Some take aways from this video: - Stabilization of the hair loss process starts immediately after taking the first pill! DHT is reduced in hours. - 4 to 6 Months. That's the time it takes to see improvement. - A hair that falls off today doesn't grow for another 3 months - When a hair undergoes miniaturization over 50% of the hairs thickness, it won't be able to grow back, just to maintain its current growth - 16% of patients experience significant improvement over 1 yr, but 36% over 2 yrs. Patience is key. - The main benefit of finasteride is stabilization of male pattern hair loss. Thickening is a bonus. - There are no real areas of more effectiveness (front, crown...) for finasteride, that's a myth. Hair will get best results in areas where the thinning process is less prominent. - The two major classes of medical treatment for male pattern baldness are blockers (fin) and stimulators (minoxidil). The key is the blocking (fin).

I'm 28 and noticed a few weeks ago my hairline at my forehead looked thin. Caught this early and started taking Finasteride. Talked to my Dermatologist and he said realistically you'll restrengthen what currently exists. I'm fortunate that I haven't lost much but the name of the game is that if you want to keep your hair then you need to get in front of the issue as soon as possible. I'm okay with thinner hair and stopping the damage - it was naturally thicker than what I wanted. This is a highly informative show and it tells you a lot about Australian healthcare vs. the US. It's amazing how better outcomes can be achieved when marketing and profits come second to numbers, science, and the patient's well-being

Don't listen to these people who are clearly paid/get commission from Big Pharma to push Finasteride. Finasteride has permanent side effects for many people that are irreversible. Their studies don't mean shit because they were mainly funded By Big Pharma and many scientists and regulatory members of FDA were bought off. Their positive results were highly false-positively inflated. Way more people have reported worsening of hairloss and side effects on Finasteride than they advertise. These people along with many others are clearly bought off and are providing marketing for Finasteride obviously. Stay away from Finasteride whatever you do !!!!!

@@saellenx3528 So again, you're believing the same studies that claim that Finasteride side effects only occur in under 10% of users as the Gospel Truth from the same studies that omit negative findings and deflate the negative side effects rate, which does not make any logical sense. Those studies lose integrity due to that, and it wouldnt be a stretch to believe they'd also falsely inflate "positive results" when they've already commited biasness/progaganda and probably corruption/fraud. These studies that are pro-Finasteride that are supposedly "independent studies on Finasteride" are usually just corrupt studies that are funded secretly by Big Pharma/Merck with bought off scientists and regulatory board members to portray Finasteride in a positive light. It's simple Business 101 and marketing. Go to any major hair loss forum that is worthy of respect (not reddit lol) on the internet and you will see a phletora of people say they either experienced side effects on Finasteride or are scared to use it because they know people who actually had side effects. I wouldn't believe studies that make a product look only good, even if theres more of these studies - it's actually logical that Finasteride would have more pro-Finasteride studies that paint it in a positive light than negative studies because Big Pharma has billions of dollars and that comes with large resources and marketing power to portray Finasteride in a positive light (falsely). They've also had a head start for at least a decade to portray Finasteride in a positive light, but as of 2011, exponentially more and more studies are showing how dangerous Finasteride actually is as opposed to what was advertised and how many more people are speaking out about their side effects. Money is power however, and there's corruption in every industry or government in the world so as to why some people think the pharmaceutical industry isn't corrupt and isn't ruled by money, is ludicrous. I would definitely choose to believe the studies that are against Finasteride especially when there's so many studies that speak highly negative against Finasteride. There's several websites talking negative about Finasterides side effects now, there's also a literal organization called Post Finasteride Syndrome Organization that has almost 100 000 users that are regular on its website that is used for those that experience persistent/permanent side effects from Finasteride. There were also over 1000 law suits against Merck (which manufacturers Propecia) which paid out $4.3 million. If they were innocent they wouldn't have had to pay anything out to the sufferers of Finasteride. So that says a lot. Merck was found to omit side effects and lower the rate of side effects which is why they got sued. Also, some people died from Finasteride due to the permanent hormonal imbalances it caused which lead to things like severe depression. Mental side effects of Finasteride are real. These things are not small issues like someone just forgot to publish the full side effects report. People had to get paid off and bribed to be quiet to allow such to happen. Which is why I say even the FDA is corrupt to allow the omittance of certain side effects. Finasteride and Propecia have far too many scars for anyone to believe their honest and have integrity. Once again, if they can falsely deflate the % of negative side effects experienced by users and if they can omit side effects in their publishing reports/studies, it's obvious they'd also falsely inflate "positive results". With so many scars against the product it would be delusional to believe half the things Merck or other studies say that only praise Finasteride. Yes, it's unfortunate that there are lack of better *FDA approved* treatments for Hairloss other than Finasteride currently, but there's other alternatives which is why I always recommend people try the safer stuff first. If and only if they have no success they can try Finasteride as a last resort, and only if their hairloss is really aggressive. Also, they are working on getting Finasteride banned, unfortunately its a lengthy process and we're in a Pandemic so theres a huge backlog to work through. The FDA is corrupt once again and ruled by money. That's the only reason Finasteride has been around this long with all the side effects.

Currently no sideeffects for me on both just a bit of white flakes on my head but i always had them so... my thin hair on the front and on the back of my crown starting to come out. Defenitly a Change. Also before usage i had around 10 to 20 hairs when i go through my hair now i have 2-5.. even with a bit of pulling which is insane... I have been taking Minoxidil and Finasteride since the start of the year and honestly, the results for me have been astonishing! My receding hair has stopped completely, and even started to grow back! All the hair I have is thicker and looks in better condition. The pigment of my hair shaft is darker, they are more dense and thicker! I did a whole video about my experience after 6 months of treatment and I can't wait to see what it will be like after a year! Thanks for giving me the courage to start Finasteride!

I'm 24 and I started fina 30 days ago. My temples lost a bit, and my hairs started to get thin so 4 years ago I started minox 2% and I got some results, I wanted more so early 2019 I started dermarolling + minox 5%, I saw a significant result on the thickness and quality. But I want more results, I don't want to truly believe it but I feel like minox 5 + derma gave me some regrowth on the balding spot, I'm sure that I see these baby hairs slowly growing bigger but I refuse to believe it, kinda weird but yeah, I have the hope that fina increases that point but I'm unable to be really optimistic about it. But after 30 days I start to see a difference, the first two weeks, I was loosing like 200 hair per day against ~20 before the first pill despite a little quality raise (It was really terrible for me because I never lost as much, my hands was full of hairs when applying minox, I was dreaming about it as well) Few days ago it stopped, I feel my scalp "different" and the quality of my hairs is increasing as well. This is quite relieving and I hope it keeps up on that (hair)line.

I'm not losing any hair yet but I am aware that it's better to catch this while it's in the early stages

Hi, I’m taking Finasteride every other day for the last year. I should be starting IVF in roughly 4 months no exact date yet. Dr Russell said to stop taking 1 month before conceiving ‘so it’s out of the system’ and Dr Vikram said to stop a few months then said a few weeks before conceiving. From what I’ve read the sperm cycle is like 3 months so shouldn’t I abstain for 3 months before an ivf date to make sure it is out of the system

Would dutasteride 3x/weekly be more effective theoretically than finasteride daily? Currently being prescribed dutasteride but feel maybe a more frequent dose of fin would be better
@rodrigopineiro777
@rodrigopineiro777 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, they recommend 3x/weekly of fin, so with dutas you should not need more. The difference between 3x and everyday is not significant in most cases, and dutas has a really stronger half-life and is a stronger drug than fin, so 3x should be fine.

At 3:30 of this video you say a hair that falls out today doesn't grown back for another 3 months. This has been your experience and your understanding as hair specialists? If true, this is encouraging for me because I've been taking Dutasteride for 3 months and it's clearly induced accelerated shedding. I thought all the shed hairs may be lost forever but hopeful that at least some of the hair will grow back (of course I probably lost some because they're too thin to recover). I spoke with another doctor and she said there should be a new hair coming up through the scalp immediately behind the shed hair with no delay, but from what I hear you saying, is that there IS a delay from shed to a new hair coming through. I'm little suspect of her opinion. Great stuff Dr.'s. I've seen all your videos.

As for nuking DHT, no thanks. That's why I got of Dut after 3 months. Too heavy for my body.Fin has created a DHT suppression ratio that my body likes much better. Why would one take 1mg every other day instead of 0.5mg per day? The dosage is almost identical on a weekly basis (3mg vs 3.5mg), but it seems that 0.5mg per day would be much more effective at keeping DHT levels consistently low as opposed to 1mg every other day which would have DHT start increasing on the day off. Could you please explain?
@TheHairLossShow
@TheHairLossShow 4 жыл бұрын
Two fold reasoning. 1. The tablet comes in a 1mg formulation. To get 0.5mg, you either need to get it specially compounded or cut it up into half - not a huge hassle, I agree. 2. The effect of the drug on the 5AR enzyme lasts longer than a day (at a dose of 1mg). Hence daily dosing is not necessarily required. That said, 0.5mg per day is a perfectly reasonable dose.
@dutchcowboi
@dutchcowboi 4 жыл бұрын
@@TheHairLossShow Thank you. A seperate question: why would anyone take 1mg daily if 0.5mg (or even 0.25mg) daily is shown to decrease serum DHT 95% as effectively, considering the lower dosage might significantly decrease chances of adverse side effects?

I still got hairs everywhere but they're falling very fast, the thing that hapened is that they were miniaturasing during the previous year withtout a noticable fall or density diminution and then they sudently started to fall almost everywhere on my scalp. So i went from full hair head to nearly bald (actualy not but may be bald in 2 month at this rate XD) in about 4-5 month and i noticed the intense shed only 2-3 month ago, i was wondering why and now i realize that most of my hair are very thin i think about 50% or less compared to my previous hair (i could find some old hair to do the camparaison). So is it worth trying finasteride at that point ? because i still have enough hair to make the baldnes nearly invisible but they're falling from everywhere and already are 50% thiner than they used to almost everywhere...
