Leslie, if you ever have leftover baked potatoes they make the best fried potatoes All you are doings is browning them in the oil.

Yes, ma'am they do. Also, if there are any leftover mashed potatoes, shread (raw potatoes) mix them into the leftover mashed potatoes with a beaten egg or two, and fry them up for a great side to eggs and breakfast meat in the morning

I dont know how I missed this one guys. Your supper sounds heavenly! I love my cast iron, it's like a right of passage for a southern gal to have her cast iron cookware.I use my glass top for everything, it is scratched a bit but that's just love in the cookin.I love my crunchy cornbread, especially for a midnight snack with milk! I love kielbasa and sauerkraut! I have had it prepared by Polish people and I love it. I never learned how they do it exactly, but I did learn a quick version which is almost like yours. I do butter and onions, add kraut and cook a little, then add the kielbasa (I cut just like you). It is great!

My comfort food was when my Mom made sauerkraut and weinies. But she put it over mashed potatoes. We were doing that but now that we are dieting we have it over mashed cauliflower. Its pretty good. Your grandsons are adorable!

When I make fried potatoes I used my slicer that belonged to my grandmother (I use it to slice cucumbers, onions, potatoes, zucchini and have seen the same slicer in stores selling Amish kitchen utensils). Makes wonderful fried potatoes and onions. Growing up my grandmother also add scrambled eggs to the potatoes. Very good. My family loves it that way and also add smoked sausage sliced. Love your recipes and have made many of them for the family.

Hey Leslie! Wonderful video! This was a staple for us growing up-switched between mashed potatoes and fried potatoes. Tip-put your sliced potatoes (or anything really) in your salad spinner-works like a charm!!!

This is one of our favorite meals and of course we add some pinto(soup) beans!!! And we also put ketchup on our potatoes and I use regular milk for my bread!! Have a blessed weekend.

This looks wonderful!! I need to make this! When our daughter was little one of her favorite meals is Martha's Meal. Martha is her grandmother. Martha would fry ham, fry potatoes, and blackeye peas. My father-in-law would make fried cornbread patties. This was one of our favorite simple, sourhern meals. You all have a blessed weekend!!

@@mamamode1312 I take about 3/4 cup self rising cornmeal, 1/4 cup flour, 1 egg, pinch of salt, then I add enough buttermilk or milk (whatever I have) to make it kinda thin. You don't want it to be too thick and clumpy and you don't want it too thin. It's hard to explain. I don't really measure out the ingredients. I hope this helps!

That is one of my most favorite meals and sometimes I use buttermilk and sometimes milk it all depends on what I have on hand, but both are good! I can see my Daddy eating his cornbread and milk that's something he dearly loved especially for a late night snack. Daddy is in heaven with Jesus now and I miss him so much !

Make my cornbread with buttermilk. My husband makes our sauerkraut & sausage...so delicious because he 1st uses garlic & onion cooked in olive oil letting them sweat in the skillet, rinses the jar of kraft thru a collander & adds to the onion & garlic. He then adds the sausage & bacon & let's them cook for a bit. Then adds a sweet, dry white wine letting it evaporate to flavor the sausage & kraut. So delicious! A must try for anyone who loves kraut & sausage.

I've been making this for yrs. my kids always loved it.and I used onions too and a little something hot.........my kids loved the heat......but was never real hot....I use buttermilk, don't have it always, so I take a cup of reg. milk add a tbsp. of vinegar let it sit abut 10 mins. stir and add to the corn meal mixture and add a tsp. of sugar..... and I have buttermilk.....and it does the job as well.....and I also add onions to my cornbread too, sometimes even hot peppers....., sometimes I just try different things ....its always good, never have to throw cornbread away, I usually make it in muffin pan and freeze the muffins and I always have cornbread when I want it.....and it is still good just heat and add in milk or eat it with beans, chili, etc........

Ok, I stopped this video and went in the kitchen and made fried potatoes, onions and sausage. I don't have any sourkraut. Yummy! If I ever get another stove it will NOT be glass top. Hasn't been my favorite.

That meal looks delicious and I know it is ! That kind of food is the absolute best ! I make my cornbread with "sweet milk", because buttermilk is too expensive here. My Mom always called them sweet milk and buttermilk when I was growing up. I guess it's a southern thing. Those babies are adorable, I love hearing them play.

With my cornbread, I use two boxes of jiffy cornbread, substitute butter for (instead of) oil, add some honey, a little milk, some extra butter, an extra egg, and I add about a quarter of a box of yellow cake mix. Marie Callender's tall sweet fluffy cornbread was my goal. It's pretty close.

Try a big dollop of mayo in your cornbread. Very good. Makes it moist and I use a little more buttermilk. Mayo is a trick from my grandmother who was a fantastic cook.

I guess ignorance is bliss. I've been using cast iron and canning on my smooth surface stove for over 25 years, so far so good. And kraut & wieners, fried potatoes, pinto beans and cornbread is a winner meal for us any day of the week!!! Most of the time I use sweet milk for my cornbread, but if I have buttermilk I will use it. Love it either way!

I do this sauerkraut and Kelbaska and add precooked onions and garlic. Add those in fried potatoes too. I also have glass stove stop and my cast iron has scratched it up. I'll won't stop using them though.

Loved this one! Put some bacon grease in those potatoes, girl!😁 I wanted to see how you cooked kielbasa and kraut and what brand of kraut you used. Sometimes I nuke my potatoes a little, let them cool and then peel and brown in butter in skillet. Delicious! Blessings for your channel!

Never heard of cornbread in any milk until my daughter married her Mount Airy husband. Now I hear more and more about it with sweet milk (as my Grandma called it) and buttermilk.
