The Endless Adventure guys you arent eating this right. All those dishes should ALWAYS be paired with rice. Otherwise you'll find it too salty or too rich. Also that binagoomgan shrimp paste is a condiment. You dont eat it with one spoon without vegetables or fruits.

1st mistake: Almost every Filipino dish must be enjoy with rice. 2nd mistake: You eat the "kare kare" wrong, you must combine the meat with the peanut sauce with the vegetable and shrimp paste that comes with it, and again best enjoy with rice. P.S. Next time try "dinuguan", "sisig", "chicken adobo", "crispy pata", and "balut"

Hi I'm a Filipino working here in Doha Qatar. Filipinos working abroad like watching foreigner blogging in the Philippines. Kare-kare is my favourite food, you should eat it with a rice. You should mix the bokchoy in kare-kare and a little bagoong. It adds more flavour.

numutv ha ha ha I was laughing when I saw they ate the shrimp paste or binangoungan alone it must be salty... you’re right it should be eaten along with the karekare so it blends with the sweetness of the karekare! Maybe the vendor where they bought the karekare did not explain well how to eat properly the karekare...

That's why the vendor just gave you the shirmp paste with vegetables. They're a part of the dish although some prefer just vegetables. You can add the shrimp paste to taste (if you have green mango, it goes awesome with that too) :).

The shrimp paste backing is paired with kare kare -adds salty flavor to the sweet peanut sauce. The veggie is also eaten usually boiled separate to preserve crunchiness before mixing it with the kare kare

Oh no! That's bagoong. That's more of the seasoning for the kare-kare. The vegetables are usually already mixed into the Kare-Kare already. It's not a separate dish.

So sorry for your tripod, yeah pick pockets a big thing down there. As a foreigner you guys will stand out. Here's some tips when your travelling over there Never leave your things unattended Use Grab or Uber when your travelling around Manila Stay vigilant when talking to strangers Ensure all your valuables are secured Try to stay away from dark or unlighted streets In my experience Filipinos are the most friendliest, accommodating and hard working people I've ever met. But it never hurts to be a little careful sometimes.

Nobody told you folks how those foods are supposed to be eaten. If you notice that they are particularly strong in flavor. That's because that taste is supposed to be diluted in near equal amounts of rice. Treat most Filipino foods as rice toppings. This is the only way to truly capture the intended taste of Filipino food. And by the way, those freebies that seem to be given with the Karekare. The veggies and the pork in shrimp paste. In some servings, they're actually pre-mixed with the food. You're supposed to have them in the spoonful you put in your mouth.

Just a tip, if the dish has strong taste or if the sauce/soup is very thick and too savory, usually we eat it with rice. And Halo halo is translated in English as "mix-mix" so yes, you usually mix up everything before you eat. In my case, i eat half of the ice cream, then the other half i mix with the ingredients to eat. Ube is a root crop from the family of potatoes and sweet potatoes but Ube is colored purple.

That vegetables with shrimp paste goes with the "kare-kare", you meant to mix them together. The seller separate them perhaps due to container constraint. In addition, those Filipino foods you chose should really be eaten with rice to smooth out the strong flavoring on some dishes. Also, Filipino foods have one particular sauce associated with it like Kare-kare with shrimp paste, asado with fish sauce, Lumpia with garlic, onion and vinegar and so on... you guys are so positive, a great couple and you make it great to watch!

The vegetable and the shrimp paste, not Pork binagoongan, go with the kare kare, just like beefsteak with gravy. Some people serve the vegetables from the kare kare separately to prevent the veggies from getting too soggy. You don't eat kare-kare without rice as it is rich in peanut sauce and salty shrimp paste. You don't eat it alone, guys! I wouldn't brave to eat that alone as well as it is really, really, really salty, wow! Thanks guys for trying Filipino foods. You're the best!

The restaurant owners should be explaining to foreigners how the sauces works. For example kare kare. The sauteed shrimp sauce is pretty good with the cooked meat and vegetables with peanut sauce. Top it on a hot rice. It really taste awesome. Lechon is the same thing. The lechon sauce does the magic. It really brings out the flavour of the lechon's savoury taste. If the restaurant failed to explain how foods are eaten in Philippines or they have no time to explain you don't hesitate to ask any Pilipino around. Most of them are friendly and can speak English. They're mostly helpful. I could say 99.9 percent.

My family's country! Yay! Kare kare is my absolute favorite dish - but now I have to make it with mostly vegggies instead of meat. Also, I know this is to late haha - but you eat the bagoong (not binagongan) with the kare kare. We eat soups/stews in the heat to cool down - as counter-intuitive as that sounds. You're also missing the rice - its a shame the vendor didn't give that to you! I'm sorry your tripod got stolen - the Philippines (as much as i love the people) is notorious for pick pockets :(

Fun fact about the Tagalog language and the other dialects in the Philippines. Words that are repeated like kare-kare and halo-halo can add new meaning to a given root word. In the case of kare-kare, kare isn't really a root word per se. Words said twice can mean "like something". Kare kare is based on the curry dishes of Indian immigrants in the country brought here many, many years ago. Curry = kari. So kare-kare would mean "curry-like" as it doesn't use any curry spices but only looks like the dish. For halo-halo, halo is a verb that means mix. The general practiced usage of the word for naming the dessert halo-halo (and how everybody believes it) is the people's literal translation of it - mix-mix. Given the way it is eaten by shoving your spoon in the glass and giving the contents a good mix to get a good ratio of the different ingredients with every spoonful. And as with halo-halo, the origin of its coinage is mixed up. The more sensical translation for halo-halo is from the adjective meaning "variety, hodgepodge, assorted, or mixed etc." which is how you would describe the many ingredients halo-halo has. Mixed emotions would be translated as "Halo-halong damdamin." Or Diverse language as "Halo-halong mga wika". Sari-sari is a direct synonym. Neighborhood sari-sari stores are those mini grocery stalls operated by owners at their own houses. And they sell an ASSORTMENT of household items, drinks, snacks, cigarettes etc. hence sari-sari stores. Halo-halo = Sari-sari. The more you know.🌈

You're eating all that food without rice! They're all designed to go with rice so the flavors might be too strong the way you're tasting them. Not really a fair way to judge the flavors. Also the way you're doing it is an almost sure way to get what we Filipinos call "umay" or "sawa" meaning - to be assaulted/overwhelmed by the flavors to the degree of oversatiation or even nausea. Of course there's always an exception, and if you insist on consuming those viands without rice... the proper Filipino way is to have them with our great San Miguel beer! May I suggest a case for the both of you :P That's six bottles each - just about right for the amount of food you are tasting. Mabuhay!!!

Miri M A is it though? A far larger part of travelling to foreign countries is actually visiting the place! Lets see the sights, the life, the people. Not yet another video of the bottom of a cardboard box of food. I get it, it must be hard churning out these videos every other day, maybe they have got a bit lazy and found a routine of filming breakfast, lunch, dinner... But honestly recently it seems like that's all they ever film, cut from one meal to the next with little or no footage of the country they've travelled to! Such a sad waste of a trip to show us yet another plate of food, that probably could've been bought anywhere lets be honest,. Just really disappointed with these guys. Loved their videos for so long no. Just want then to pan the camera out of that takeaway box and show us the country!!

That pork with the crispy skin looks amazing! I used to live with a Filipina lady and she used to make the most delicious food. She introduced me to the wonders of shrimp paste - it makes everything better 😋

The correct name for 'purple yam' is taro. It's common throughout the Pacific, Japan and East Asia. It's commonly eaten during the Autumn Moon Festival in Macau, where I live.It appears in a few dimsum dishes too. Try wu tau go---you'll love it. I also ate taro often when I lived in Papua New Guinea. It remains one of my favourite vegetables.

You should eat kare-kare with shrimp paste. The vegstable is suppose to be mixed with your Kare-kare. Without shirmp paste, its going to be a little dull.

The kare-kare comprises the tripe and vegetables with the binagoongan as the seafood dip or gravy. All three come as one package for a great blend of flavors.

the bagoong goes with the Kare Kare... it's akin to eating wasabi on its own when you eat bagoong by itself. As for the halo2x (mix mix in english), mix them all up to get a variety of flavor in each bite.

Kare Kare is suppose to include the Vegie and bagoong given to you. In Filipino household we mix it with vegie and bagoong with the peanut sauce and the meat before eating with rice.

1) All dishes are eaten with rice 2) Kare-kare is supposed to be paired with the vegetable and shrimp paste with every bite with rice. 3) Halo-halo means mix-mix, so the desert should be thoroughly mixed prior consumption. Enjoy the Philippines, cheers.....
