Fixed "Idle Relearn Procedure" High Idle Surges P0507 Nissan Murano, Maxima, Altima

I would try doing an idle relearn first if you have this code or if you have a high or surging Idle. Works on most Nissan, Maxima, Morano, Altima, Sentra and more
*Idle Relearn P0507*
Idle Air, Volume Learn.
1. Make sure the accelerator pedal is fully released.
2. Turn ignition ON, do not start the engine, then wait 3 seconds turn the ignition back off and wait for 10 sec.. redo this procedure 3 times
3. Next, Fully depress and release the accelerator pedal 5x within 5 seconds
4. Wait 5 seconds, then fully depress and hold accelerator pedal. After Approximately 10 seconds, the Malfunction indicator light will switch from steady to blinking. Approximately 9 seconds later, the light changes from blinking to steady once again.
5. Fully release accelerator pedal and start the car within 3 seconds.
6. Allow idling. Wait 20 seconds.

Worked the first time....i had to put plugs in so obviously i had to remove intake and all kinds of BS...found leaking valve cover so i had to replace that...put everything back together and when j first started the car idled VERY HIGH at 2K for atleast 10 mins so i knew there was an issue....did this manual procedure and restarted now im back at 750....THANK YOU SIR!!!!

Sounds like my problem too. I found I had a leaking valve cover gasket. Put everything back together and same issue you described. What a man gotta do to do a tune up . Ugh! Thanks for the info!! I really appreciate it. I feel better now. Lol.

Nissan shows for step 2 to do it 5 times. MY question is once you cycle it from off to on the button or key on that last cycle you have turned it off so do you turn it on then press the pedal for 7 seconds for step 3?

Thanks for answering my question as to whether this works on 6th gen! I've seen another variation of this procedure that had some differences, and didn't work. Hopefully this one will.

I have a '10 Altima with a push to start ignition. How can I do this same process with my push to start? (Since the ignition and engine start simultaneously.)

Step 1: get a key ignition like a sensible person.

steps for the idle relearn on a Nissan have to be precise. Best to have those advanced scanners to take care of the idle relearn.

Was not helpful with 507 because what may have caused the idle to be high in the first place. Could there be something that caused this? No diagnosis done or explained.

Yes, it should. It is pretty difficult and will usually take many tries.

I have 2007 maxima 71,oo bought new bak then it sat for awhile, now I'm having problems yesterday replaced crank and cam sensors then this p0507 comes on, I go to auto zone and the other one and this part number does not exist in their system, but it does exist in the garages computers......WTF, we're can I find the part? How much is it going to cost for the job with out bring this car bak to the dealer ship ? And are you going to reply ..we're are yup located, thank you

You would recommend bringing it back to the dealer and have them do the idle relearn with the factory scan tool if it keeps setting p0507. The Manuel reset does not always work and can some times take several dozen attempts.

I have same code that has been on a while now wont car wants to crank over but no start. Do u think it's my etb?

Most likely not. Typically will not prevent the car from starting.

@@FlatRateMechanic my 06 Altima won’t crank and has the p0507 code. Would lose acceleration for a second then work again then shortly again lose acceleration. Wouldn’t start the other the morning but later that day it started. The next day, it would crank but not start up. Would this be the air intake valve being stuck closed? Should I just get a new throttle body or just the AIV? Or would the idle relearn fix it? The car sat for 3 years so I’m sure a lot could be wrong. Only 130k miles on it.

My 07 Altima stopped hunting after doing the manual reset a dozen times, but it idles at 2000 rpm and when I start to remove the air duct it runs perfectly till I remove it fully and the engine stalls. Any advice besides take it to the dealer?

The "High air surges" is almost always caused by the "Throttle Body" and/or the "Mass Air Flow" sensors; being dirty and/or carbon sticking to the TB flapper. The best way to solve this problem is to remove both items (TB and MAF) and clean them thoroughly with the proper cleaner sprayers. Be very careful with the MASS; it is delicate and easily damaged so use ONLY the spray on the MAF but on the TB you can use a tooth brush to clean it thoroughly. You can buy the TB cleaner and the MASS cleaner under the name of CRC at auto stores. Once cleansed, dried and re-installed, you must "Re-Learn" the computer.
