I definitely agree with Stickerbrush being at the top spot... I remember even pausing the game just to listen to that track in a loop. I am now a musician/electronics engineer and I just recently revisited the DKC soundtracks and I now appreciate them from both perspectives: the masterful music composition work and how the guys from Rare got the most out of the electronic hardware limitations to output these visually and musically stunning games. Thanks a lot for compiling this list!

Forest interlude will always be my favorite. Also I don’t know what rockface rumble is so low. That’s at least top 10 for me. Definitely the best song from dkc3 in my opinion.

#13 DK Island Swing should be higher on the list. It not only is a great theme, not only is it the FIRST level theme in the series, but it subtlety foreshadows all other themes in the game. It goes from fun swing, to slow bridge, to quick and chase like. It has it all.

I went on a wild goose chase just to find #1 on the list I heard it in the background of a video and was like “Hmm how do I know this song’s melody and where does it come from?” I then searched Earthbound’s soundtrack; found nothing Back at square 1 and I searched for retro video game music on KZfaq. I then searched for retro/classic video game music on KZfaq; found nothing. Half of me wanted to give up and the other wanted to keep going just in case. I took a 1-2 day break before I went back to searching through KZfaq and found nothing initially. A little after, I realized “Hmm the melody sounds like it would be from Donkey Kong.” Now I am here and am glad to have found that one song that you don’t know the name of, is just beats, Shazam cannot hear it clearly because someone was talking in the video.🙃

My favorite song in the DKC games is In a snow bound land. One song nobody talks about. :(

This soundtrack has the perfect mix of different moods and sounds: there's calm ambient tracks, adventurous and energizing background music, and boss themes that set the tone for the battle.

I have two things to say: 1) Thank you VERRYYYYYYY much for this video; I listen to it when I go to sleep 2) How did you record this gameplay? I assume that one, you recorded it yourself and two, you did it on a TV, which I can't figure out how to do.

I think the Donkey Kong Country series has some of the best songs in any video game ever.

back in the day Treetop town really reminded me of Judy's theme from Doug i think they used it in ren and stimpy as well. I was skipping around and i knew as soon as hot head bop was #9 that everything after was going to be killer. as soon as I heard forest interlude i was like Brambles and aquatic ambience is next for sure

DKC2 was the first game I can think of that had a "fake ending" with a really amazing real ending if you 100% the game. I'm sure there were others before, but it's the most memorable to me. And each subsequent game also had it.

Great choices, although Disco Train doesn't have the same feel without the sound effects alongside it, which are almost essential. I think Ship Hold from DKC2 is more deserving of this list. I could listen to that for hours.

Other than having Forest Interlude on first, Aquatic Ambience on 2nd and Stickerbush Symphony on 3rd, we have the same exact Top 8 and it feels super cool.

Well done of the video dude. Man I love the DKC series, I play them daily on my raspberry pi, if you don't know about the Raspberry I can tell you that this is a small computer which has the size of a creditcard. You can run Linux on it. There is an application named RetroPie, it runs so many old emulators. You can connect it to your TV and play all these old games. These DKC games are really timeless, even in 2016 the graphics and audio are amazing! They really knew how to make a great game. Gang-Plank Galleon is freaking EPIC!
