This instantly improved my "calligraphy" (if I can call it that at the stage that I'm at, lol). I was trying to write all my words without lifting my pen off of the paper, thinking that's the only way to make it look like it flows. I couldn't have been further from the truth. Lifting the pen off the paper really changes the game completely!

I have watched many, many handwriting and calligraphy tutorials from various channels and your videos are *by far* the most informative and practical. Just as a specific example, demonstrating a common mistake with most people assuming to meet up the lines at the very top of the oval and then *showing* us how much cleaner it looks to start to the side with an upstroke. You're a great teacher!

I’ve watched several different You Tube videos on calligraphy. Becca by far has been the best so I’ve ditched the others. This gives me consistent information and teaching style. So glad I happened upon her.

I've been doing brush calligraphy since 2018 and I thought that my "lack of practice" was the reason why I don't improve. I know now that I need to master the basic as well, thanks to your video ☺️♥️ Now, I'm motivated to practice more ☺️ I like that it's very straight-forward, no hitting around the bush, just the specific words and ideas ☺️❤️ Thank you ☺️ Kudos to your channel ☺️

I'm just learning this a newbie. I purchased from Amazon Mont Marte set. I honestly didn't know where to start but now I do. It was my birthday present for myself. As a kid I would sit in my room and practice my handwriting especially my name. At first I thought I want to be an actress after practicing all that but decided on journalism and that never came around oh well I'm retired now and looking forward to an adventure in calligraphy. Thank you! I was really worried about not getting the light part of my strokes but realised I was too scared to press down on the downstrokes and it really really improved my upturn and down turn strokes.

I have always used calligraphy nibs. These brush pens are new to me. Can you tell me you measure brush size to letter height? And also, how do you properly hold the brush pen to get the most control?

OK, here is what this left-hander is about to attempt ... I am going to try to learn calligraphy right handed. Since it is awkward learning this with my left already, it will still be awkward with my right. So I am not any further behind. It may just take a little more practice. I joined your Show My Your Drills class starting September 28th. Wish me luck!

typical my life... i have always wanted to do calligraphy, but have never been able to get a nib pen and ink... so i gave up (at my defense, no internet for non school-related research until i finished school)... years later, i get a nib pen and ink, do some youtube research and i find out that you actually use tombow dual-tip brush pens, which i have a whole set of!!! go to try it out and... they are basically dry seeing as i have had them since HIGH SCHOOL! sigh... but thank you so much! i will definitely be getting new markers and start practicing and following your awesome and very educational videos! :)

Great video. I’ve been trying to learn but doing lots of letters but not actually the strokes as shown in your video. Definitely going to try that way. I was also worried when my pen made the same noise as yours that I was pressing too hard! Now I know it’s ok 👍

I think it might work, but I think that a calligraphy pen will take less effort. ( not an expert,just a beginner with an opinion)

Love this tutorial! I wish I could solve why I run out of ink before completing a longer stroke. I’m using good quality nibs and ink. Any suggestions?
