J.J. One of the Most Memorable Manager's ever in the wrestling business. His style was unique he did not screamed. JJ was not a imposing figure. But JJ had that methodical mad genius charisma. The calm demeanor during a promo he exuded bravado confidence. The removing of his glasses to make a point. Added seriousness & believability to his promos. As a fan you believed this man is smart and will find a way for his team to win. Great Memories The 4 Horsemen w/ JJ Dillion ☆☆☆☆☆ Cruzer In CT

J.J. Dillon, you were my *favorite* manager of my all-time favorite faction/stable, the Four Horsemen. The 80s were such a special time to grow up in, and you **ALL** made me want to watch every week what you were going to do and say. God bless you, you are one of the all-time greats in the industry who obviously loved the business and were great at your craft. I could listen to you tell your stories forever. Thank you very, very much.

When JJ Dillon worked for Emile Dupree (Gougene) yes same Dupree as his son one half of WWF tag team champion Rene Dupree, he came into the ESA Wrestling (Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling) in Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada as "Cowboy" James Dillon. He started as a Babyface and went against the meanest and toughest opponents being the promotion's USA Heavyweight Champion. After that stint in the Maritime Canada, he traveled throughout North America. When he came back to ESA Wrestling, he was more volitile and became a manager most notably with The Great Kabuki against all members of the Comier family including Hubert Gallant. One of feuds he had in this promotion was one and only Ric Flair. Flash forward, he came back to the Maritime Canada, he came with The Great Kabuki confronting Leo Burke (Comier) and Rick Martell in Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada hunting for the AWA World Heavyweight Championship but duo failed. You can find this wrestling match here on KZfaq (Leo Burke vs Rick Martell for the AWA World Heavyweight Championship) even the opening credits and announcer came back for this historical match....JJ Dillon deserve this WWE Hall of Fame because, he is that damn good. Oh by the way, there's a wrestling match involving the future great managers. Arnold Skaaland and JJ (James) Dillon vs tag team champion from the Shiek's Detroit Big Time Wrestling...that too is on KZfaq if you looking through Detroit Big Time Wrestling...thanks for your time to read up on the great JJ Dillon 😁

I'm a friend of someone you know (Sanjay), who has family in Ontario, and I think he works in Ottawa, the last time I spoke to him as a teacher I think. Anyways, AOLTimeWarner didn't want pro wrestling on their TV stations after buying the merger, which made no sense to me, since AOL was the smaller company at the time of the merger. so yes, the financial losses were defintely a factor, but also the fact AOLTimeWarner didn't want to air WCW programming, because it didn't fit their programming. If Turner was still owning the company, and hired someone to do the booking and hire a competent team to write the storylines, and someone to watch the finances, it might have had a chance, since talentwise, I felt they were better than the WWF/WWE from a technicalstandpoint, but the WWE was probably more entertaining to most fans. Finding the sweet spot of storylines and technical wrestling might be the best combination. Promotions like Continental Wrestling Association (Memphis), ECW, MidSouth/UWF, Stampede Wrestling and World Class Championship Wrestling had that, plus if you can throw in some brawling and high spots with great promos, you have a hit. Blood, although sometimes necessary, should be avoided, but if used, maybe for special gimmick matches like blowing off feuds, or for special cirsumstances like when maybe one or more of the people involved are leaving the promotion. I forget who said the core elements of a pro wrestling match, are technical ability, brawling and high spots (maybe it was Roy Shire?), but you throw that in with colorful and entertaining promos with compelling storylines and you have the recipes for a hot promotion potentially. I understand why Vince wants to limit movesets, because of the potential for injury, whether it is temporary or permanent, but maybe save the daredevil stuff for special events like WrestleMania and the other major PPVs like RoyalRumble, SummerSlam, and SurvivorSeries. If the Fight Network or SpikeTV or something like that were around at that time, and I think SpikeTV was around, but I'm not sure if it was under that name or under The National Network name, or The Nashville Network name before that, it might have been a place for WCW to find a home. ECW Hardcore TV was a much more edgier program than ECW on TNN, and closer to what ECW was all about, but TNN probably told ECW to tone it down for advertisers, so ECW was limited to what they could do on TV, much like workers contracted to the WWE are. You're not going to see the risks they take outside the WWE, and the Lesnar-Bryan match at Survivor Series last year was boring. The End of WCW and the Final Monday Nitro prowrestlingstories.com/pro-wrestling-stories/wcw-ends-monday-nitro/ is a good read.

Ive YET to find this film of Arn Anderson's Four Horsemen quote. JJ says it was during 6:05 tv episode. While Ole & Arn were (NOT world) National Tag Team Champions, Tully either TV Champion or National Champion and Flair world champion.
@brianlogan4243
@brianlogan4243 5 жыл бұрын
It's on a local syndicated promo and he held up the fingers. It was not on TBS. Ole & Arn were not National tag team champions after Feb 86, (close though) The horsemen concept grew out of the Starrcade 85 conclusion. Dusty finish on Flair, Magnum regained US title from Tully, which lead to JJ Dillon acquiring Blanchard. Arn Anderson won TV title tournament all in January 86, the national belts were held up (Dusty & Road Warriors broke Ole's ankle) then renamed US tag, sometime in March 1986 after Tully with Flair's help won national title from Dusty. man I feel old, I watched it in real time in 1986. I was suspicious of Ric Flair guest commentator..

And like we all know Sting and The Ultimate Warrior started out together as a tag team down in Memphis with Jerry Jarrett's Continental Wrestling Association (CWA) as The Blade-Runners as Rock and I believe Sting but also we're known as Jim Justice and Flash Borden...but again within what a year or less they broke up...Jim went to Dallas with Fritz Von Erich's World Class Championship Wrestling(WCCW) as The Dingo....then as we all know he went North-East....so-called New York with Vince McMahon Jr's WWF...he became Intercontinental Champ 🏆 and eventually beat The Hulk for The Eagle 🦅 Winged Strap🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯 Sting left Mid-South/UWF....and Bill Watts for The Carolinas...and getting on with Jim Crockett Promotions (JCP) as a green wrestler....winning titles....The Television 📺 Title 🏅.....later both The NWA World HeavyWeight 🏆 and also The actual WCW Champ 🥇...feuding with Big Van Vader for it but I'm not too sure if Sting ever held The United States HeavyWeight Champ 🏅....from my memory....I only remember Dusty Rhodes,Magnum TA,Nikita Koloff,Barry Windham and Lex Lugar but I think Arn Anderson held it shortly but those names I just put down as being former United States HeavyWeight Champ 🥇...it's probly 90% accurate on the lineage of NWA's United States HeavyWeight Champ 🏆...but not in the correct order🤔💯🤷

Hannibal to your knowledge has Ric Flair ever held that WCW HeavyWeight Strap🤔💯....not the Big Gold Belt but the Strap Vader,Sting and the same Title 🏅 that Ron Simmons eventually won...to be the 1st Black HeavyWeight Champ....remember Ravishing Rick Rude being interviewed by Tony Shivone,....where Rick Rude says to Shivone ....what's it say on my belt and Shivone says it says World Heavyweight champion 🏆 and Rick Rude also says....to confirm...double down that he's NWA's World Champ 🥇.....I think 🤔 Rude's wanted to distinguish the difference between his Title and Vader's WCW HeavyWeight Strap 🥇 I believe it all went down like that becuz of articles and I even think The National Wrestling Alliance (NWA)was upset becuz they're booker or booking committee wasn't happy with what they were doing Jim Crockett Promotions was way out the way by then ....ya know Jim Crockett Jr had already cashed in the HUGE Bo-Koo- Bucks💵💰🏧that OLE Ted Turner threw Jimmy Crockett Jr's way🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯 And my other question is...did Lex Lugar ever hold the Television 📺 Title🏆 cuz I remember Lugar being NWA Champ and United States Belt....even The WCW HeavyWeight Strap... the that was going around to Vader,Sting,Lugar and Ron Simmons💪😎 Ok Hannibal thanks 👍 for this interview with JJ Dillion....very informative and JJ Dillion for sure has an AWESOME MEMORY....and shoots his answer quick and fast like if he was a relative of Quick Draw McGraw....I don't know.....jus saymln....my bad Hannibal for such a long question ....comment...my bad.....I apologize to You,Hannibal and anybody else💯💪😎👊🇵🇷🇺🇸⚒️
