I worked with a customer on something similar, he insisted on helping. The week leading up to it I was thinking how terrible it's going to be having to work with the homeowner (I am picky about anyone helping at all). Much to my surprise, the guy was super cool and easy to work with! Has to be rare, because the yappers and break takers have to be out there...

GREAT Video! I watch a lot of your videos and really enjoy them. I just saw this one and it's coincident that I just purchased one of these ceiling hanging FlexiMounts for my own garage that I will be installing this weekend. That was very brave of you to trust the product and your work by crawling up on them :) Great job by both you and the homeowner! Thanks for the video! Todd

I installed a similar type of garage storage racks at a clients house and it was a PIA. My clients garage walls and ceilings was finished so I used a stud finder to locate the studs and extreme care not to damage the ceiling. 3 hrs later it's installed. Funny thing was he wanted a second identical rack installed but we couldn't find a place to put it. He ended up giving me the rack and i'm going to install it in my own garage. The racks, are such a great idea and super useful! Why didn't i think of this?

Absolutely nothing against your customer personally, but I've always had an aversion for someone "lurking" over my shoulder when I'm trying to do my job. You definitely have way more patience than I do. That being said, with your attitude, and work ethic, I would totally hire you to do the same thing. Great video as always, and btw, you have me sold on the vest now also.

Hey Handy Man hope you're fine. Any ideas for AC that are installed on the windows for summer season? O would like something with plexiglass, I've been doing a frame for the plexiglass with wood which goes in the gap created by the AC and the window, the little gaps remaining I close them with foam, but I want to know if there is something better and good looking than that. Let me know you're ideas

I did a job like this last month hanging two 4x8 racks very similar to these from a garage ceiling. When it came time to hang the 2nd one, I called their customer service and asked if it's OK to hang 2 vertical posts of adjacent racks from the same single ceiling bracket. CS told me it's not safe and should not be done. So I ended up hanging it non-adjacent. I see you hung your 2 vertical posts from the same ceiling bracket. Are you sure it doesn't pose any potential risk/danger?

Videos for these ceiling systems always show studs on 16" centers and running the correct direction. My garage is trusses on 24" running perpendicular to what the instructions and videos show. The ceiling supports will not line up for the 3' deep shelves, I fall between trusses. (Fleximount 6x3 foot). Can I mount some 1x4 perpendicular to the trusses to get them going in the right direction and then mount the system to these boards? The load will not be anywhere near the 450# rating. Or am I over-thinking this?

Inventory Home depot supply has a part number system as do other companies like sears craftsman. It is helpful to either takecan inventory software program that allows you to inventory a harage with shelf number and container #. Then when you want to access a bin in your garage iy can be on a clip board. Ladder safety when i took the turner construction sub contractor class ten years ago there submission of a bid required a osha safety audit screening. I know this maybnot be necessary. Bit your web site is an educational tool. Byw the inventory software can copy yhedales receipt and photo of the item for insurance purposes. With hurricane season might be a project in interview of independant insurance adjuster. Maybe ins company would sponsor your program like this old house. Or local broker can pay you. Nice to see live broadcast always suptised how lax your staye is. Living in ca and wa there are regulations . In wa you need a license to install Mini blinds. Wtf rotflmao. Byw i buy 4" numbers on my bins to match excel spread sheet that is exported out of the software and backed up to zip drive. In my safety deposite box abd copy insurance agent. Great job

Those racks must gave been attached to joists and not trusses. We want to add those or something like that but you can't hang stuff off trusses.
@TheHandyman1
@TheHandyman1 5 жыл бұрын
Yes there is a 2nd floor above this. You would not want to hang 1200 pounds from the bottom of roof trusses. 200 to 300 pounds spread out over 8 to 16 feet up against the wall would be fine.
@darlenemcclenny3909
@darlenemcclenny3909 5 жыл бұрын
Really. What I've read says that there should be little to no weight on the bottom of the truss (other than drywall if you finish the ceiling). They're built for weight on the top (snow load) which we have here in Utah in the winter.
