Looks like we're back on the good timeline thanks to you guys keeping vocal about Warhammer 3 and I feel like keeping vocal can get us what we want. Races like Ind, Khuresh, Nippon among others are doable if CA feel the pressure. Let's discuss how that and how you guys have shaped Warhammer 3.

A little bit of "hopium" but you know what? I feel fairly optimistic. Cathay and Kislev weren't the plan orignally and we got them, the "daemon" factions turned to Monogod because the fans wanted it that way so why not hold out hope? If the fanbase stays vocal (respectfully of course) then stuff can change like internal roadmaps as it has before. I'm gonna keep the hopium going! I assume CA are now painfully aware of the fact that the way the handle TWWH3 from now on will directly influence the reception and financial success of a rumored WH40K or TWW1.

The Vampire Counts and Norscans need an update desperately. Southern Realms are 9 years late. Araby should have been in game 2. Ind, Kuresh and Nippon. Empire factions fleshed out, including Marianburg. Albion, Amazons, Fmir, Kurgens, Nipponese, Halflings; Moot needs to be a major settlement. Map expanded into a "globe;" add in full size northern and southern poles; fill in the four chaos realms up north (wasted space in inaccessible mountains) beyond the chaos wastes as hyper dangerous maps to play on that offer rewards. Uncompress the map so it's no such a faction sniping moshpit, their "north America" looks like garbage.

I really want to see (in the following priority): Neferata, Merchant Princes (Tilea/Estalia), Nippon, some of the Tribal factions (ones that don't take city, but aren't beastmen) then Ind and probably the rest of Cathay.

You can safely exclude Araby and replace it with Dogs of War. As much as I dislike their idea, it's the single most possible variant.

And then to tie it all together we get one massive end times update with Nagash, it would really be a nice sendoff. (even if the end times are a bit… controversial, with all the things CA are doing with chaos in TWW3, it’d be a shame to not get something like the end times)

of those, I most want Khuresh… if you are familiar with Cobol Yu and his Cathay concepts which influenced CA, you’ll understand why… especially if you see his current Brood of the Naga Queens / Hinterlands of Khuresh project

Keep in mind that none of those factions are in CA's hands. It all comes down to what GW says they can or can't do. The most recent word we have by devs on the possibility of Ind, Kuresh or others is "It's not impossible", which was a change from their previous statements of "Don't expect it". They themselves are cautiously optimistic about the possibility but don't want to make promises Games Workshop won't let them keep.

I think Southern Realms has decent odds because of the leak and because it ties into a lot of existing factions - shared units with Empire, mercenary mechanics could be ported to Ogres etc. Ind and Khuresh is still quite a punt imo.

Those landmasses will surely open up, but for factions of existing armies. Also, the Monkey King is not a 'mini racepack', but a Cathayan character. From GW's Cathayan armybook. We need like a minimum of 5-6 Lord Packs, for all those characters (and units) we're still missing. Time will be finite, your favorite army (Slaanesh) hasn't even received its DLC yet.

-open ind and khuresh -add a handful of “mercenary” units to gives us snakemen and whatever Ind would be, recruitment from landmark buildings -add already existing factions into these spaces otherwise (HEs, Beastmen, Cathay, Lizardmen, Skaven, etc).

I feel like it's just too early to be talking about race packs. They still need to wrap up the other two chaos DLCs (Slanesh and Khorne) before we're in uncharted territory. Thrones is great, but imo we'll need to see this same level of hype carry through those two if there's any hope of getting CA to convince GW to flesh out completely new races.

I'm a walking testament to games impacting real life model purchases. The first time I came into contact with 40k was through the first Dawn of War game, and a few years later I was sitting there with a Space Wolf army so large it could be fielded with the Apocalypse rule set. Then they released the new Space Wolf models which I also started buying. Get us more cool stuff for Warhammer 3, GW, and you'll see more of this happening, no doubt.

I'm very pleased with the state of The Empire at this point. Karl's campaign feels so much better than it used to. Not just the new units, but the changes to heroes, Karl himself, and the new Prestige system. My only negative is how far away my best bro Gelt is. Hoping to see Vampire Counts get some DLC attention soon. Norsca could really use it too.

Nah the gelt campaign change is huge utterly brilliant change. Add so much fun to the campaign play. He's my second empire playthrough. I'm saving Franz for my last legendary campaign for achievements

I think CA is waiting to open up Ind, Kuresh and Chaos Wastes above Cathay to simultaneously do an optimization of the turn times to make them faster (since those regions will probably add a bunch of new factions that will slow down the turn times). Which would be a double win for them because opening these regions is cool and making turn times faster (like they did in WH2) is even cooler. If they add to that a nice patch with good reworks and a solid DLC like Thrones of Decay, people would be REALLY happy.

Don't get too optimistic. They just crossed a slippery slopeine over a decade ago. They will keep pushing and prodding and eventually players will stop fighting back. They just went too far too fast and that was too much for the player base conditioned to take abuse at a slower pace.

@@Dankest-JediHe's not wrong. Look at Total War. Look at Overwatch or most of the Triple A studio over the last decade. Big change made too fast has backlash. Gradual change conditions people to accept less and less and less overtime. Sympathy and kindness is given to developers for incompetence or malice. Games were treated with higher standards and respect. Now that's not the standard. It's a pleasant rarity. Voting with your wallet means nothing because while you may have the moral victory of not contributing to the problem. There's a million more that will in your place because the average consumer has no standards or self control. Just consume and wait for next product. No questions asked and sometimes defending said product for corporation that views them as subhuman.

If for no other reason, Ind and Kuresh need to exist for Cathay to have regional rivals. That side of the map needs to be contested in some way in order for it to be interesting. Not to mention how damn cool those two factions could be.

I know someone is working on a pretty nippon mod. Hes making all his own models and has a general sub plot setup for the legendary lords. Pretty cool stuff!

I have an idea for the Southern Realms A Dogs of War dlc, with it's own Dogs of War culture group, including Tilea, Estalia, Border Princes, New World Colonies and Araby. They have different armies, with a smaller scope than say, the Empire, and a lot of renown mercanary units, shared among all of them. And those mercenary companies are paid upfront, but have no upkeep, and serve you for the duration of the contract. And the different factions can compete to see who pays them more to go with them. They would also have loyalties, making them favor service certain factions. Anyone can partake in this recruitment, but the DoW factions have an increased loyalty, or their money is worth more (they have a discount) as their armies are based around them mercs. The DoW factions can have only one LL each, and some seudo LH in the form of the famous Merc captains. It would still be 5 LL. Or 4 if you decide to make Araby it's own, more separate thing. If Araby is its own thing, I have two lords in mind, one more Jaffar like, and another more desert warrior, or Fremen style. And if you want a third, then a Tomb King fanboy. This is my idea, I hope someone at CA does watch your vids and checks it out!

The most complicated thing about Dogs of War is that they are three layers of content: 1. Southern Realms (Estalia, Tilea and Border Princes). 2. Mercenary races (Amazons, Halflings, Arabia and Albion). 3. Mercenary recruitment system (partially implemented with the ogre mercenaries). All this seasoned with the difficulty of deciding which characters will be the representatives of the faction since there are many characters within Dogs of War and they all offer very different things...

Dogs of War Araby Nippon Ind Kuresh The Moot Sartosa rework Mousillon Boris Todbringer Hobgoblins Nagash That's what I am looking forward to. They put all of that in and I will consider Warhammer Total War to be complete. Anything else will just be icing on the extra thicc wedding cake, namely bugfixes, performance improvements and code cleanup.

Don't forget Albion and the Amazons, Albion can be barbarians and fimir with Fenbeasts, giants and druids mixed in with some cthulhu-esque monstrosities, Amazons have units too like the Jaguar and Eagle warriors and could have lizardmen allies and im sure you could make up some stuff there, there is also that aquatic fishmen race that they obscurely mention in some books that have no units at all that you could work with. The only thing i couldn't see them doing is the Pygmies unless that had a massive rework to seem non racist and make it seem like the kingdoms of Ethiopia or Mali during their prime.

@@riccardir13 I would actually like to see them rework them in all honesty. Yeah definitely rework them COMPLETELY to make them not racist (One idea was to turn them into Incan Halflings that rode Cold Ones, which is pretty cool.), But it'd be neat to just see more Halflings across the world in general, especially ones that aren't Vassals like The Moot.

Yeah yeah Ind, Khuresh, Nippon all that landmass would be nice. But I just need more Norscan stuff and at least one more Khorne DLC and I'd be happy. Wukong would be cool as well, but that's basically a shoo-in. So I want things that most people aren't actively talking about.

- gorfang maneater leaked recently - borgio & lucrezia leaked in file during SOD debacle - tigermen animator leaked during SOD "2.0" - still norsca rework promised officially - still no new DLC for VC since WH1 - still geomantic web rework promised officially - still Slaanesh & Khorne to come too - Cathay MK, Li Dao, Yin-Yin at minimum ... => LOT of contents and DLC incoming, thats pretty sure, just a matter of time wait & see

It makes sense for some kind of End Times scenario in WH3 because that's how WH1 started out; with the Chaos invasion by Archaon acting as the conclusion of that campaign. I just hope it's not the actual End Times setup with the Auric Bastion and all the associated weirdness.

Round 2 now that ive watched the video. You should do a community poll. Maybe youtube doesnt allow enough categories but id be curious to see the data from "who would you want the most, ind, kuresh, nippon, araby, dow southern realms, albion, fimir, fishpeople, etc"

My hope tier list of likelihood/timeline is: 1. Slaanesh and Khorne paired with (likely) High Elves/Dark Elves and Norsca/Ogres, respectively 2. Monkey King (could also be paired with Ogres) 3. Dogs of War (utilizing existing assets) including Albion units 4. Lizardmen update and Khuresh 5. Ind and/or Araby 6. End times (Vampires, Nagash, Skaven?) I think this would be the absolute best. I can't imagine a better scenario personally. I don't see a universe where Nippon happens and I don't think there's much more content outside these packs.

This is great and I love looking to the future. My one biggest hope for the future past new lords/units/factions is more towards the end of the life of the game. I would LOVE if once they're done adding in lords that the would do fly overs for the immortal empire campaign starts like WH2 did. I understand not having them now because so much can change but once everything is put in its final place, it would make the start of a campaign feel a lot better than a short zoom in to your legendary lord.

Araby not happening because the ( West ) bombing the piss out of Mideast ... it's basically the Ottomans and Turkey 🇹🇷 is all over the place... Nippon is probably Ghost 👻 project because by the time they could release it ( Total War WW1 and Total War Warhammer 40Dk ) So [ Kingdoms IND ] and the Snake 🐍 race are probably the last Two race packs

I am still surprised at all that empty space on the top right corner of the IE map. It's just mountains. Meanwhile Cathay is getting pretty stuffed and there are apparently 2 more Dragon Children to be introduced... 3 with the one that went missing in Norsca. It's overly optimistic, but maybe Cathay will be made a bit bigger in the future?

What makes me mad is all the time that we have lost waiting for CA to makes things right, we can see that with warriors of chaos, Edgy dawi with the fix of shadows of change and now with this new DLC of thrones, they can do it right, I hope they can keep supporting the devs of TWWH3 because I want that map full, modders will give it to us first but I hope CA can go back to the way they were in TWWH2.

question. does tww3 take place after the monkey king's ule over cathay? like would the campaign be about taking it over again maybe? alternatively though shouldn't we get monkey king after kuresh or ind? given that is who he was left to deal with by the dragon siblings? Also on another hand maybe we should get Li Dao alongside monkey king as a rivalry situation? (like a more cat and mouse campaign?) or would it be better they are allies since Li Dao is known to recruit monkey king warriors to defend against karesh and Ind? Like theres so many different ways he could be put in. and i have to believe Li Dao has to accompany him however it is

Im probably in the minority but of rather have CA focus on established races for DLC before introducing any new race packs For example, id like to see: Norsca/Tribes of the North DLC Empire/Ulric DLC Empire/Halfling DLC Skaven/Thanquol DLC Vampire counts/Neferata DLC Vampire counts/Zacherias DLC Cathay/Monkey King DLC Slaanesh and Khorne monogod DLC Lizardmen rework Vampire Coast/Cathayan vampires? DLC etc… Theres also the Dogs of War and Nagash… so i dont figure we will see Ind or Kuresh race packs until off of that is done..

Back in the day, on the TT, would/could you field the Dogs of War as a full army or was it always a merc supplement to other armies?

The way that CA incorporated the new missile block mechanics and the dwarven shield wall really makes me think that we get something like pike and short formations, which would be absolutely amazing.

dogs of war horde faction that can recruit from whatever proince they are in, maybe needing positive realtions or military access or something to do it, or you need a contract to recruit but you also need to help them with an enemy. obviously i have no idea if they could implement something like that but it would make something along those lines would be a cool way to implement mercs.

Maybe if they can't add the full Faction add Mercenary outposts for Araby, Ind, Nipon etc so an area where you can go to hire the region specific units, kind of like how the Ogres worked in Warhammer 2 if they have to delay a full dlc this could also be a way to get people hyped for it.

i feel like with the old world too like it makes so much sense for the tomb kings new additions to be added to wh3 as a dlc with the croc dragon and such. Lore wise since they are immortal and stuff it should fit just fine right since their units dont exactly change? i feel like thats a low hanging fruit as an excuse for a tomb kings dlc along with their other characters and stuff, same could be said for other ancient or time independent races like Woc, elf factions, undead etc

Since a team of modders can do entire races for free, it's legitimately impossible for an actual studio to pass up such an opportunity to make so much money, I think.

The thing is I’d rather they focus on finishing all the other races first. As someone who isn’t a lore person Araby, Ind, Khuresh and Nippon don’t mean anything to me, I obviously want the areas of ind and khuresh fully implemented but the actual races won’t really do anything for me personally. Sure they sound interesting and would obviously add some cool new things to the game. But surely people want a norsca rework before a new race that has fairly limited lore to go off of.

As far as map expansions go i've always thought that Naggarond/Naggaroth whatever its name is, was always a little too thin. I feel like if CA expanded the map westward just a little bit they could make that continent a little thicker and give it more place space for maybe some more factions there, also itd be nice to actually be able to sail along its western coast or traverse some of those islands.

I think they will expand the map in all directions. So out increase to hear for nipon, out increase south out, out increase west out and out increase north out. Because you can see how the AI goes off the map sometimes when you meet them. Then we can probably expect that there will be a new lord for all races within the 3 years, but new units and heroes.

I think you're right on the nose that this will be cross-promoted with The Old World mini releases. I'd love to see Dogs of War and Estalia as their own factions in the future!

I really hope for a long support, and lots of DLC-Factions. There are so many possible factions; some larger ones like Ind, Kuresh, Nippon , Hogoblin Khanates and smaller ones like Amazons, Araby, Tilea, Estalia. And even though very unlikely, I would love to see the immortal map expanded with more provinces and minor factions added between the currently existing ones. I wouldn't even care about the longer end turn times. And if all the previous storys were optionally added to immortal empires and some were created for the wh1 races i wouldn't even mind to pay for that.

Nathan at some point I hope you do a video on what Norsca could add in a lord pack because it's the only game 1 race not to get any DLC which is a shame because it has plenty of potential: Viktus, Bondsmen, Whalers, Cursed Ettns, Spined Chaos Beasts, Dread Maws, Basilisks, the remaining Fimirs, etc. They'd be a perfect matchup with Kislev.

I could see an old world mini game/campaign being tossed over to CA Sophia once the Arcane Journals are out and all the major characters are revealed. Something like the Warhammer 1 map, but with Khemri too and maybe some of Ulthuan.

One way or another something needs to fill the Ind, Khuresh and the wastes above Cathay. Let’s hope we can actually get Ind and the Snakemen in those areas.

I think alot of the rumors about this series winding down DLC was due to CA and Sega not really understanding that SoC's low sales were due to bad value and not due to a lack of interest in more DLC. ToD having a much better performance might have made them realize that this game will print money for years to come so long as the DLC have good value. I myself would love a Nippon race pack.

I'd much rather they fill-in/rework the factions we already have before they add new ones. Ind and Kush can get in line way behind the dozen or so factions we already have that haven't seen a WH3 dlc yet.

I think they should add in the campaigns from 1 and 2. Vortex with the new additions would be fun, or revamp those mini campaigns.

Somewhat related to your idea, but do you think it is possible that CA would introduce additional campaign maps down the line? For example an Albion campaign map with say 600 settlements (seize matters). This would allow the introduction of new smaller races (there is no way Albion otherwise could be introduced and the same could be said for a number of other smaller or more localized races such as the amazons, halflings, Nippon or a Fimir-main race) and new lords without overcrowding the Immortal Empires map (where they might become available through a quest chain) Albion for example could easily hold most if not all races from the first 2 games (with the possible exceptions of the lizardmen and tomb kings) and there is room for most current factions of the third game (only Kislev and Kathay seem too insular to me as even the chorfs have a pirate lord). true most of these factions would either be invaders, pirates or colonies rather than true natives, but still. Having more (large) campaign maps could extend the life of the game somewhat, give a few more potential dlc and allow for additional experiments which they won't want to test in their flagship campaign.

Well. I wouldn't mind if End of Times could be really big DLc in form of warhammer 3.5 which unifies some mechanics that could be given to another factions like trade routes, in race diplomacy, underground wars, hell maybe even overhauling those by merging existing giving it to all races, with some additional thing specific for each race and their lords.

Best case scenario in my opinion would be CA adding three new DLC choices (like ToD $9.99 per race). Coincide the DLC release with a numbered patch release with access to the new expanded Immortal Empires map with the additional regions. We know with mods the map can be expanded. Add a FLC expanded map Lord and you have a winning combination. Use the opportunity for some race updates as some Lord's could be moved out to the expanded regions with great story/lore (Gelt with Cathay, etc). My first pick, Teclis could use some love and a new home with lore/story.

I read from the internet that the next DLC will be back to Lord vs Lord again? But I really wish they could keep the DLC format for the next 2 DLC to be same as SoC and ToD. One chaos god and 2 other Races, cause we still have 2 chaos gods left, Khorne and Slaanesh DLC. Also is it true that after ToD, we only have like 6 DLC left?

One thing I've been saying is that a Dogs of War faction could be the answer if they can't make whole armies of more obscure factions (Like the Amazons and Albion giants). Since the DOWs are a hodge-podge of various different races joining as mercenary companies, such units could be used as special unique units for DOWs. And if they prove popular enough and they can, they can be extended from there (like just because they put Ind units in a DOW faction before an actual Ind pack doesn't lock out Ind itself should they decide to do it after)

If the dogs of war shows up, I wonder how they will handle the tilean mercenary pikemen. Surely devastating to infantry and cavalry but maybe not so much on monster units. If rumors are true about Araby, I wonder how they will make it better than the Araby faction mod. Tough luck, I guess.

Honestly, Estalia Tilea and the Border princes would definitely increase the game's sales. The empire is the most popular faction, so if other human factions resembling other cultures appeared, people would definitely want to play fantasy factions resembling countries from the real world. At least until Medieval 3 is released. ;/
