Sea fishing in the UK in Spring is hard work. The weather can give you 4 seasons in a day and the sea can be very moody. Working really hard to find the fish I explore 2 new areas of reef and test their potential for future fishing. The underwater footage revealed an amazing ecosystem of marine life. Soft corals, sponges and fans with multiple fish species and then I try to find a little shelter out of the wind and try another new mark. Will I manage to escape the dogfish?

What a great session that was, doggies are not ideal but they have saved many a fisherman from a blank session so cant really complain, love the underwater stuff, watching crabs of any species is always good fun, another lovely session, all the best

I remember spending a day skinning doggies caught by my dad, in south west Scotland when I was younger. They were good eating and he managed to sell what we didn’t keep. We don’t get them off the North East coast.

Dogfish...Dogfish...Dogfish...We had 19 in the boat before they moved off after about 2 hours as the light faded. Then we had a 25 and 23 lb conger, which is what we were after. Every time you get one and shake your head I know exactly what you mean. I always remember years ago when I took my son fishing in the boat for the first time and I caught a Squid, as I hauled it over into the boat it inked all over the deck...that is not before it sprayed me with a jet of water, the look on my son's face was a picture lol. Enjoyed watching as usual. Tight lines bud..onto the next ;-)

Thanks for the few tips on your recent florida videos . Had the best flattie session in 20 years out of Cork Harbour last weekend on the boat. Tried one up ,one down scratching rigs with small carp hooks - absolutely bagged up. Never in my life did I think I'd be using King prawn tails 😅. You love them dogs lol. When fishing with a big bate and getting plagued with small fish have you tried a stinger rig? A large hook and bate with a trialling small hook an bate. 🦑🦑🦀🐠🦈👩‍🍳

I will never use a stinger when there are doggies around as they just engulf it down their throat. And with lures, the tail snappers are always small fish. So would be returned anyway. So there’s no point.

@@TheFishLocker O yes the dogs would swollow the hook deep and that would be bad I did'ent think of that. Ty for the info on the laurs as I have not used them. See top vids and good info the new John Willson of sea fishing.

I didn't know we had rays in the UK an didn't think the water was as clear when we could see the star fish

Another great one. Really love those underwater shots in the crystal clear water. Your echo sounder is certainly a great piece of equipment. Maybe if you set out to film a dogfish catching video they wouldn't turn up! Eagerly awaiting the next episode, they remind me of the time when I was your age, a long time ago I'm afraid.

@@TheFishLocker- John - There have been several days when after using Sabiki rigs to catch all of my live bait that I was happy to call it quits after that. It was just so fulfilling when it happened. We did continue on that day, but I was replete with satisfaction. Stay safe.

I haven't had to many dog fish I don't no if that's a really bad thing that proves im a realy bad fisherman or just really unlucky or lucky depending on how you look at it 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I loved watching them crabs having a go at each other with the under water footage. Great watch always a pleasure mate!!!! Take care mate tight lines 🎣🎣🎣🎣
