Thanks for the offering. I've a 25+ yr old Scotty Newport, 30 +yr old anser 2, a zebra and a Bullseye from my high school days. The Scotty is my gamer

I was fitted to a toe hang putter. And after experimenting for a while with different putters I agree with that fitting. I can tell that on my practice green the face balanced putter has a tendency to ever so slightly pull the ball, small amount, but it's there. I use a slight toe hang now just to help the blade stay open that fraction longer and it is making a difference.

Great video Chris. According to the PING app I have a strong arc stroke about 8°. For the past 20 years or so I’ve always used a toe hang putter BUT last year I went to a Lie Angle Balanced putter LAB DF 2.1 and sold my TM Spider EX and my 4 year old Evnroll ER2 This LAB Putter is amazing. ZERO TORQUE, no manipulation to keep the head square at impact. Even with my arc type stroke this putter doesn’t fight me. So natural and smooth. Yea it looks like BRANDING IRON but I got over the looks VERY FAST!! never putted better in my life and I’ve been playing nearly 30 years!!

First putting video I’ve seen giving a clear explanation of toe hang v face balanced. Also acknowledges need to get a sound technique before fitting. I’m sure like many high handicappers Im guilty of changing my putting technique depending on the putter in my hand. I have a classic Scotty Cameron Studio Design No 1. It looks fantastic but it’s not helping me at all. Very helpful video.

Great video Chris. This reminds me of when I got fitted for my putter, where I was fitted into a 20 degree toe hang putter, because I needed help keeping the face open just a touch as I naturally shut the putter face during my swing. I have to say the putter fitting helped my game more than any other fitting. Sadly I can’t blame my putter for misses anymore though…. Its all down to me

I don’t understand how anyone would think that a “toe-hang” putter would help with a miss to the right. That’s an interesting “myth” that I had never heard about. At some point I would love to hear your thoughts on L.A.B. putters. I had a “toe-hang” type putter and putted decently, but with the L.A.B. my putting is at a much different level.

This Nonsense is due to the misunderstanding of Toe Flow. *The mistake is thinking TF/H helps the Face to Close.* The Truth is TF/H CLOSES on the Takeaway and OPENS on the Forward Stroke.

Direction is important...but, pace is to me more important. I want to give all putts a chance at going in but you have to be able to count on no MORE than 2 putts. This is where pace is so important. I bought a NEW Ping Zing 2 this season. A fun classic putter for sure, love the feel. I had the best putting season in I don't know how long.

I went with the Squareback Special Select SC. Fitted my eyes better than the smaller blade. Great feedback from heel and toe strikes. The center face feels like putting, the way Colin Montgomerie says, THROUGH the ball as if it's not there.

Putter length really important too. After a recent fitting it was clear my old putter had been at least an inch too long. Yet it had stayed in the bag for 20 years. Ridiculous. Also important is the feel off the face. You have to like the sensation. Feel.

Great video. So tried of hearing people say you just be fitted. No you need a consistent stroke so the fitting actually gives you something that the fitter can use. It's the same for all clubs. A couple of lesson and time spent practising what the pro have told you to do will make a world of difference that just a fitting and 300-600£ spent in a club can never do.

I had the putting yips for over a few months and was still consistently in the mid to low 70s. I pushed the ball every putt and was told to get a toe hang putter and it made it even worse. I tried my brothers face balanced spider and shot a career low 64 because I hit my line every time. I will be on the lookout for any face balanced putters now that I like the look of.

Started with a dodgy Hippo mallet putter, but moved to a Maxfli Aim TS. Have gone from 4-5 putting to 2-3 putting. Not bad for a freebie.

Putting is probably the best part of my game. I remember swapping around putters a good bit back in the early 2000s. But I've been using the same Odessey 2-ball blade for over 15 years now, and doubt i'll ever change. Guess it's sort of a hybrid between a blade and a mallet.

I think the term “toe flow“ is what created this myth, toe hang is not actually flowing more it’s working against rotation “flow”

Thank you Chris, for this informational video. I truly believe lessons are important. I did have a question for you. Have you ever tried an Axis 1, putter or any of these no tork putters and What do you think? If you haven't, I really enjoy seeing you review one or more. Thanks again, and keep up the great work, Cheers.

I don't get this good enough to use a blade putter. I learnt to putt with an A.G.Spalding forged head putter over 50 years ago It's got a metal shaft but the design looks like it should have been a hickory stick. I haven't played regularly for over 40 years and not at all for 25 years until I took the game up 5 month ago. I've tried half a dozen putters that were Ok but I didn't feel confident like I did as a kid. Lucky for me I kept my Spalding putter and it's been in my bag for the last month. I now step up to a putt from anywhere on the green expecting it to finish in gimme range. unless it's less than 10ft then I expect it in!

Brilliant video which confirms my suspicions. Does it work the other way round as well? ie If i have a tiny arc can I use a toe hang putter? I quit fancy the Ping Oslo because the strong line helps my aim but Ping says it is for strong arc! Should i ignore them??

I had a triple track ten but was pulling everything. I was lucky to play a round with a course pro who watched my stroke and he recommended something with alot of toe hang. I got a great deal on a Cameron Del Mar, and my putting has improved ten fold in practice. When I finally get out for a round, I'm sure I'll cut 3 or 4 strokes. Is it all in my head?

Not Really. All other things being equal (Aim, Stroke, Starting the Ball ON Line) a Face Balanced Putter Takes you towards a PULL side Miss. As Toe Flow/Hang starts to Increase the Ball starts moving toward s the PUSH Side. The SC Del Mar Models have always been among the Stronger TF/H choices.

An Anser style putter isn't a blade anyway, there are very few true blade putters sold these days and the name has been adopted to describe Anser style putters. In a similar way, flanged blade putters now tend to be called Napa style, just because Cameron called his version by that name....

Please stop referencing to James Robinson. I find him childish and annoying. He waffles along with largely useless content after his clickbait titles. In my opinion you devalue your content by engaging with his antics so frequently. Short game is obviously the most important area to lower players scores and you have a lot of good information that can help people.
