Did anyone notice on the intermediate layout the word IN was omitted on the final layout? Love the video. It's always interesting to see how much goes into something that appears to be so simply.

I went back to see the point where it was omitted and can see myself doing the same thing and not feeling the need to draw attention to it. Just wild to imagine a human does human things like the rest of us imperfect humans.

I am a middle school art teacher and our last project of the semester is to pick a quote from a favorite cartoon character and then to write it out in calligraphy lettering. I have watched many of your videos and other youtuber's videos, and I have to say that YOU by FAR are the BEST at explaining and teaching!! Thank you! :)

My biggest take away from this is correcting your sloppy copy with a red pen. Something so simple but so effective! I've been toying around with hand lettering for about a year now but am not confident enough to call myself anything other than "beginner". Your videos are helping me gain a lot of confidence in my work. Thank you for your hard work Becca! P.S. I absolutely LOVE the Dad Jokes in your emails! Haha!

Thanks I have been looking at my handwriting for years. My mother had beautiful handwriting and I want to improve mine to do beautiful writings even letters or just do quotes/sayings for myself even for little gifts. I am 55 and feel extremely old to start but I hope I have the time to do this. Thanks again for your videos please keep us feeling we can do something. It is wonderful art form as now technology has taken over writing so much. We cannot loose this beautiful skill. Much love to your wonder work from Louise in Australia. 💕

This is very in depth and super helpful. It requires quite a few steps to figure it all out but it's worth to put in a bit more effort into planning and in that way avoid the frustration of having to rework, not knowing where your mistake is, if tat makes sense. By the way, I often forget to dot my 'i's, no big deal...

She did discuss the difference between cursive and calligraphy in her video Basic Calligraphy Strokes (Beginner Calligraphy 101). This is a modern version of calligraphy using brush pens instead of traditional calligraphy using the metal nubs and ink pot. So there is bound to be visual differences.

@@TheHappyEverCrafter Oh I've been there... spent ages on a full calligraphed page and then realised afterwards (with a few bleeps) that I left a word out! There's no undo button with real calligraphy which is why handmade things are so much more appreciated because you only get one go at it or else have to start all over. This is why I can appreciate how great this video is because it's real and shows how challenging and time consuming it is. Besides the omission of the "in" in the second example doesn't change the method that you were teaching in any way, and the method itself is excellent and very helpful.

You blew my mind with the mating of ascenders and descenders!!! So good to see you practicing safe, and using a cover sheet to trace. ;-) Seriously beautiful penmanship! Question: What percentage if penmanship can be acheived by practice and time, and what is natural born gift for lack of better term. Hopefully that question makes sense, I just feel some have a more natural ability for artistic writings. Thanks.

Some great Tips. I did calligraphy years ago and it was a struggle for me to get it looking right. I wish I had known about this then. Never occurred to me to use the tracing paper and move it around. Such a simple tool but sometimes it is so obvious that you miss it. Oh well I know now And may start up doing it again. The pens are so much better now. I was using the liquid ink and different size nibs. I would get spatter and when the ink ran out it became a real problem to get back to the flow or rythem I had going.
