monster. 1 and 2 would loop around from graveyard to field so they would maintain field presence.

I feel like Simorgh is one VERY SPECIFIC FOR THEM archetype support set away from doing anything for the meta, but until it happens it's safe and it'll live as splashable in all other Winged-Beast monsters. And Tri-Brigade.

Just finished a harpie edison deck with Dark Simorgh, and some gravekeepers to cover the dark atribute. It was not so cheap... but it's fun and surprising good.

Simorgh Bird of Divinity was (and still is) my favorite card. I haven't really played Yu-Gi-Oh in years so I didn't know it had its own archetype. Kinda sucks my main bird is bad in the game but I still love it.

I give the Simorgh engine a lot of credit for my Floo deck being so successful in MD; especially Bringing, Perfection and the field spell Elborz

When this archetype was coming out, I was expecting Konami to eventually come out new Sphinx support as well, since a lot of those cards were introduced in the rock structure deck that came out around the same time as the wind structure deck that introduced Simorgh.

I played a harpie simorgh deck for awhile in Edison. Worked quite well with Solidarity

First Gusto and Daigusto Emeral, then Predaplants and Verte Anaconda, and recently SImorgh and Sovereignty. Legit my three favorite decks ended up having their support abused by others, and hurting my decks in the process 😭😭😭. (I would jump in and out of the game, so I would be late to some of these bans whenever I would come back.)

it feels like Bird of Sov would be easily fixed by making it only be summonable with 2+ Simorgh monsters. That way it can't be splashed into other archetypes.

Damn, woke up remembering about Simorghs, tought about building a deck, because they are cool, and this video pop up, lol

TBH, Simorgh is the only "winged beast" archetype that doesn't has a clear strategy on their play. Are they tribute summon type, special summon type, a "floodgate" type, a "your turn is my turn" type, a burn and share battle damage type?. This deck has up to 3 or 5 cards that has strong effect and didn't see play in their own deck. Elborz, Perfection, and Dark Simorgh seen played in Floowandreze in master duel since the deck got heavily hit in there. Sovereignty often seen played in Lyrilusc and rarely not even played in tri-brigade like you said, ofc in master duel though.

You forgot to add Simorg, Bird of Protection. It bounces a backrow to the opponent's hand. The deck failed because the banlist took away its best card.

Make unique continuous spell or field spell that makes the birds effects “if” clauses that does something else and add new monsters that aren’t as restrictive

I think the biggest issue, especially with Link monsters imo, is how generic they are. They should've been more archetypal. Yes, this hurts a LOT of decks that rely heavily on a generic link package. However, it's because of these generics that we have so many banned link monsters. Make them more exclusive to their archetype and less inclusive to the vast majority, and that just *might* fix the meta.

Video will need a bit of correction. Simorgh, Bird of Ancestry is not a Light monster as stated in the video, its a Wind monster. And when talking about the 4 little birds, Bird of Perfection is shown in place of Bird of Protection and despite Protection's effect being read correctly it still shows Perfection and you say Perfection as well. Overall good video. Simorgh is in my top 3 favorite archetypes. The deck definitely has issues and could see a few new support cards.

So depressing how many decks with cool concepts and art are shut down because another archetype abuses the deck's main playmaker and so instead of just using common sense and saying "This effect ONLY applies to Simorg monsters" like they did Goyo Guardian, they just...let the archetype fall and cease to be worth playing in favor of the abusable deck that didn't even need the booster anyway. Fortunately Duel Links is more keen on fixing that with skills bringing cards from "outside the deck" if your deck fulfills certain conditions, allowing siad banned cards to be run or even run 3 of due to the pacing of the game, so there's more variety online with what kind of decks people are willing to try out. I think my biggest complaint with Konami and the TCG is honestly, no matter how "Boring" a trap based lockdown may seem, it's no good to praise other decks for doing the same degenerate things because it's meta at the time while weaker archetypes lose the very piece that just made the degenerate decks more consistent. They need to be willing to stop banning cards like this and just fix the card text, they've done it several times before, so I really don't get it. Granted my complaints are moot anyway, no one's going to buy physical cards just to play for fun, so Konami is really just catering to the tournament players who spend a fortune on booster packs, it just sets a bad precedent for the casual players but that's kind of where Duel Links comes in.

Simorghwas hot because TCG was too lazy to ban the floodgate and instead banned the Link 3. In MD and OCG (MD for sure at least) the deck does nothing nor does the Link 3 in other decks and it's because Barrier Statue was banned. Degenerative gameplay cards are hit and crazy, the op boss monster becomes meh. It's a fun archetype for sure

At this point I feel like they should really just do away with the concept of missed timing. It seems like it only serves to make bad cards even more irredeemable, especially when words as vague as "if' and "when" are the only clear indicator or when they happen, and most cards don't even seem to have it nowadays anway.
