Gogeta took the whole “I’ll send you to the next dimension” way too literally.

The reason Vegetto Blue defused was because he wasn’t supposed to be the climax of the fight whereas Gogeta Blue WAS. Every time a fusion is supposed to finish a fight they don’t defuse. Gotenks and SSJ4 Gogeta both defused early because they weren’t supposed to finish the fight. It’s plot.

Aside from the logic of Broly being so powerful that Gogeta HAD to go Blue in order to beat him, I think for marketing purposes that we needed Gogeta Blue for video games, trading cards, figures, etc. because not too long before the Broly movie was the debut of Vegito Blue in the Goku Black Arc

I think the reason it seems like Gogeta blue lasted fused longer Vegito blue is because at this point Goku and Vegeta have much better control and experience in ssb in the broly movie compared to them in the Goku black saga. Also in the manga when they fused into vegito blue they didn't show the completed ssb form. It wasn't until after they fused Vegeta knew goku figured out a way to remove the stamina issues of blue

With what we learned about it in the manga, I now believe Gogeta Blue is superior to UI Goku. Gogeta Blue was on screen for under 5 minutes in real time so I think that is a pretty strong point in favor of the timing idea.

The craziest part about When Gogeta broke reality he was only in ssj1 That means if he can do that in super saiyan imagine what would’ve happened if he went blue doing that

Gogeta vs broly is EXACTLY like a pro player vs. really good player with a winning streak in dbfz. No matter how good you think you are with combos or how determined you are w sparkling blast, you will STILL lose... Easily. Like you literally get beat so bad that by the end you just give up 😂

Gogeta Blue is so ridiculously powerful its hard to imagine him being weaker than Beerus or needing to access a higher power unless against an angel.

In my mind, the Potara earrings facilitate the transformation and as you know we are FAAAAAR beyond Kai powerlevels which was what they were designed for. So Goku and Vegeta just overload the item, do to there crazy power at this point. While Metamorin may well be inferior in many ways it cant get overloaded because there is no item to overload and its based on can the fused body of the two fighters handle that level of power. My personal headcanon? Vegetto was well aware of what was going on and had to hold back constantly to prevent destabilization. While Gogetta had no such issues, pure headcanon mind you just assumptions but it makes the most sense to me.

I always assumed the potara fusion broke due to the earrings not being able to handle/process that amount of power, so the defusing is like a form of short circuiting

What I know is that when the sky turned dark due to shenlok being summoned, broly went full power and almost killed by gogeta in the time that the wish to save him was being said

It always bothered me that Goku and Vegeta never tried fusing during the tournament of power. Kefla proved that using potara earrings was not against the rules. So they could have just asked the supreme Kai for a copy and used those. Or Goku could have had piccolo show Vegeta the fusion dance before the tournament began and the two of them would have been fused for the majority of the tournament. With that kind of power, they probably could have defeated jiren a lot sooner instead of risking it all at the end. I understand the narrative reasons why. Toriyama wanted to make the fight more exciting. He wanted to introduce new transformations like blue evolution and ultra instinct. But from a purely logical perspective, Goku and Vegeta definitely should have fused during the tournament of power.

Complete Headcannon. I assumed Potara broke under stress because it's an "inproper" fusion for anyone who isn't a Kai. Any 2 beings could use the potara. Jiren and Yamcha could use them. It's a powerful, yet forced, fusion. So when you release a large amount of energy, it can break a flimsy foundation. Whereas the fusion dance may be shorter, but because it requires the beings to be at the exact same power level, it's a infinitely more stable fusion, therefore it can withstand the extreme power output far more efficiently. Edit 1: I read a comment that mentioned that the Potara could break because the item (earings) was under stress while with the dance, there is no item to put under that stress. Only their physical bodies, which we all know can handle the extreme output. Edit 2: don't go in the comments, it's a war zone.

Every time I've looked at this fight while he was in blue I can't find a single time Broly landed a hit.

I think the fight between Gogeta and Broly ended quicker than Vegito vs Zamasu was because the power gaps were different. Remember, Zamasu is also a Fusion, so he was still relative to Vegito. Broly was no where near Blue Gogeta.

Gogeta with MUI Goku and GoD Vegeta would be an absolute monster now. I like both Broly iterations but I do like how innocent and not evil direction they took here with this Broly

Vegito Is The Type Of Guy Who Would Go To The Dentist to fix His Bluetooth.

I hate the fusion retcons in Super. It made sense that in DBZ the two different types of fusions were inverses of one another. The Fusion Dance created a weaker fused warrior, but there was a time limit so the two characters fused could always return to normal. The Potara Fusion created a stronger fused warrior, but it came at the cost of being a permanent fusion meaning you had to be damn sure you were ready to give up your individuality to achieve such a greater power. I always assumed, before Super, that the reason Vegito divided back into Goku and Vegeta once they were inside of Majin Buu is due to something mentioned earlier in the Babidi Saga. Babidi stated that Supreme Kai's energy could not be used to revive Buu. Meaning that for whatever reason (We can assume now in Super that it was due to God Ki) the energy of a Supreme Kai does not mix well with Buu's evil/demonic energy. Therefore a fusion created from artifacts of the Supreme Kais, would have probably not mixed well either with the energy inside of Majin Buu and thus this conflict of energies caused the Potara fusion to dissolve. It was basically a rare instance where the fusion was negated that probably wouldn't occur with very many enemies outside of Majin Buu. To me this explanation was way more acceptable than just "Oh yeah, there actually IS a time limit."

I'm sure Vegito defused because the Potara earrings couldn't handle Vegito's power in SSB. Remember that Vegito does have a power limit. Gogeta doesn't have any restrictions like power limit. That means he can use all of his power for the full 30 minutes without defusing. That makes sense to me.

From a story stand point, the idea of Gogeta and Broly entering some sort of new dimension between realities works well because eventually they'll be able to punch through the universal barriers allowing, for example, Goku to access universe 11 to train with Jiren. This would allow them to do this through raw power and negate the need for the Angels to get involved. from a writers stand point I could understand if they did something like this.

You don't need a big complicated explanation for why the potara fusion breaks earlier. It's not meant for mortals, so it doesn't function as intended when mortals use it.

I'm mentioning this because, in your Mui Goku vs Gogeta blue debate, you concluded that Mui Goku is stronger. Also, in the broly movie, Goku says fusion is the only way to beat Broly after their encounter with only just ssj broly (before his berserk form) So Gogeta Blue is definitely stronger.

I remember during fight with merged Zumasu, old jai dated that the reason they defused so early is the earrings couldn’t handle the power output and they reached their limit on stabilizing the fusion the more they raised their energy. So my guess the reason Gogeta fusion was used is that the fusion is held together by their own power and gogeta can raise his energy output as. I have as desired maybe even breaking a limit without prematurely separating.

7:48 again, I’ll have to disagree with you there. If anything, Gogeta was using less power than Vegito. Gogeta fights for half of the time in SSJ which is far less taxing on the Time Limit and even when he goes Blue he still holds back. Vegito started the fight in Blue and kinda just shat out all of his remaining power with the Final Kamehameha and in the Manga it was implied that Goku and Vegeta not being Kais had something to do with the heavily shortened time limit.

But combing divine energy with a mortal style of fusion begs the outcome that gogeta is now beyond the time limit. Godly power on a mortal technique vs a mortal technique on a godly power Plus I practice martial arts, so I root my theory in ki control and, the willingness to become gogeta vs the forcefullness of becoming vegito, has a huge gap between them. One is decided by gods, whereas another is a choice driven performance. Gogeta will always be the better option, given the chance.

3:00 imma have to disagree with you there Geekdom. Gogeta even in Red would have still completely stomped Broly as he did with Blue. Going Blue was more like a safety precaution because he realised how fast Broly was adapting. Even then, Gogeta was still not going all out and was shown that he could’ve killed Broly immediately if he wanted to. When Broly went Full Power SSJ, he wasn’t that much more powerful than SSJ Gogeta so the God multiplier would still be far too large for Broly to overcome if Gogeta went Red.

Vegito. Fusion is the strongest. The broly and Gogeta fight was quicker in real time than Vegito vs zamasu.. Zamasu was immortal and wouldn’t die…

Vegito may last twice as long as Gogeta, but Goku and Vegeta need access to Potara earrings, which they may not have on them or be able to get at that time, or they could even be destroyed. However, Metamoran fusion can be done anywhere in like 15 seconds. So while the dance lasts for less time, it's more convenient than the earrings. The 30 minute limit doesn't really matter anyway, since the fusions are strong enough to take down any opponent they're formed against. Unless plot.

The reason you didn’t see Goku & Jiren break into another dimension in the TOP was because they were already fighting in a void that could handle that type of battle. Then again, there are inconsiderate such as when Goku and Beerus first fought, they couldn’t fight I think for too long or go all out due to the universe feeling it’s affect. Yet you have way more powerful foes after that which that didn’t seem to be an issue anymore.

I think with the learning curve of Goku & Vegeta the more times they fuse the more they get used to it so maybe the power wont have as much of an effect because they have better control

My headcannon for why Gogeta didn't defuse early in universe and Vegito did was because of the advantages of Metamoran fusion over Potara merger. While Potara might be stronger, using the full power of both components rather than equalizing them to the weaker component's full power, it can only handle so much power, due to requiring items to merge. Had Goku and Vegeta used Potara, they likely would've finished the fight sooner, but also would have had to finish it sooner due to the Potara not being as reliable as Metamoran fusion.

Cause after a rewatch, it appears a little that blue goku alone started to have him on the ropes . So theoretically, broly jump from base level blue, to super saiyan equal to blue fusion

Gogeta & Broly were always destined to fight. Just stemming back from the video games, even though it was old Broly, there was a foreshadow in Budokai 3 intro. They're the titans of the entire DB fanbase

One more thing to mention is that Half of the Gogeta battle was in Base n Super saiyan While we know a Fusion defuses based on their output if u see what they say it could mean its not the output but actually the form on the fusion instead (ex. SS Vegito was above Gotenks SS3 but he didnt defuse early but gotenks did) So Its possible Gogeta’s timer was going perfectly until he went blue but he ended the battle so quickly that it didnt even matter, Which him also not being at full power probably helped at (until the End of the fight)
