The lynx is a small wild cat, but it delivers a heavy punch for its size. Bobcats are like lynxes, with a few exceptions. Have you ever seen a lynx hunt down a large deer? What do you think a bobcat would do if it encountered a dog? Join us, as we look at 15 merciless hunting moments of Lynx’s and Bobcats

Bobcat Hunt Squirrel
In this video, a squirrel narrowly escapes death, when a bobcat jumps from the roof of a solarium to attack it. The bobcat even follows the squirrel up a tree, but to no avail. The people recording this video have seen bobcats on the live cam before, but never during a successful hunt. Well, things finally changed as the bobcat pounced on a squirrel and killed it. All the other squirrels have been warned. Out for his daily stroll, a man who takes his lunchtime in the park, not too far from work, spots a crouching bobcat up ahead. Naturally, he stops because he doesn’t need those claws to scratch him, and it turns out he’s grabbing some lunch for himself, when he snatches a cute squirrel. I knew leopards were skilled and agile when climbing trees, but the bobcat isn’t so bad either.
He spots a squirrel and runs up the tree to snatch the rodent, and bingo, breakfast is served. It looks like these two are playing, but it’s the last thing on the squirrel’s mind, as he uses his speed and agility to avoid being killed, but the bobcat is too quick and makes the kill. Bobcats are just one of the many critters the man filming this video regularly spots in his neighborhood, but never has he seen a bobcat interact with a squirrel in this manner. In this video, we witness a squirrel using some amazing speed and acrobatics to evade the predator, as it bounces off a fence, but in the end, the bobcat is too fast and agile. Are you surprised to see a bobcat in the city? Bobcats were only discovered in the wild because it was their last refuge from persecution. Bobcat populations grew, and the cats spread to farmlands, suburbs, and even urban parks. In other words, they weren’t living in the wild before they were kicked out by humans. They were urban dwellers.
Bobcat Hunts Dog
The man filming this video watched his dog minding his own business when a bobcat tried to attack him. The canine made a few moves, a little shuck and jive, and he was safe! A man and his dog are ambushed by a bobcat on their way home, and the man runs with his dog to get inside the house as quickly as possible, as the bobcat tries to bite the dog. The man prevents the dog from defending himself, most probably to avoid contact with the cat, afraid he might have rabies.
The man finally manages to open the door and take his dog inside, while the bobcat leaves. This big dog spots a bobcat in his backyard, but he wants to play with it, and the bobcat is also calm. What does this tell me? It tells me that these two are friends and know each other.

In 2011 I found three bobcat cubs on my property and raised them in the house on a doll baby bottle with kitten replacement formula. I released then when they were able to hunt on their own 🐆🐆🐆❤️

In my country (Poland) the most common prey for lynx is roe deer which can waight up to 35 kg, hence about the same size or usually larger than the cat itself. It is quite aparent in this movie that Bobcats are smaller species of lynxes therefore choose smaller prey. Excellent document. Thanks for sharing.

Animals killing may seem merciless ,but they are killing to eat. In comparison humans kill for arbitrary and extreme reasons such as greed, jealousy, hate and war even for pleasure such as canned hunting.

I was told by a ranger in one of the national parks in Europe that this nasty cat can kill several deer PER DAY and only consume the nose and the anus. While living in one of the states in the US I called police and asked what can I do when wild animals steal my animals, and this is what I was told: "you can do all that you need to do to protect your animals." Enough said - from then on wild animals didn't have an easy access to my animals - I lived at the edge of wilderness.

Lol, no number twelve does not mean they are friends...it means that dog was three times its size and the bobcat decided it was in its best interest not to attack this one...

Lynxes are actually the largest small cat after the cougar. Which makes them far from small in the world of cats overall. Eurasian lynxes can get to about the size of a German Shepard and have been known to kill adult wolves in the wild and kill large dogs with some regularity.

It would also be good to see the Euro-Asian lynx. They are much larger and orange-brown in color. They can weigh almost 80 pounds. But you can hardly see them and they are like ghosts

I raised a bobcat fron a cub, there claws are like razors, there bit force is much greater than any dog. They are super aggressive, in the wild the lynx is bigger, but the bobcat will defeat the lynx, because the lynx is passive,

I hate how these videographers picture clickbait images such as the initial click on still of a bobcat with three kills as though any wild cat would ever kill indiscriminately like that. Same when the rare reports/posts videos of Old World shepherds and North American ranchers who claim wolves killed 100 of their sheep or 20 calves in one night. Truth is predators as a rule/habit do not kill more prey than they can reasonably consume in a matter of days, returning to carcasses to feed. They are hard wired to instinctively not do this as they would exhaust their food supply far to rapidly and have to seek out more animals ultimately. Eventually, decimating their food supply and literally starving themselves to death. There may have occurred as a freak one off on occasion of a predator, say a single wolf with a brain disorder who then suddenly went rogue and went on a killing spree or in the ultra rare case where a lone wolf attacked a person but that is not typical of the species. There is footage of a large wolf pack numbering almost 2 dozen members taking down 3 herd members, in this case elk but that is what that size of a pack would require for consumption at any given time. Even that pack was observed and documented to have not hunted for several days, with members witnessed lulling around, sleeping, playing and bounding as a unit. Itwas winter and when it's cold all animals whether predator or preyspent much of the day feeding or pursuing food except for those that hibernate overwinter. In fact, wolves coyotes, foxes and some members of the weasel family cache/ hoard food burying it as a backup for leaner times. A natural freezer if you will.

In all states in USA there are limits on how many bobcat can be harvested in a year. They are not endangered. Coyotes in many states have no limits, open season all year, & they are still overpopulated in many areas.

Actually, bobcats are lynxes, it is one of four extant species of lynx, the bobcat is also officially known as the red lynx based on its scientific name (Lynx rufus), it is also known that the bobcat is the youngest and most derived of the four extant lynx species.
