So when Rimworld Ideologies came out, it turns out a lot of 'exploitable' bugs were created when you combine it with the Royalty DLC. Time to break the game in under a year and hitch a ride on the Stellarch's magic jay-jay the jet plane to escape.

The only thing I'd expect to be patched is being able to start Royal Ascent through a slave count and maybe the using their favors on world map. You should still be able to start it if you recruit them and if you have a pawn with Word of Trust you could smash that 106 resistance in about a week, faster if you change one of the rituals to psyfocus gain but I dont know if that would be worth it. So even after a patch this should remain relevant with only minor tweaks.

@@Burger19985 shitty comparison, but decent argument Complaining about bugs, after you set up the whole scenario abuse them to their maximum potential, is kinda silly. In Rimworld you have control over most of your actions, unless the problem is on the AI's side I don't see any point in "making it balanced". You can always just not do that stuff

I enjoy adding a “cooked” drug policy for annoying nobles coming to stay, 2x flake per day, no sleep and all the crappy jobs all-day every day. They leave on max mood too :D

High crafting skill for stone blocks doesn´t matter. It depends on pawn´s global workspeed, which is affected by traits such as neurotic or hard worker.

the main defense i have for ideology is that it is clearly a roleplay tool, not something for people to min-max the shit out of. The idea, at least to me, is that _you_ are responsible for balancing it by having both positive and negative rules and conditions for the colony you want to build. Stuff having absurd bonuses is great, it allows me to get away with equally absurd bullshit requirements and negative penalties because i chose role play over being effective. the biggest thing to come out of Ideology for me is that i don't spend half my playtime manipulating things to fit the theme, both by legit means and through debug commands, the ideology does that for me and i can actually just play the game and build the colony i want inside those constraints.

I really appreciate the way Ideology is built as a storytelling tool that trusts the player. I’ve never once felt my games were too easy with it because I’m not using it in a way to win, I’m using it to enrich the story. And for people who like to break the game, as it were, they can have fun with it too as many videos show! But I just like that you largely get to make your own restrictions instead of adhering to some inherent “balance”

Dont get me wrong, I laughed my ass off during this video, but… When you add 6 different parties and farm goodwill it feelt like a bit much. Like, you can do a custom start and begin with 100000 silver. Is this an exploit? Yes, but it only became one when you decided to use it that way

I think making it so you can only have one ritual of one type (so only one party) and mby limiting the relations bonus to only one ritual. And obv making the royals will higher

@UNIDENTIFIEDACCOUNT none it's literally a single player story generator... it's not like... a competitive gaming experience... rimworlds just a big sandbox in which you can explore ideas... So... not being able to choose precepts or memes... or rituals just seems insane... Don't take away choices from people who want to tell THEIR story... just add in a randomizer for the people that can't or don't know what kind of story they want to tell.....

@UNIDENTIFIEDACCOUNT none it does... u can choose in the settings of the game to give every colonist specific traits to start with... have you ever even opened up Scenario Editor? You can make everyone as OP as you want... you can give them all faster speed at doing anything... faster learning speed... smaller hunger rates... you can choose what traits to give them.... That IS the spirit of the game... And you CAN randomize ideologies... when you go into the ideologies, click one of the premade ones... randomize that... use it... and have a blast on your wild ride... Me I'm different... I got my plans and I wanna be able to see them... that's why I play Rimworld to begin with Also I've never used meta stuff.. again... cuz it's not a game... the way I choose how to play is like... Hmmm I'm playing Skyrim... but wouldn't it be cool if the Falmer came out of their caves and got revenge on the surface world? So where do I go? Rimworld... Or after watching Starship Troopers again..... damn... imagine if the spiders were actually smart and banded together to take over Earth... boom Rimworld... Or... damn... I had a shit day... let's go start idk... a pot farm... and be fcking hippies... Or raise a bunch of devil sheep to sacrifice to our elder god so he can turn them into monsters that eat people... Not really. That's the point of Rimworld's difficulty settings, storytellers, and mods. The base game mechanics aren't supposed to force you to make choices in order to balance the difficulty yourself during play. This is like a TTRPG where the dices are replaced by values chosen by the players and telling them: "the game mechanics are not broken, you just have to chose to make critical failures, sometimes, in order to make it fun".

Yeah, I think Tynan has already started the process of replacing instantly-placeable things with physical structures by replacing the caravan spot with a caravan post. I can easily see the same thing happening to sleeping spots and animal spots, where they become a structure like graves that require a token amount of work to construct, but don't require resources.

@@Comradez Although, the major downside that I see for that is that you can't slap down a quick sleeping spot in a pinch. Yeah, you can make one, but now you need a colonist to actually go to where you want to place it. Let's say your prison is full and you want to place more prisoners in there. Now you have to have a colonist go to have a colonist walk back to the prison and build sleeping spots for every new prisoner before you can start hauling them back to base. Similar situation for medical beds. What if most of your colonists are down and the remaining ones don't do construction? Then we can't just slap temporary medical sleeping spots in the hospital room. Instead of changing how sleeping spots are constructed, why not just change the behavior around sleeping spots and similar constructs? Like, they can't be constructed on top of existing blueprints or in-progress blueprints, and raiders ignore these buildings.

@@Penguinmanereikel I mean if you want challenge, don't use exploits that remove challenge? I played thousands of hours without abusing sleeping spots. I think if you want to just break the game with something you got to go out of your way to abuse... you may as well turn dev mode on. Because both are essentially cheats. Fixing it would be pointless since many people have mods that add more spots... and they will very likely use the old way because for them there's no reason to change it. They're here to just add content to the game not to balance for min/max tryhards.

i actually like these sieges to build me mortars and mod artillery, so i let them build a bit and then cap a few with snipers so they come to get their asses handed to them

Just a suggestion since we are on this topic - there's something similar in vanilla that gives HUGE advantage to the player, and it really pisses me off to see a full-priced game have exploits like this: when you start a new game and select a storyteller, there's a difficulty level called "custom", and when you select that, you can LITERALLY lower all threats levels to 0% and you can turn off all the threats completely!!!!! LIKE WAAAAAAAT? literally everything is in front of your face to get exploited! How's that acceptable Tynan? Not to mention that silly button called "Turn on Dev Mode" in your menu, They LITERALLY allowed cheating dude!

You can spawn with almost whatever the hell you like and ensure that all your colonists start with certain traits in the scenario editor, it was never really supposed to be balanced.

What you are saying is interesting, how you say it is irritating. Falsetto voices and the like... it might be your style etc. and so be it, but I found it annoying and stopped watching. My two cents worth.

Bruh... how can you care about balance in a Storyteller that you design and take part in yourself... if it's not balanced... it's because you made it not balanced... if it's dull idk... do something funner... The point is... you do... what you think is fun... that's it... there's no rules... it ain't just "a game"... look at it as an empty journal... or a blank screenplay... not... a "game" and tell the stories YOU want... You'll fall in love with all the flare and options the DLCs add into those stories after that

KZfaq please give us a way to block content creators so we dont see them in our search results. Like come on.. I do not want to watch a Gen Z kid over zooming constantly when I search Rimworld.
