I know it’s probably a silly question and I don’t really know how to explain it but how do you get that like vibrating sound while holding a note? Mine always sounds like one constant pitch/note and does not do that vibrating sound... how do you do that?

Just got a flute yesterday, all I gotta say is I personally believe it's harder to play than the (alto/tenor) saxophone, it takes far more air and you can't place your lips on something solid and firmly like a mouthpiece or a reed, props to flute players tbh

Just bought a flute today from an antique/second-hand market stall. Never played flute in my life. I recently started playing the altosax and had an idea of how the keys are supposed to feel and to seal and this flute, although far from perfect, seemed to be able to be of full playable capability. I watched many videos before stumbling onto this one and couldn't get a sound out of it. As soon as you explained it it completely clicked into place and I'm playing notes with ease. Another really helpful excercise is holding notes. You start at a1 and go the chromatic scale down to c1, then from a1 and go the chromatic scale up. Play every note as long and as loud as you can (or as long and as quiet as you can) and breath after every note. It helps you to control your breath duration and tone. Also helps you to figure out exact amount of breath for every note.

Merci beaucoup !

I clicked on this video because why not? It can always be helpful. But now seeing this comment section I'm actually surprised for the amount of people that needed help and genuinely wanted to learn and just couldn't get that clear sound. I always thought it was easy and only who didn't makw an effort couldn't do it because my experience with the younger players at my school was that they were simply too lazy and didn't want to do anything. Now I realize that it can actually be hard for some people specially self learners. I hope you (and we) get better and better!

I have to check my pitch to make sure I am in tune. I know when I am out of tune but need to use a tuner to check. I have a practice place that is not a constant temperature and boy does warm/hot temperatures affect the pitch of the flute. Love your videos always learning, I am working my way up the scale and am now quite confident up to the high b flat but want to get up to the C because when playing a C major scale I don't want to stop at the A or B below it.

Carved in mind. «Nothing must be extreme in embouchure.» «The important is the airstream, not the lips.» Etc. And so convincing.

Did you know that the flute is the instrument that takes the most air to play?
@kelslynn944
@kelslynn944 4 жыл бұрын
Yes because i have Bb Clarinet and i kno dat Clarinet is a low pitched instrument so i kno by the sound of the flute that flute is a high pitched instrument. I want flute so bad and alot of people ask me what im gonna do with my clarinet when I get flute i say im gona keep it so i can have multiple music talents.🎼🎵🎶🎼🎵🎶🎼🎵🎶🎼🎵🎶🎹

I joined band for middle school and I went for the fitting where you got to try all the instruments and they positioned the instrument and the person who was fitting me I asked to try the flute first and the rolled the flute down and didn’t position it correctly so I couldn’t blow it to it so I got clarinet and now I’m asking if I can switch but I have to wait another month

Mimi Rivera This is so sad. I know they mean well by trying to match people with an instrument they have a physical aptitude for, but what is really important is to connect with the personality of the instrument.

I got my flute today. Ive been a brass player for years. Im 28 decided to pick up something new to try. This flute is honestly hard to play. To any flute player i gave crap to. I apologize. This take some dedication for real. I can't wait to get a good sound from it. So far I can play one note and Barely hold it lol.

I usually play long tone, and James Galway’s warm up to keep my embouchure similar as possible as I can. Few days ago, I realized that my embouchure is too tight and not relaxed. So I am focusing on keeping my embouchure same. And taffanel and gaubert’s finger exercises!
