That is probably the best, most functional cart build I've seen on here. I just purchased a gas cart that my 10yo son and I will be tearing down and rebuilding this winter. This video was very inspirational.

That is the most functional cart I’ve ever seen! Awesome build. Couple questions… what did you use for the rear axle stabilizer links? Also noticed that you are a fan of the same exact sunglasses that I own. They’re fantastic for sun screening surface area from the sun, however I’m experiencing the same problem you had with them not being very secure while wearing them over my eyes or even on top of my head. What did you use on the frame sides to make them stay on your head better? I’m always afraid that mine are going to fall off. Thanks for your time.
@TheHandyHunter
@TheHandyHunter 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Randy, I used 1/4in axle tabs that I bought off Ebay to build the links. Let me know if you need a link to them on Ebay. As far as the glasses, I love them but they slide off easily. I found some sunglass holders at the fishing store that had the sticky rubber tubes that you slide up on your tips and then throw over your neck. I cut them off and used them for grippers and they work great. Now I can’t find those style holders anywhere! Need to replace my current ones. You can also use heat shrink tubes but they aren’t very sticky. Need the real sticky rubber and they are hard to find. Funny thing is that I was at Basspro the other day and they guy at the sunglass counter asked me where I got my grippers! Someone needs to sell these things!!! Thanks for watching!

Hello sir, we have been building my nieces cart very slowly and honestly not to clean meaning my wiring and mounts were not dialed but I recently broke it down and have been building clean back up, it is 1994 EZGO gas workhorse. But i was searching golf carts here on KZfaq and we saw this, so I showed her your deer plot vids too, she said very cool. All that being said great cart, impressive upgrades, I'm going to use your overhead lighting here in next few days and in future copy your front end very smart, thanks for the video, very informative.
@TheHandyHunter
@TheHandyHunter 7 жыл бұрын
Hi John, sounds like you got one of those fun projects going on! If I had it all to do all over again I would probably go with EZ Go because they have metal frames instead of aluminum. Club Car frames are made of aluminum which require a TIG welder and I only have a MIG. Being able to weld directly to the frame is a big plus with the EZ Go's. I had to build a bracket that bolted on to the front end and then welded the A-Arms to the bracket. Good luck with your project. I'm sure your niece is going to love it!

48v to 12v inverters and fuse panels are cheap. Running stuff off individual batteries will kill those batteries faster than the other batteries.

True! But 12v regulators won’t run a winch. I’ve burned through several and the one I have now won’t work. It will run everything else just not the winch. I have lithium batteries now so I have to run a regulator. Thanks!

Great cart, I’m inspired! I added a lift/brush guard/lights to mine last year. Upgrading the controller is next. Two questions, 1) Who rebuilt the engine? 2) Do you see the need for 4-wheel drive, or does the Alltrax controller get you out of all the jams?
@TheHandyHunter
@TheHandyHunter 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael! Thanks for your questions. To answer your first question, Plum Quick Motors rebuilt mine. I called them to get a new motor and they talked me into upgrading the one I had (saved me a lot of money!). Check out their website and you'll see their "Bandit" upgrade. Honest and knowledgeable guys...I think I spoke with Rick 803-548-7205. To answer your second question, I personally don't need 4WD because I have a winch. If I get stuck I can just winch it out. If you are going to get stuck in open mud holes with no trees around then 4WD will definitely help. My Alltrax is plenty strong for pulling trailers, hauling loads, etc. It will even pull about a 1,000lbs of firewood on a trailer. If you've never upgraded your controller before then you are going to be impressed with the additional power/torque. Let me know if you have any further questions. Enjoy your project!

Did some research and found out that lithium ion batteries aren’t the best choice in cold weather applications such as those you might encounter on your farm. @TheHandyHunter 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Brian...glad you like the cart and thanks for the comments! This is a big fabrication project. As you may know, Club Car frames are aluminum which forces you to fabricate a "bolt on" suspension for the front and back. Without knowing your fabrication ability it's kind of hard to say where to start. Jake's lift kit's makes a long arm travel for the front that bolts on but it's a little pricey (and after building my own I now know why!). You can find the Jake's bolt on here...www.jakesliftkits.com/LiftKit/lift-kits/300408. As for the rear, it is strictly a custom fabrication project which depends on your ability and tools. I used Polaris ATV shocks on the front and back that I bought off of Ebay. Glad to help you out and feel free to email me at TheHandyHunter2017@gmail.com if I can answer any questions. Sure rides good now so it was worth all the work! Thanks for tuning in to our channel!

Good chance you are going to ruin your batteries by pulling power to all the lights and winch from just two batteries in your battery pack. When you do that you are draining those two batteries more than the rest. When your charger tries to charge your entire battery pack it has to over charge the other batteries to get the 2 batteries your using for your lights to a charged level. That can cause damage to the rest of your batteries. You need a 48v to 12v reducer which spreads the load of the lights and winch across the entire pack. That way your entire pack drains and charges evenly.

Jace Ford Hi Jace! I totally agree with all your comments. It's usually not good to drain one/two batteries over the rest of the pack. I had plans of installing a 12volt regulator that could carry the amps until I saw how expensive they were. I decided to risk it and still got 8 years out of the pack. I don't run the lights and winch that much so that probably helps. Thanks for your comment...great suggestion!

hey man love the cart! some of these things I need to do to mine. I live in a city that has golf cart paths leading to everywhere in the city. the paths are beat tho so carts take beatings on em. what suspension do you recommend? Also, what brand of batteries do you recommend for a 36v daily driver golf cart? my son drives to school and back plus many other places. Thanks have a good one
@TheHandyHunter
@TheHandyHunter 6 жыл бұрын
Mr. Cox Hi there! I've always used Trojan batteries with great success but there are other good batteries out there as well. As far as suspension goes it depends on your ability to custom build your own. Jake's lift kits makes some bolt on long travel kits for the front of some carts. The back has to be custom built if building a 4 link suspension like mine. I will be posting a new video in a few days showing details of my suspension while I have it torn down in the shop so stay tuned! Let me know if I can be of further help.

Love your channel. Any chance you could tell me where you got that custom roof and round tube support frame? Is it custom built? Any chance if it is you could do a more detailed quick video about it?
@TheHandyHunter
@TheHandyHunter 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks David! The frame is all custom and built out of emt piping from home depot. I used a hand pipe bender (also from home depot) to make all the bends and then welded it together. I then bought a used yamaha top and bolted it on. I’ll try to do a short video soon and walk through how I built the rack. Let me know if you have questions. Good luck!

Im currently rebuilding an older cart and is my 1st golf cart project. I have a question for you. If your running your LED lights off of 16 volts Im assuming you are running from 2 cells in series. When running your lights is there a noticeable difference in those 2 cells draining faster? If they do drain faster does it affect the health of the cells when charging and recharging all 6 cells? Thank you for the video and info!

Hi Artie, optimally you want a 12reg to run all accesories through but getting a good one with enough amps can get a little pricey. I have several sets of lights so I put them on different batteries so they all kind of drain down equally. LEDs don’t pull near the power that hologens do so that makes it easier. The downside, like you said, is if you pull down one battery more than others you can cook the other batteries trying to get that one back up. Hope that helps! Good luck...they are fun projects!

Man awesome. I'm surprised how much torque it looks it has. How much weight do you think you added?
@TheHandyHunter
@TheHandyHunter 6 жыл бұрын
Jeff Bennett Hi Jeff, it has a ton of torque for having the original motor. Couldn’t imagine what a new motor would be like! The suspension upgrade didn’t add much weight because it replaced some old stuff but everything added together does weight more (roll cage, brush guard, basket,etc). With all the additions it still feels normal. The upgraded electric adds a lot of power. Hope that helps. Take care!
