I actually love this!! I agree that one pump is more than enough...and my skin loves it. But I have very, very dry skin and live for a dewy glow. I found working it in with my hands, then pressing it in with a dry sponge worked incredibly well. You did give it all you had, so I commend you lol!☺️

This video was so good! I have tried this foundation with 5 different skincare routines - minimal skincare, zero skincare on a dry face, with a matte primer, with a glowy primer, with finger, brush, and sponge applications....I can't get it to work. I look SO crusty and greasy at the same time, it might be my least favorite foundation ever.

Right - don’t use anything under it - it’s skincare in it. You need to press it into your skin. It’s 85% skincare. Try it that way. I moisturize first and wait for it to absorb and then just this. It’s awesome.

Thanks so much for your very thorough and honest review. I had such high hopes for this product because I love so many of Saie Beauty's other products--and even have it on my Sephora Sale wish list-- but I'm definitely rethinking that. Loved your analogy of bobbing for apples--but in oil. Definitely not a happy thought!

BOUNTY ADVANCED PAPER TOWELS. Blotting firmly with these towels greatly tones down sheen and any residue that hasn't dried down. It leaves the coverage intact.

lol - I will sometimes simply press my hands all over my face to take off a little coverage and help mesh everything together. Paper towel is a new one - though it makes sense, after all, blotting papers are a thing!

It did look very shiny but as per some of the comments, this product may be good for different skin types. I can say I gave Westman Atelier stick foundation a good go, invested on two shades to customise it and it just didn’t work for me and I just didn’t like it but it worked for so many others. Good review, I enjoy your videos.

I definitely agree that one pump with a sponge on very dry skin works much better. It's still glowy but not disco ball glowy. So far I'm really loving it. Today I tried the new Revolve Serum Foundation and I felt like that one, how you are feeling with this one. Lol!

@@TheHoodedLid I found one use case that makes the foundation look good -- using the Cotz Prime and Protect sunscreen primer. Normally I hate to use that under foundation because it makes most foundations look chalky and dry after I powder them. But this time it worked great, and helped to keep my texture from showing.

I tried this today at Sephora. I don’t think so; it looks patchy and kind of dry and wet at the same time. My skin is pretty normal leaning to the dry side, but no dry patches. Thanks for taking one for the team! Bobbing for apples in a pot of oil😂

This is my favorite skin tint foundation! It doesn’t work well over tons of skincare…you don’t want to over do the skin care products you put underneath the foundation…it won’t work well if you do!

Hi ! This foundation reminds me of the Westman Atelier skin tint, which is oil-based. I think that the inclusion of “serum” in the title suggests that this foundation is designed as a skin-care/tint, so to be used as a one-step skincare and foundation. I thank you for doing such a thorough multi-day demo and review of the new Saie serum foundation (which is quite hyped up). Success with foundations is very dependent on skin type, base products and weather. Unfortunately, this one does not work for you - I also think the shade is too light.

Same thing with the Jane Iredale, and my feelings are the same, I won't be skipping my skincare for any foundation. Maybe it would do in a pinch when I don't have time or when I'm away for a weekend and didn't bring my skincare. Don't you think it's presuming quite a lot to assume their skincare formula would suit everyone? As an aside, I also DID try off-camera, without skincare, and it still didn't look good - lol

I had such high hopes for this because I like their skin tint. I'm all for glow, but you are right this is too shiny. I The color match looks perfect and it does look beautiful, if you take away a lot of the shine.

Exactly - without that shine, so promising! I tried off camera with a powder foundation over it (not bad at all, but what's the point of having two foundations - lol) and a matte sunscreen (didn't really help all that much). They really did a good job on the shades though!

FWIW, I love this foundation (and I hated their tinted moisturizer because it was greasy). I’m 49 with great skin, mostly normal to dry, but some sun damage and dark circles. It’s not at all shiny looking on me, though I did use a brush, and even put it on over a little bit of Glossier Futuredew to boot. I started with one pump and then used a bit more to build in certain areas. I wonder if the squalane is what you found “greasy” feeling? Glycerin can have that feeling as well sometimes. But I’d love to see you try this without that sunscreen or whatever moisturizer you used prior because the shine was there before you even started with this product and I could see how that would affect the dry down for you. I did not have any trouble with powder blush or bronzer and didn’t even need any powder, except a sweep under my eyes.

I wanted to love this but I had a similar experience with it sitting very oddly in my pores, which are not a typical problem area for me. My skin is very dry, so I didn’t find this particularly shiny on me-my skin must’ve absorbed the oiliness that is reflected on some people. But it did cling to emphasize dry spots in a very unflattering and cakey looking way-even when using only around half a pump for the whole face.

Hi I have super dry skin (rosacea and eczema) so I love a moisturising foundation so much. My skin drinks in whatever oil it can get lol (despite a lot of skincare used under my spf), so I might try a sample of this if I can find one. I like a glowy foundation and just use a bit of powder in the centre panel to tone it down, but I do use a pore filling primer in that area which helps it look a little more matte. Mac F&B is my most worn foundation tbh, as it's never drying on the skin (I use corrector and concealer underneath where needed for extra coverage). I've tried so many foundations that everyone else seems to love and they look dry/cakey on me, so maybe a balm or something with oil in it is what I need? Might be an avenue to explore with samples. Give it a try - you might love it! Balms can be tricky, some are not very moisturizing, like the Wayne Goss or the Kevyn Aucoin. The Jones Road is...but if you have sensitive skin, some of the oils may be difficult for you. My skin is on the sensitive side, but it doesn't bother me. Take a look at my Jones Road video and see what you think. It was about three months ago I spoke about the What the Foundation.

@@TheHoodedLid I'm bummed because of that too, so the shade I got of the EL is just a tad too dark. But my goodness, the texture and dry down is beautiful. By far the best I've ever used, and my mom loves it too on her mature skin. If you could try it, we'd love to see it! :)

I found that if I pressed it in with a dense brush, it did dry down. And I even had sunscreen on. But if I used my fingers or tried to buff it in- it wouldn’t set

Squalene or squalane are oil derived. They look like oil and have a oily-greasy feel. That’s probably what makes this foundation “oily” and glowy. I don’t use powder blush or bronzer over a dewy base… but I use cream bronzer or blush over powder or matte cream/liquid base. 🤷🏻‍♀️

The product mentioned to use minimal skin care in your prep, especially if you find it too dewy....try just going in with spf and not moisturizer

Obviously, this is a personal choice. For me, I won't forgo skincare to make a foundation work. Skincare is far too important and there are 100's of foundations that won't ask that of me.

I suppose, yes. I think the WA looks better on my skin - but even that, I generally use in dry weather and put a lot of powder on it - this one doesn't really take powder very well - for a few minutes the shine is muted, and then it seems to come right back!

No, the directions on the Saie site didn't say that. I think there's one creator out there who said it and it's like Chinese Whispers now. But, I did actually put it on one morning without anything just to see if it might sit on my pores better. it didn't - lol

I was an oily gal for years, and now “normal” (whatever that means). A foundation that reminds me of my oily days would make me sad. Lol. And yes, if my hair sticks to my makeup - that’s a hard pass. So annoying.

I have no desire to purchase this foundation. I almost bought but deleted out of my cart. Bought the new Guerlain Terracotta foundation instead. Not saying that the two foundations are the same formula. Just was more inclined toward Guerlain. Thank you for the honest review.

I think you're the third vlogger who I've seen with Saie foundation. If you have very very dry skin, don't want to do any pre-moisturiser or skincare, don't have problems with blotchy skin or redness, etc, and are looking for a bit of a 'youthful, moist glow'... then this foundation will probably be your favourite.. but everyone else does not seem to be keen....

I think this foundation is supposed to be worn without skincare underneath, at least that's what another influencer said, so perhaps try it without anything underneath. I'm passing on this foundation as I have oily skin so it would just be messy and greasy on me and I like a soft matte finish so this is a definite no

Interesting. I love the saie tinted moisturizer. I don’t like full coverage and I like a slightly dewy look. FWIW nobody believes I am 60. But I have also wasted literally hundreds of dollars buying products that various influencers swear are their “holy grails” only to find that on me they are awful. The only way to know if something works on you is to try it.

Huh. You have the tiniest bit of uneven pigmentation on your cheeks that I have literally never noticed before but somehow that foundation exaggerated it? I don't think that bodes well for my broken capillaries!

I don't think it's unever pigmentation - it's broken capellaries that actually form designs. Several a little circles on my skin - it's the oddest thing. I see it when I look at a 10x mirror in certain light. And my fingers fit in the circles perfectly - lol

One thing is that you start out Very shiny and oily…? Probably your skin care does not work with this.

Maybe, but what I edited out, because I didn't have footage of it, was talking about how I tried this on one morning without any skincare - and it still didn't look good.

Whelp...."Super Glowy" is right, it certainly is. The Term "Super Glowy" sounds like a sixth grader made it up. It to me, loooks like an oily mess.

It really does look like an oily mess. I really tried to make it work including a few times off camera, once with a matte sunscreen and once with a powder foundation (it wasn't bad under a powder foundation - but too much to ask of anyone to apply that way).

@@TheHoodedLid I love your reviews! I like when people dont "sugarcoat" products. In the future "if we have one" this decade, will be viewed by people who will forever wonder why every one, seems to have overly greasy looking faces. To me foundation that feels like it dosent "set" is tragic. Who wants to walk around collecting dirt and debris, due to sticky skin. lol!
