Let's find out what Americans think of others - and themselves! I've been interviewing a whole bunch of people in five different states, and asking them about their level of satisfaction with their lives and their country - and about their impressions of other nations! Their answers were often thoughtful, often funny, but always surprising! Join me as I mingle with the citizens, and find out what Americans actually think of themselves and others!

i love my Country... wonderful opportunities if you apply yourself, the chance for entrepreneurial enterprises is amazing.. diverse nation of people and geography, some fantastic natural parks. we have real issues on politics, and the ability to just talk, civilly, about things you disagree on, has escalated immensely since 2007 or so.. not sure when we get over this, wont be anytime soon.. i actually think we are more welcoming to foreigners than to each other, when it becomes "Progressive vs Conservative" in almost every scenario. we know foreigners dont vote,.. lol.. and are only interested in hearing about their country, their family history, etc. I think Americans are very curious about other cultures, with so many represented here. love this Vid Ms Pea... very interesting to hear some peoples answers.. as someone who has lived all over the country, and from tiny towns of 1400 people, to cities of 2 million, out in the country, or inside the city..ive met a huge variety of personality thats driven by location more than anything..

I wish you had added where you were as you interviewed these folks. I was shocked by the one guy rating his happiness as only a 6 because he is in construction. I spent most of my working life ( now 68 ) in construction. For me it was always enriching to be able to look back at the end of the day and say, "awesome, look what I did today !".

The guy with your longest interview came close to connecting 2 really related points (IMO). Technologies (and other factors) has led to a decrease in neighborly “face-to-face” social interaction and increase in “on-line” tribalism. It is simply human nature to want to belong. But since we no longer have to interface with our neighbors as much at church, the store, etc., we simply do not feel we need to get along. Instead, we know we can find “friends” that reaffirm our beliefs instead of question our facts. To answer your question, what I would change is tribalism. As the world’s biggest experiment in creating a “melting pot”, we cannot afford it. Anyway….I’m still crushing on Captain Pea ❤🧡❤! LOL

I really appreciate you taking the time to ask people what their thoughts are. @@TheFilipinaPea 1. probably only fixable by live check - cameraman/woman should use some monitor closed construction headphones. So she can adjust settings. Some sound studio equipment store would be best for advice. Or some sound master guy. 2. from physics point of 'hearing' the type of mics you are using (most Phils youtubers :D - maybe others too, but I am mostly focused there - thanks to you ;-) ) are most suitable to studio environment. And are very heavy too - so it moves and make terrible noise if person moves. That's why they use separate radio/battery part clipped on their backs and very light cable mic part clipped to t-shirt (but ordinary little bit more down on chest area rather than neck area) in TV studios. And for this reasons TV reporters ordinary use hand mics, because there is different type of sensor which is more directional and less sensitive to surrounding noises.

I live in the North, and it's true, we can be a little impatient. If you have something to say, just get to the point. 🤣 I always enjoy your videos, and you never fail to make me laugh. I'm quite happy to live in the US, but we do have our problems. Our public education system is crap. We can argue about why that is, or the right way to fix it, but there's no denying that it is failing us. You can get a good education, but you'd have to go outside the public education system, such as private schools, or as some do, home schooling. I also agree that we're a bit too divided, but I think that's more because of politicians and the media, not because we ourselves are so divided. I have a variety of friends, and we don't all agree on everything, politically or religiously, but we all get along just fine. We can count on one another when the need arises. I'm not going to criticize most other countries, because none of us are perfect, and I don't know enough about their cultures to say much anyway. I wish I had the time and money to visit more places, but the only place I've been to outside the US is Indonesia. I really enjoyed it there. I loved the food, and everyone seemed nice, and it had some beautiful scenery.

Currently, our savings will go farther in the Philippines so we are planning to retire there. I have served this country along with 5 generations of my family. We are patriotic however, my wife and I are also very adventurous and we like going to different places. As a a US citizen, I have the privilege to explore and travel. So, we are taking advantage of it😂 Thanks for the insights, and its good you are having fun😊👍🤙 Take care, and have a good week😊

1. This is basic principle of managing nations - tired people does not protest (if they have something to eat and somewhere to stay warm). 2. Modern 9 to 5 'slavery' is common all over 'modern' world. Another slavery is economical (so huge usage of credit cards (almost unknown in EU, where most people use debit cards), all life mortgages - very difficult to buy own home). 3. "way too expensive here" it could be personal, but in general US are on top in wealth and real wages. Also US and Canada consume most energy per person in the world. So basically US and Can. people are simply spoiled and have no idea, because live in own bubble and have no clue how people live in the rest of the world.

It's sad that younger people rank their happiness so low here in the US. I think much of it comes from being given everything in life, and they haven't grasped that you have to work hard for the finer things in life. The US is one of the easiest places in the world to live your dreams if you are willing to put effort into it. On an odd note, suddenly I'm getting all sorts of videos about retirees (mostly single males) from the US that are moving to the Philippines and realizing they aren't going to live like rock stars on their very low Social Security checks, and in some cases even going broke. I'm going to be critical for a moment, if you are in your sixties and haven't accumulated anything besides Social Security, (some of these checks are on the very low end of the scale) you have made very bad career, financial, and life decisions. Don't blame the Philippines because you make nothing but bad decisions in your life, but think you are going to live abroad, sleep with 20 year olds because no self respecting woman would date such an underachiever here. Don't blame the Philippines because you have spent roughly 47 years as an adult and can't get your shit together! I retired at 55 years old in the US and am living the dream here. I love the Philippines, the women, and the life in the Philippines in small doses. That said, I'm just too spoiled to our way of life here. On a funny note, I did communicate with and really thought I had met the woman of my dreams in the Philippines once. Naturally, I met the only smoking hot woman in the Philippines that wants no part of moving to the US. She makes decent money there as an RN, and while she has no children, she has close family ties and will never move here. BTW, I shouldn't say she is the only one that doesn't want to move here, I'm sure there are others. But, naturally I found her, and I have no intention of relocating there. Once again, I'm too spoiled.

@@TheFilipinaPea If it's just a vacation for my own travelling enjoyment, several weeks. If I had a love interest there I could naturally devote more time. Let's say I ever one day truly meet the love of my life there, I could easily see myself spending a great deal of our winter there, and maybe two to three trips there for up to a couple of weeks each trip for her to see her family. I have a home in Texas and several short term rental properties in Florida. You just came from Fl, I would have suggested other Fl destinations, but you got a good taste of the state. I already feel like I'm living in paradise there. Not to be critical of the Philippines, but surely you recognize the conveniences and lifestyle we live here with modest wealth. I simply can't give that up permanently. Can't wait for you to come back here. I totally loved your take on our country and culture. Curious, assuming you have read this far, if you could change one thing (or several things) about the US, what would it be? What didn't suit you well?

OH Pea: Great interviews! Interesting responses to your questions from your subjects. Its no surprise that the older generation's happiness levels are higher, and they are more content with the situations in the USA. They have seen and done way more than the young folks who for the most part just want everything now and free. It's no shock what Americans said about Canada. We get a ton of American tourists around my area, and for the most part they love coming to Canada to get away from the constant stresses of their politically polarized way of life. They can relax while they are here, and feel a great deal safer because the only people that are actually allowed to carry a gun on them is the police. Yet some of them still believe that we all live in Igloos, and drive dog sleds to work through 4 feet of snow as soon as they cross the border (and most of those people are coming from just over the border). You would get a real different statistical outcome asking those questions to Canadians. Most would be in the upper regions of 8/10 for how happy they are in Canada, but a greater majority would love to travel around to see other cultures and experience other countries for themselves before making a landing spot to move to. You would also get some really interesting things said about the description of the people from other countries as well. Already anticipating the next video Pea. Hopefully one day you can make a trip to Canada and experience how much the same and how vastly different we are from our southern brothers and sisters.

@@PhilippinesLife101 what you fail to understand and realize is that Canada's crime rate is soooo much lower than the USA's crime rate which is another reason tourists feel safer traveling to Canada, than our Neighbors down south. If you would have taken all the variables into consideration before summing up your response you wouldn't have jumped to the conclusion that you did. Plus you have done absolutely zero research into the actual crimes that are being done here in Canada and how many of them involve guns. Comparing those statistics to the USA, Canada is a much safer place to be.

I will disagree with you. I think what the younger generation has a problem with is the fact that many of the older generations think, "I did this all on my own so go eff off." I am of an older generation and even with all the hard work I have put in I am not able to own a home. I will never be able to retire in the US. The fact that the higher ups in companies see a worker as a number and not a person means that I'd they could work you until you died, they would. There used to be a work life balance that the younger generations aren't able to maintain because of thought processes like you have espoused.
