Definitely my favorite SMBZ fight. Without a single line of dialogue, you can just FEEL how utterly furious Mecha Sonic is.

@@xnortheast1106 He doesn't say a single word until after the fight is well underway. Unlike in other scenes, where he revels in the fear he causes, announces himself, makes demands, gives warnings, etc etc... This time he doesn't say ANYTHING at the start. He just goes for the kill immediately. Doesn't toy with either of them, doesn't gloat, he's playing for keeps because he's just THAT mad.

My favorite is the Axem Rangers fight. I agree with what you said as this one is a close second but the Axem fight was really the first one to show his true power. That he could easily remove people the heroes struggled against

And last episode he was Super Mecha Sonic. He was pissed in the end because of the embarassment. And now here he is, getting his payback one episode later. I remember shitting myself as a kid seeing him again after the previous episode, which was crazy. And he is STILL pissed about what happened one episode ago.

Honestly I still don’t get why he scrapped this series just to redo it, it’s still phenomenal work, and he could have been in ep 10 had he just continued it, and maybe just redid the fights he was unpleased with (Yoshi vs metallix was insane)

You can tell Mario really pissed off Mecha Sonic, he went straight for him first. Must be because Mario was the reason Mecha Sonic's plans were basically ruined.

Really shows how Shadow and Sonic were way beyond Mario and Luigi, and they still could barely put a fight against Mecha.

That's a little plot hole or more so problematic the reboot does have to address in the near future regarding Mario and Luigi specifically. Sonic, and especially Shadow and Mecha are being that outclasses any Mario character or villain by the unfair advantages they have with both cheer speed and Chaos Energy; Just with speed alone a Sonic character can make a Mario character kneel within mere seconds since they're not as insanely busted with anime powers as a Sonic one nor are as agile in speed. So unless the usage of power ups becomes more prevalent or Mario and Luigi are trained to be closer to their RPG counterparts to be able counter speed with defense and strategy, virtually learning to dodge anything in the spot, they're gonna get bodied just like Yoshi was; The only character CLOSE to the bullshit level of a Sonic one and was almost murdered in minutes due to lacking speed and equal fighting skill. It seems impossible but we see that later on Mario is able to go toe to toe with Mecha, even in speed, as soon as his Chaos Control/Energy is taken away from him, which means with more training he could be able to put way more fair fights against Mecha in his fighting style, if he's able to learn how to properly defend himself against a Sonic character.

Both times mario characters fought Mecha Sonic, they got caught off guard. Like Mario gets punched right at the start here, and Yoshi gets wrecked too before he starts to fight back. Mario also did well in the minus world fight and was the only one to do damage to Semi Super Mecha Sonic. I think the scaling goes Luigi < Yoshi < Mario < Sonic < Shadow < Powerup Mario/Luigi, but there’s not much between them

@@swampfire_edits8976 I'd argue they're all pretty comparable and shine in their own areas, as there's plenty of examples where Mario and Luigi are portrayed as being superior to the hedgehogs in strength, skill, etc.

@@customarymaniac4002 I am aware if of that too. I knew there was gonna Be something different. For one in the reboot version of episode two the Chaos Emerald Yoshi and Metallix fought over is the White one instead of the Red One. The White Chaos Emerald is the one from this episode in particular.

@@Arcticgod3535 Alvin did a big post on how it part was literally all filler and felt pressed to get ANYTHING out. So he wrote this in a short period. You can really tell if you critically analyze it on the plot but character wise I think it does a lot and all the jokes still hold up. So ultimately a revision I think would be in order. Otherwise can't wait to see what he does next.

This fight shows how much effort he didn't show when he fought Yoshi. If it would have been Yoshi in this fight instead of Mario and Sonic, he would have been demolished far quicker

I feel like this point is moreso a weakness of this fight rather than a deliberate decision on the part of the creator. Mecha spends a LOT of time pissing around even within this fight (Ex. Standing still before Mario attempts to hammer him, flying right into a fully charged Sonic like he doesn’t have eyes,) so I don’t really think it’s fair to say that this is prime Mecha or anything. No matter how angry he is, an EMERALD-FAVORED DUEL against a SIDE CHARACTER should never be closer than a 2-versus-1 against both of the main protagonists. Just seems kind of ridiculous.

Yoshi has unique abilities that can keep Mecha off his back. Mecha Sonic already knows all of Sonic and Shadow’s moves, and without power ups Mario is a brawler. But I don’t think Mecha ever holds back

You gotta appreciate how The Little things can Have Big Outcomes here, Given that in the Episode 6, Mario was able to Knock Mecha Off twice before getting his sh*t rocked, hence why he kept trying to keep mario away during this fight and tried to kill sonic before Mario could Interfere like he did before.

Cool design (monovisor, full mechanical look). Straight use of lethal force (missiles, machineguns, beams) - this model deserves a total respect for thinking of how to eliminate targets he was designated for. It's a bit sad that he was redesigned in second part. And it's preferable that he wouldn't speak, just doing his orders. Amazing.

No, while Shadow can put a better fight than Sonic, it isn't that extreme, remember Mecha in this scene is going all out because he is furious, Shadow would get demolished after a few minutes.

The big reason why Mario characters keep getting knocked around by Mecha in SMBZ (besides Mecha being treated as a big bad in general) is that he's specifically showing a level of brutality that Mario's villains don't regularly show. He doesn't monologue. He doesn't boast. He goes straight for the kill. Sonic is lasting longer because he's dealt with Mecha's brutality before, and he knows that if he lets his guard down for even a second, he's road kill. If you look at their fight in Yoshi Island, they were putting in equal amounts of "work" (air quotes because none of them were doing jack shit at all). You also have to take into account that Mecha was specifically furious in this fight and wasn't giving them room to breathe. I'm not saying Mario beats Sonic or vice versa because that's a can of worms I do not want to open, but I do believe there are other factors as to why Mecha dominates in most fights in this world as opposed to "Sonic beats Mario", when SMBZ never really approached that angle to my knowledge. I do believe Mario and friends would stand more of a chance if they were more prepared for the encounters with more items, especially since we know Sonic (and by extension, Shadow) is capable of using them too.
