Kamov Ka32 C-GURI of VIH Helicopters is seen starting-up and taking off from CZNL in Nelson, British Columbia on a mission fighting a wildfire near Harrop, British Columbia. It was a great treat to see this unique coaxial rotor helicopter, the Kamov Ka-32A11BC, the civilian version of the Kamov Ka-27.

The helicopter is really amazing. Reliable, easy to fly, resistant to side winds when hovering. It is inexpensive compared to other helicopters of the same class. It is quite economical itself, especially since those 15% of the power that goes to the tail rotor of other helicopters, in the Ka-32 they go to the main job - to stay in the air. Hence another advantage - compactness and safety, since there is no tail rotor that can threaten people on the ground or any objects that can threaten the destruction of the tail rotor. He weighs 7 tons and lifts 5 tons. And there is also the possibility of a softer landing due to the fact that two propellers slow down the increase in vertical speed in an emergency. As we can see, there are many advantages. But there are also disadvantages: The complexity of the transmission and its maintenance, due to the high location of the screws, they are inconvenient to maintain. Due to the fact that the fuel in the helicopter occupies the entire lower part of the fuselage, there is a very low height in the cabin from floor to ceiling and it is almost impossible to stand in the helicopter. These shortcomings are promised to be corrected in new modifications of the helicopter.

Yes and also the fact that she actually can fly strait forward...in ANY situations (even when all power-pack being killed...). Other helicopters look like giving control hardness even when all ok, and, in any power-damaging situation, then they far too often become unmanageable and just spiral down to crash...

A Vancouver Helicopter logging operation operates a couple of those, they speak very highly about them. I read an article where they said it will lift the same weight as the Sikorsky S-61, about 10 thousand pounds, but at half the per hourly operating cost. They also stated the hours flown which was a lot, and that it was a very reliable machine. I believe the article said they eventually plan on adding a few more Kamov 32's to their fleet.

This is not surprising, because it is he who is used as the main sea-based helicopter (observation, reconnaissance, search for nuclear submarines and destruction). And all because all Kamov helicopters are very stable even in very strong winds and can hover motionless in one place for a very long time, so it is ideal for construction and installation work.In 1983 and 1985, this car set seven world records. During the liquidation of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in 86, it was this helicopter that did dosimetric reconnaissance (at an altitude of 250 m, the sensor was lowered from the helicopter into the ventilation pipe of the emergency unit itself). These aircraft units are successfully used in Canada, Algeria, Malaysia, Brazil, Korea, Switzerland and many other countries of the world. More than 40 Ka-32s are in service with the border troops in South Korea, and this helicopter has several advantages due to the absence of a tail rotor. Since the scheme of the model is coaxial, the missing screw leads to a decrease in size, weight and simplifies directional control. Among other things, 10-12% of the engine power that was previously spent on operating the tail rotor is transferred to the lifting force needs. The power-to-weight ratio has been increased, which means that both transportation and carrying capacity have become higher. The control forces and moments of this scheme are created by the screws of the coaxial system. This is what determines the high maneuverability and controllability, as well as low restrictions at low speeds.

@evanbrace5111
@evanbrace5111 4 жыл бұрын
@Юрий Тойкичев Your answer is still here for me and it's quite a silly one. It's funny how you perceive us because that's exactly how we perceive you, as dishonest scoundrels versus us generally open and honest Americans. I was just curious on why the Kamov design Bureau would share such sensitive information with the US and you go on badmouthing us as if you have some sort of personal vendetta but I suppose that's what pathetic people in the world have to do to feel good about themselves. At least we were honest and asked how to fix it while the Soviets and the Russians simply coped our technologies during the Cold War such as the Tu 4 Tu 160 Tu 144 And the Soviet space shuttle among others. To think that your side is anymore honest than ours is baffling but I suppose that's what propaganda does to fools.

Can someone smart explain the physics behind having two main rotors stacked on top of each other?
@serial_designation_victoria
@serial_designation_victoria Жыл бұрын
This is not the best but it’s the best I can explain. Each set of roters turns in and opposite direction so one turns clockwise and the other one goes counterclockwise. Because of the fact they spin in opposite directions it cancels out so it eliminates the need for one in the back. I hope I answered your question properly here is the Wikipedia page for it and it shows a KA-27 which is pretty much the same helicopter en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coaxial_rotors

There are two main benefits of not having a tail rotor. When operating in tight locations at ground level, a tail rotor is a real hazard to personnel and has the risk of striking trees or buildings. A tail rotor also absorbs significant engine power that does not contribute to lift and forward propulsion. With concentric rotors as in this design all the engine power is available for lift and thrust. With two rotors the rotor diameter for a given amount of lift is reduced compared to a single rotor.
@oldergeologist
